I've been working for a healthcare insurance company for the past few years at entry level and I love it. I'm hoping to move up into an administrative role and also thinking about going back to school for a degree in Healthcare Administration.

@@mariahpotter1566 It's pretty much same thing but maybe different school have it named differently and maybe a little difference in curriculum. And I wold assume hospital administration would be mainly geared towards hospital whereas healthcare admin is more broad scope
The easiest route to get into insurance would be to start out gaining experience as an agent or even taking on a volunteer role in a health insurance firm while you're working on your healthcare administration degree. That way, when you're ready to move forward in your career, you already know the in and outs of the industry.

Not that bad, just everyone will be counting on you. That’s about it lol It’s a great degree I’m beyond happy. I graduate with my Master of Science in Healthcare Administration this Fall 2021. Like she said there are many aspects and branches you can take this degree and apply it towards. Healthcare is a bundle of jackpots due to the high demand. So as administrators we supply, and that’s usually how the cookie crumbles. You can approach and run multiple clinics to even a well established Hospital with an organized clinical staff already set.
I like to be in a setting where I clinically provide services with my future degree in beam to scare Administration. Would that be possible to work in a setting like that or no ?
How do you stay on top of everything is there a site or something to help you keep up with policy’s and how do you know what training the doctors need.
The best thing I can say would be that with anything you're into, you have to become part of a community to take it to the next level. Try attending several online events on eventbrite or meetup also leverage social media to connect with people working in the industry. When you're plugged in, you'll always be running into new information.
I’m 55, have no experience in the healthcare industry. I’m enrolled in healthcare administration for my bachelors. I know this is going to be an uphill battle, I would like to work in long-term care, assisted living. At 55 I hope to finish my career in the professional setting. So what do you think? Am I too old or should I press on?
In the very beginning, you may want to look into clerical work in healthcare to gain experience and then work your way forward from there. Try watching some of the interviews I have had with healthcare administrators as they share their stories of how they worked their way into higher level HCA jobs
Thankyou for uploading this. I’m majoring in radiology And have never studied any non medical subjects like finance HR marketing etc. is it still possible to shift my career without prior knowledge about the commerce side of the hospital?
I don’t think it’s ever really too late. Especially not in your late 30’s. A solid career can pick up at around 2-3 years of experience, plus 2-5 years or so of education. Then it’s up you go from there. I don’t know how long you want to hold on to your career, but it’s not uncommon to change a career a few times. I know a physician who switched to real estate investing, and now he trades.
Would you have to go to medical school to start working or just an bachelor’s degree will put you on this path and able to work straight out of 4 years of college
Yes, they are pretty much the same. The difference is really in the title and depending on the school's particular program, some of the curriculum could be a bit different. That being said, either degree would be helpful for a healthcare administrator whether you are working specifically in a hospital or not.

@@tashaaishat3559 The general answer to your question is no. That being said, depending on which job and organization you are going for, they may require an exam or a certification. Typically, I find that there are certain career paths in government organizations that may require this, but the job description will let you know what is actually required for that particular job. I would start researching career paths that you may want to consider now so that you can plan out your stepping stones. I, personally, have never worked in an organization where I need an exam or specific certification. It's not very common. Most organizations will want to see how you can be an asset for them and you can demonstrate this through your education, experience, and positive attitude.
