Since you know you want to get into medical billing and coding, I suggest trying to get into an entry level position like accounts receivables, claims processing, etc. at a revenue cycle management company. Trizetto and Change Healthcare are 2 examples of revenue cycle management companies. Good luck! Please let me know if I can answer any additional questions for you.

I will be graduating in May finishing my undergraduate program in public health, I have been telling myself I do not want to work hands on or face to face with patients, but for the community or population. I have a B.S degree in Business Management with a concentration in Healthcare. 6 years later I am just now using the Healthcare portion of my degree. Prior to, I worked for a rental car company where I worked my way up to Branch Manager. I had to literally know someone to get an entry level Patient Access position. I feel like this position does not allow me to reach my full potential. I am almost regretting the transition.

You're literally in one of the most perfect positions because you're exposed to insurance eligibility and benefits, working with patient medical records, etc. Use those skills that you've acquired to apply to positions with more responsibilities. when you say ELEVATE what do you mean? With an MBA, you can seek managerial positions at your hospital to start with. If your job doesnt promote you, look at other hospital...JOB jumping is a very effective way to move up in your career...goodluck

It’s actually a field position but because of COVID, we’re not meeting with any hospitals or medical practices face to face, all of our engagement is done via video conferences/conference calls. Once the pandemic is over, I’ll be working from home still but will spend time in the field meeting face to face with hospitals and providers groups.

I have a B.S degree in Business Management with a concentration in Healthcare. 6 years later I am just now using the Healthcare portion of my degree. Prior to, I worked for a rental car company where I worked my way up to Branch Manager. I had to literally know someone to get an entry level Patient Access position. I feel like this position does not allow me to reach my full potential. I am almost regretting the transition.
Hi Tara! Don't give up! You're literally in one of the most perfect positions because you're exposed to insurance eligibility and benefits, working with patient medical records, etc. Use those skills that you've acquired to apply to positions with more responsibilities. Also talk with your boss about career growth opportunities. Let me know how things go.

Hi Courtney! I'm so happy I found this video it really helps me learn more about my future career that I'll have eventually once I enlist in the Air Force here in a few months granted it's be a lot different than yours but I'm praying it's has the same principles.
How old are you if you don't me asking I always wanted join the air force and go into this type of career in the Healthcare field but I'm now 37 so the air force is now out of plan but I do plan to go back to school

Currently I have been working and operating a financial firm for the last six years with my husband. I’m looking for a change as it’s running on its own and have the ability to switch gears. Thanks for this info. I have my MHA & have not done much with it. I’ve worked in patient care for a few years as a Medical Assistant (hated it), patient access, scheduling & pre-registration. I also held a supervisor position for a year but realized it was not a good fit for me. I’m a introvert & rather work behind the scene. Any tips on how to utilize my degree within healthcare that does not require being in management but with a decent salary?

when you say ELEVATE what do you mean? With an MBA, you can seek managerial positions at your hospital to start with. If your job doesnt promote you, look at other hospital...JOB jumping is a very effective way to move up in your career...goodluck

Hi! Good luck on writing your personal statement! It’s actually a field position but because of COVID, we’re not meeting with any hospitals or medical practices face to face, all of our engagement is done via video conferences/conference calls. Once the pandemic is over, I’ll be working from home still but will spend time in the field meeting face to face with hospitals and providers groups.

Hey Courtney , I'm a 23 year old who is currently in school for an Masters in Healthcare Administration , I went to college of Charleston from 2016- 2020 and graduated with a BA in biology , as far as my current professional life I've mainly worked with insurance for some medical collection and customer service companies, with my current position I work in a small chiropractors/ regenerative medicine office overseeing the insurance revenue cycle with one billing specialist under me. As I only have about 1 year of professional work experience and expect to finish my MHA within the next year and a half, what positions do you think I should look into upon finishing my program?
