    Krista,
I never comment on youtube videos but I am so drawn to do so now. Thank you so much! This was the best 20min pf my life it feels like!😂 I was enrolled at college after my AA and planned to minor in health science (in which I finished Fall 2021) and I was then planning to complete a minor in psychology and then apply to my school’s Nursing program February 2022. As the time got closer, the more studying I did for my teas I realized I was not as passionate as I was when I first started this journey. Over our Christmas break I did a lot of thinking and researching. Let’s just say I am so glad my brain did not explode! I was so overwhelmed with information. I wanted to change my major but I didn’t know what to, I researched and researched and the only other health related majors my school had were health informatics, speech, or health admin. I chose health administration, in which I realized when I was younger I said I would be anyway. I then tried to look up videos on youtube about the major and realized that not a lot of people talk about it like nursing. Thankfully I found your video and you just helped me realize that I really want to do this! I said that even switching majors to health admin, I could always apply to pa school or a masters program. You really helped me solidify my thoughts. I can breathe! I just wanted to take the time out to say thanks you! God bless you and I wish you the best. So far, today classes just started and I’m taking accounting (love it so far), health care systems, cornerstone, and microeconomics for undergrad. Please continue to post! I would love to stay updated. Again, I know this is long but this is how much you helped out. Blessings!💕

Wow I'm so happy I came across your video!! I also have my undergrad degree in exercise science and have totally pivoted from that as I've been working in Healthcare admin positions. Im currently on the strategy and communications team and just like you would also love to go into the marketing side of healthcare!! It's so comforting knowing there's someone out there who has a similar background and goals as me!❤ I've been trying to navigate what kind of masters to go for whether that be MPH, MBA, MHA or MS in Communications with a concentration in health. Thanks for providing a clearer insight on the MHA!

I’m currently getting my BHA and planning on getting an MHA while I’m working after getting my BHA. Like yourself, I wanted to do something clinical at first (For me it was become a physical therapist) and then a few years ago I got a cancer diagnosis and underwent a stem cell transplant. This gave me some HUGE insight on the clinical side of medicine, and I also realized one major factor after becoming a patient, the clinical side was not my forte. I absolutely love healthcare, and have a desire to make quality changes to the system, but being a clinical provider does not suit me. My cancer diagnosis lead me to this career change, and I’m ultimately grateful for that. I liked watching your video!

I have an undergraduate degree in healthcare management from the top medical university in my state and my recommendation would be to only get a bha or bhm degree (or a masters for that matter) if you already are working in the healthcare field or in a healthcare office and want to try to move up. Or if you have some sort of connection and all you need to do is get a degree to move up. Don’t expect to get your degree with no experience working in the healthcare field and to just jump into an administrative position. It rarely happens. I got lucky bc my school did a internship for the last semester and I got hired on where I did my internship, but so many people I graduated with are still not working in our field because they had no prior experience and the degree can only teach so much. No one will hire you to run their medical office if you have never worked in that field before. I know it sounds blunt but just a warning to some people here!! Take it with a grain of salt, but just don’t expect the degree to land you a job on its own!!

Thanks for this video! I’m currently trying to do both nursing and healthcare administration. I know for a fact I want to do nursing but I know I don’t want to do it forever so the healthcare administration would be something to fall back on. I would like a management/business role after. I would love to work my way up the ladder at the hospital that I work at or becoming the director of a nursing home. I am even thinking about starting my own home health agency or staffing recruitment agency for health facilities looking for travel nurses or CNA’s. I found a school that lets me do my entire health administration degree online so while nursing plus health administration seems like a big course load the fact I can do it online completely helps some since my nursing classes are in person.

Awesome video! Just a heads up to some bc CAHME has only like a few schools they accredited but there are other types of accreditation agencies as well that are widely known and respected. My school has AACSB which is the International the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-the leading accreditation agency for business schools in the United States. Less than 5 percent of all business schools worldwide meet AACSB International's demanding standards.
(I copied that off my schools website lol). But yeah just so people know there are other options too! Personally, The cahme schools were a bit too expensive for me or the program was long and I wanted something expedited lol. Just FYI :)!!!! Good luck to everyone and their studies!!

Hey Krista, I just came across your videos while trying to decide if I should get a Masters in Health Administration. Initially, I was going to go towards med school, then I switched to a PhD (So I got a masters in Biological Sciences), and now, I am actually considering going towards Health administration. However, I have a medical condition that limits me physically. Basically, I can't overexert myself (Being on my feet for long hours, having constant stress like a surgeon would, etc.). So I was wondering if you could help me better understand how physically demanding careers are for someone with an MHA degree? Can I get a job in this field where I have comfortable work/work hours and a good salary? I figured you would know more than me having already begun the degree so I appreciate any information you could provide.

Another undergrad degree that could possibly prepare you for a MHA is a Bachelors in Health Information Management. This degree introduces you to basic to advanced level clinical concepts, basic to intermediate level business concepts, and basic to intermediate level technology concepts. The main focus though revolves around the medical record, so its not for everyone.

Hello Krista, planning on starting my Healthcare administration program in a few months. Am just confused why most of the schools am looking at are giving a maximum of 15 weeks to complete an entire bachelor's degree. I thought it was four years at most so am not sure if it's ok for me to jump in on it? Again, is the CAHME certification for states only or all states? Lastly, i have a bachelor's from Africa, do you think i could just go and have my MHA or would you advise i start from scratch. My bachelor's is in English language and has nothing to do with anything health or management.

Hello! I’m currently finishing up my community college credits to transfer to a university to get a bachelors in healthcare administration. My question to you is, what type of entry level jobs should I look into applying for as an undergraduate to at least have some experience of working in a clinical setting. I plan to get my masters after undergrad & wish to work in a hospital setting as an administrator and work my way up. Any advice would be great! I was looking into getting certified as a medical assistance as a stepping stone into healthcare but I don’t know if that would be ideal?

    Super helpful information - thankyou!
In the United States, what does salary look like for a BHA graduate? What about an MHA graduate? I live in an area where the average home costs $700k, I have children, and I'm stressing about salary. That's the only thing holding me back from applying to the BHA program I want to attend.
    Thanks 🙂

However I'm considering this degree because right now I'm in I.T. major but I'm only taking it to concentrate on the health informatics .
