LOL 8:30-8:36 is so hilarious and relatable! You're so funny! Is medical scribing a good job to have as an undergrad health admin major if you are thinking about managing an outpatient medical practice when you graduate? Medical scribing is great to do as an undergrad. It will help give you medical field experience and give that you will become so familiar with not just medical terminology, but actual medical procedures, it will put you in a good position for management later on. That being said, I believe you will have some more stepping stones in between scribing and management. I would advise you be on the look out for a good "manager mentor" while you're scribbing. That would give you some invaluable guidance to make it to management b the time you graduate.

You should be looking for any position at either a doctors office, hospital, or facility such as an ambulatory surgical center. The field of healthcare really relies on job experience, so even if you have a masters in healthcare administration, they'll want to see your work experience. There's a lot that you can learn from being in the field that you will not learn in the classroom. If you can, try to get a billing position because I feel like that's the most versatile entry-level position and you'll learn the importance and reasoning behind the tasks that people do at the check-in and check-out desks. However, if you know absolutely nothing about healthcare, then get a receptionist or front desk position and learn the basic processes behind health care.
I sure it depends on the subspecialty, but if a new grad with an MHA got an entry level job, what kind of job are we talking about? The job would be related to his/her degree, right? Or would the hopsital just assign them any job like mopping floors, and then after 6 months they can become an assistant, for example?
No, typical entry level jobs in healthcare administration would be: Administrative assistant, receptionist, patient services, data entry, medical records tech,
I’m deciding between healthcare admin, business admin, or health information management? What do anyone recommend? I’m a medical assistant and a mom of 5 so I want good income
I would recommend going Healthcare Administration if you want to stay in healthcare. Business Administration does not teach a lot about healthcare industry plus there are a lot of people with that degree. Health Information Administration it is focus more in EMR. If you go for a general Healthcare Administration you can land a Health Information job as long as you show experience with EMR and privacy laws plus leadership.
Apply! Get your feet into the door and transfer into a position that is opened. You have higher chances than someone new outside of the organization. Howver, must have good standing work ethics in your current role before transferring out.
Thanks for all your insights.. It is of great help specially for freshers in this field.. I want to ask that what prior skills should a person learn that will make them better than their peers.. Apart from clinical experience and effective communication is there anything that can set someone apart from others. Thankyou
Most Institutions require a minimum of a masters degree. It also depends on your experience and what you have to offer the students. I have a doctorate degree, but it also helps if you show that you are working on your doctorate.

I have done my bachelors in nursing should i go for master in healthcare management? As i'm not really interested in clinical nursing i prefer more business side, is it good decision?
Thank you for this video. i want to ask a question. I have a B-Tech in Urban planning in 2015 but then since after school i have only worked Administrative roles and for the past 4yrs it has been in Healthcare administration (as Insurance Claims/billing officer, relationship officer etc) and i really love it here. advice me how to get a masters studies in healthcare administration since my degree is in Urban planning. thank you!
So true. Had mostly the exact same experience. Got my MBA in healthcare administration with limited experience. Had to work multiple jobs at the bottom before making it to where I am right now, which is middle management. Still working to get to an executive level role. My whole experience has been mostly in the hospital. Other points that are important in this field is that it is extremely difficult to break into! So finding and in/mentor is definitely important. Also, it is more preferred to hire clinicians such as nurses into administration roles because having clinical knowledge is viewed as more valuable than someone that does not. Finally, this is not a field for someone that cares about making money, if that’s your main goal than you should consider a different field. I could go on and on, but I’m sure you can relate.
@@kumbish1021 in comparison to other fields such as banking, and tech the money is not as much. Then again you shouldn’t go into this field for the money, it should be because you’re passionate about healthcare.
@@therealryann5681 interesting!!! Not only healthcare, all professional fields should be out of passion to be in. To be realistic and practical, you can’t tell me after piling up loans to get all that education, you wnt think of the pay scale when you have to repay those loans..
It’s a very difficult field. This is what most aren’t honest about at all and have people thinking they’re going to be making good money and let’s not get started on the work culture of these facilities or hospitals or offices. Healthcare tends to be toxic but all careers have a pros and cons, but I noticed once I got involved I’ve gotten depressed and I even have to file a eeoc lawsuit that I one recently against a healthcare company where I was a medical billing analyst. It’s crazy. That’s why I’m going to do something I like but also money is a major thing for me at this point because my goals aren’t to be working a 9-5pm for years to come.
My community college offers a medical office administration CERTIFICATE. Is that too good to be true? Would I actually get hired with just a certificate?
Hi, I have IT Project Management experience and have worked within a healthcare software development company as a project coordinator, does this count as experience?
Absolutely. My job has a robust Business Intelligence department. IT is such a critical part of our department. Look into applying with National Urgent Care companies.
The EHR/EMR has such potential, but because there are so many compartmentalized and proprietary programs that don't interface or play well with others, it doesn't serve us nearly as well or could and should. 😔 We have so much to learn from other countries' national health systems! But between lobbying and greed, it's gonna be a steep uphill climb.

No, typical entry level jobs in healthcare administration would be:
Administrative assistant, receptionist, patient services, data entry, medical records tech,
Hi professor! Is it possible to do MHA after an undergrad in engineering ?
Ain’t that a downgrade money wise?
Yes you can.
And it would be a major upgrade if you're planning to use your MHA in medical engineering
Is it good to start with diploma certificate program of health care administration? For example at Conestoga?
I don’t understand? I finished my undergraduation! How to get work experience?

Thankyou
How to get a mentor?
Can MPH student get career as healthcare administrator?
I’m going for my masters in healthcare and I work for healthcare but for insurance and licensing. Good experience. Thank you for sharing
What masters degree would you recommend I have thought about getting a dual in MHA/ MBA
Did you opt for it ? I also have the same confusion 🙁

Would it work to get a Bachelor of Arts in Business and then a healthcare administration masters to become a heathcare administrator?
How do you nectar professor with Just a master degree ? Do you get a teaching certification?
Most Institutions require a minimum of a masters degree. It also depends on your experience and what you have to offer the students. I have a doctorate degree, but it also helps if you show that you are working on your doctorate.
Been working in the admin side of healthcare for 6 yrs now, finally able to go back to school now. What bachelors degrees complement this?
I thought admin was the highest paying. Why are you going back to school?
@@beckyngreene if you don’t have a degree it doesn’t pay what you think it does.
Mam, how can I find a mentor, a good one?
Could you please shed some light on this.
Thank you

Hi I am an occupational therapist with little experience still, but I am at the point of knowing what to do about my passion and going forward. I wanted to land a leadership role in rehab as my main goal but definitely won't limit myself from that setting. I just accepted for MHA but doubting if is it worth it or is it possible for my experience as an OT be beneficial as soon as I finish the MHA program.
😂😂I am an OT and thinking about MHA too
I have done my bachelors in nursing should i go for master in healthcare management? As i'm not really interested in clinical nursing i prefer more business side, is it good decision?

You should look into healthcare analytics. There are many areas for an analyst even with a nursing degree.
What do you think about a Medical Device Sales background? Would this be helpful or irrelevent?

Thank you for this video. i want to ask a question. I have a B-Tech in Urban planning in 2015 but then since after school i have only worked Administrative roles and for the past 4yrs it has been in Healthcare administration (as Insurance Claims/billing officer, relationship officer etc) and i really love it here. advice me how to get a masters studies in healthcare administration since my degree is in Urban planning. thank you!
Hello, can you share anything about urban planning? What classes did you take? What are some daily tasks that you handle?
Hello I’m doing Mbbs in Russia so is it possible to opt to masters in healthcare administration in uk or us
Hi, I thought this field is well paid
They don't tell you this in school, I studied Healthcare Management and have no experience whatsoever lol

My community college offers a medical office administration CERTIFICATE. Is that too good to be true? Would I actually get hired with just a certificate?
hello, I'm a potential international student, I do have experience but it's from my country. Does it count as an experience.
absolutely
Thank-you!
you are cool) Thanks for your content and easy relatable communication applied
Hi, I have IT Project Management experience and have worked within a healthcare software development company as a project coordinator, does this count as experience?
Absolutely. My job has a robust Business Intelligence department. IT is such a critical part of our department. Look into applying with National Urgent Care companies.
Perfect content. I loved the video
Glad you enjoyed it!
I agree.
Capitalism shouldn't be inserted into healthcare.
