    Hi, I started this 4 months ago. I watched your videos many times. I felt your instructions were right on. This is a beautiful design and your instructions are definitely needed, at least for someone not seasoned to Machine embroidery and appliqué. I love how mine turned out. And anxious to put I it under the tree. I used a lot of Kingstar metallic thread. All of my background is metallic silver. I will review this with designs by JuJu. Your tutorial is just fantastic! I referred to it many times as I was doing the project. DBJJ instructions are also super with each step thoroughly explained. In your tutorial, I didn't see you top-stitching the tree skirt all the way around. (Maybe it's a foregone conclusion to do it.) Did you feel the stitch-in-the-ditch with a precise pressing was sufficient? Since I gave away the Ham I had years ago, I used my Clover little mini-iron to press open the seams before turning right sides out. I worked great - very tedious to do, but worth the effort. Believe it or not, my tree skirt will be sent to a super Air Force man who served under my Green Beret son in Afghanistan.

    Question Becky, do you prefer your smaller brother for straight stitch sewing. Why didn't you use the Luminaire? Just curious.

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  ปีที่แล้ว

      I had that Brother PQ1500 for several years before the Luminaire came out. Its sole purpose in life is a straight stitch and the quality of that stitch and the resulting product are far superior to what I'd get on the Luminaire. It's because of the single hole needle plate and the function of the machine to hold the fabric tighter to the bed of the machine and near industrial force of moving the fabric smooth and straight across the feed dogs. The quality of my stitching skyrocketed when I began using that machine. Now I struggle with my stitching when I'm on the road and I can't use it. Absolute best purchase I've ever made for my quilting. That's why you see Donna Jordan of Jordan Fabrics and Kim Jolly of Fat Quarter Shop use straight stitch machines as well. The difference is incredible. I'm so surprised at how inexpensive it is too. This one is sold by Brother on Amazon so it has a warranty: amzn.to/3eo7SLz

    • @PowerToolsWithThread

      I don't think you really need that because the stabilizer will really stiffen the panels. If you don't have any SF101, Sulky's Soft & Sheer will work or a very lightweight non-woven Pellon fusible interfacing.
