    I am a very new beginner embroiderer and have been working on this tree skirt design. I have done it on a navy background so it looks more night timey. It is so much fun to do and am using a Husqvarna Topaz 50. Love it.

    Thank you again for your wonderful tutorials and especially this Christmas tree skirt. I bought the pattern, my fabric and looking forward to making this (attempting). Favor, please, would you post images of the panels you stitched out? I'm terrible at putting colors together and love your choices. Thank you so much for your time and efforts for all.

    Thanks for the Q&A. I have to say this. I have a single needle Brother Innovis that is over 10yrs. old. I was only making tea towels with embroidery designs UNTIL I found Becky's TH-cam channel by accident a few years back. My first ITH project was the notebook cover that I saw Becky demonstrate in her video. Her earlier videos explain project how-to's so simply and clear that she opened up a whole new world for me and Louise (my embroidery machine)! I have so many ITH projects now under my belt and am so confident to tackle ANY project all because of Becky's channel! Thanks Becky!!

    I purchased this pattern. I have a Brother SE1900 that will use a 5"x7" and a 5"x12" hoop. I would like to make this using the 5x12 hoop so the finished tree skirt would be larger. I did resize it in Embrillance, but of course it did not look right because I could only stretch it longer, which made the reindeer have a rounded body. Can you help me with this?

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, you won't be able to make this design in the 5x12 hoop. The 5x12 hoop is only good for continuous designs that you want to stitch on a background that is larger than a 5x7. For instance, if you wanted to embroider, "Hello Sunshine" in large letters across the bottom of a beach towel, you could use the 5x12 hoop for that and then just reposition the hoop on the bed of the machine without having to un-hoop and re-hoop and try to realign it all. I don't think the SE1900 will even "see" a design larger than a 5x7. The only way for you to make this design is to use the 5x7 pattern for all of the blocks. I was in your shoes many years ago and I decided I liked embroidery so much that I eventually upgraded to a used 9x14 Brother Quattro and I've never looked back!

    Great Q&A Becky! Pellon actually provides instruction on pre-shrinking the SF101 on their website - put it in warm water for 10 minutes (not washer), gently squeeze out excess water and hang to dry (no dryer!) I just got this pattern and will watch your videos when I go to make it! Thank you again for all you do for us!!

    New to using Embrilliance. I’m working on the main blocks. The question, on the side menu on color and placement, is there any way to get it to show up a little darker on the screen. I’m having a little difficulty seeing them so I can see what’s next for correct color placement.

      I just did this on my single needle machine. I started it on 10/16/22 and just finished stitching last night. I only worked on it in the evenings and on the weekend. My best piece of advice it to take your time laying the fabric and definitely use the paper tape (it was a life saver for me) the first half of my project I did not use the paper tape and I did get puckers 😢. I am beginner embroiderer so I learned A LOT with this project.

    Hi Becky, I just finished all the embroidery for the tree skirt and have sewed the pieces together.I LOVE it but, Now I am pinning the skirt to the backing and don't know what to do when it comes together in a circle and there is no place for a seam allowance on the two edges that are to be the opening edges. How do I provide a seam allowance? Please help!

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure I understand. Each block has a built-in seam allowance so the outer edges should have plenty. If it was accidentally cut off, then create a 1/4" seam allowance by sewing in slightly from the edge. Have you seen the 2nd video for finishing on the tree skirt? That may help. th-cam.com/video/h6BRynK96gU/w-d-xo.html

      Hi Becky, I have watched all three videos and they are wonderful! I have laid out my completed circle of cones all sewn together with one opening. When I lay them on the backing they form a complete circle with the seam allowance for the final opening laying on top of each other so there is not a seam allowance for each side of the opening? How do I get the extra seam allowance?

    I am completely confused with the supplies we need. Might just be in Australia but I have been told SF101 is just the product name not what the item is ie. sf101 shape flex, sf101 pellum etc. What am I to use pellum or shape flex or vilene. Then they say batting which is fine got that but what is the no show mesh cut away stabilizer used for and how much do you need.

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great questions! Shape Flex 101 (SF101 for short) is a woven adhesive "fabric" that is made by Pellon. It needs to be adhered to the back of each background fabric. This prevents puckering. The no-show poly mesh stabilizer is hooped first as a base to build the block on - like an embroidery foundation. The batting (wadding) gives the block the quilty feel.

    Great Q & A Becky, loved how you explained everything. I am excited to make this tree skirt, one question I have is for the applique once the SF101 is ironed on should I put Heat and Bond Lite on also? Thanks

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      At first I did use HNB Lite on the fabrics that I pre-cut on the SNC. But once I began to trim around the tack down line, HNB was no longer used. :) Have fun!
