    Thank you! Of all the videos I've watched on timing that door. Yours is spot on! Everyone one else either didn't show it. Skipped over it or vague in saying anything about it.
    Thx again!👍

    Mine had a 8mm or 5/16 head on the screws. I used a socket in the end of a pair of vise grips to get the top screw. I had to bring the vise grip down and move the socket a few degrees to each time to tweek the screw out. Thanks for the video, the description on how to line up the plate helps.

    Thank you Brandon, the video was GREAT! My truck was doing
    exact same thing, except for some reason, the mode door actuator was just stuck. I
    was able to slightly move the mode position gear that engages with the drive

    up the actuator. What a nice surprise! Your video was a tremendous help!

      How do you know which is face or feet or defrost on the plate. Got a new actuator and it's centered in the middle and my plate is not centered that way so if I move the plate to where it fits originally and have the actuator on with it centered in the middle what mode would that be would it be face?? It's confusing not knowing what line on the actuator is what and where the plate should be positoned

    • @brandonburns7337
      @brandonburns7337  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You need to check your vehicle air mode. Turn on your ac without the actuator hooked up. This will help you figure out if it's on defrost, feet, face or whatever. Put the plate in place without the actuator, again the actuator should not be plugged in. Turn the plate by hand and see if the plate allows you to switch to all modes. Once the plate switches to all modes you should be able to install actuator and line up screw holes. You should not hook up the actuator until you know plate is aligned. If you do, you could cause the actuator to stay out of time and it will be ruined, so, make sure it's in place correctly. Hope this helps.

How did you manage to squeeze that elbow adapter in there? Are your sockets Xtra short or something? I tried also with a universal swivel adapter and even that doesn't fit.

      @brandonburns7337  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I missed your question it appears from a few weeks ago. Removing the actuator from the plate is a bit difficult. I just gave it a good yank and it came out without breaking. I can see where some might break there’s trying to remove it. For this case, if you remove plate and actuator together, you now have it outside vehicle and can gently work to remove the actuator from the plate. Slow and easy. Hope this helps.

  • @Buck1954
    @Buck1954 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have some questions and I hope you can help . My plate came out too. The actuator is lined up in the middle like yours. BUT where is the white gear and the white pin supposed to be positioned? In order for the motor to line up with the screw holes, the middle position on the motor forces the plate to revolve all the way to the right. This doesn't make sense. The plate should be in the middle somewhere, shouldn't it? Not one one of these videos show where those two items should be located in the middle position. Mine stopped on defrost. How now can it be in the middle? It should be a simple job, but I'm a big fellow and getting my hands up in their is not easy.

    • @brandonburns7337
      @brandonburns7337  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sorry just saw your comment. Did you figure it out? The actuator should come with the white pin aligned to the middle position. If not, something's not right. Did you plug in the actuator and turn mode switch? If so, the actuator is out of time and cannot be fixed. You will need to throw it away and buy another one. They cannot be fixed after they are out of time. Also, make sure the white gear is put back in right location. It can be installed out of time. You want to put the white gear back on with the mode switch in the feet position which is straight up. If not the actuator will not line up with the screw holes. Hope this helps

      Probably so,. Does it work in all other modes?

    • @farmerjbird
      @farmerjbird 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, just that one setting, where the arrows point to tge head and feet, the air comes out below only, turn the knob to where the arrow points to the head only, it comes out of the dash, then turn the knob to where it points to the feet only, it comes out at the floor only, the defrost positions work ok, and I replaced the switch and selector panel with a new one, so I don't think that could be it. Thanks for the quick reply!

    • @brandonburns7337
      @brandonburns7337  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like the selector plate which mounts to the actuator is out of time. This could be for various reasons. 1. Plate is damaged 2. Actuator was installed out of time with selector plate. 3. Actuator is working intermittently and needs replaced.
      The selector plate is what moves the door that sends the air to your various settings. You could remove the actuator from under dash and turn on ac while moving selector plate to see if it's the plate or actuator. If you remove actuator make sure it is disconnected from electrical harness before turning on ac and operating the controls it will ruin the actuator by causing it to get out of time. It can't be repaired once this happens, you have to buy a new one and start over. Hope this helps. Good luck!
