      @@Birmingham_racing No accurate idea, I got it for smiles and carrying my 5 dogs, not economy. However I live in Wales so the roads are hilly, twisty and with a lot of town work I’m averaging 35mpg. As a guess on a run I think it’ll average high 40’s, but being a life long sports and dirt bike rider, I’m often driving on open roads and motorways at 20mph + over the legal limit. Just enough to scrub off speed and not enough to get a ban. It works for me, I’ve had a clean licence for over 30 yrs🤞😁

Modern cars are not capable of such distances, adverts now boast of ranges of less than 300 miles, so much for progress. To think you can now buy a 15 year old 5 series for less than five grand - it's a no brainer really.

    Nice one George! Great video. Just curious what did you do to optimise your MPG? Or was it a case of just fill it up and go. My N47 in my 120D automatic struggles to get 35mpg and 400 miles to a tank at the best of times 😂

    • @Mach_One_Photos
      @Mach_One_Photos 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      l used to own a 2009 E60 520D six speed manual that had the N47 engine and on a run like this the MPG would sit between 60-62 mpg so with a 15.5 gallon tank you should be good for 900 miles. one big difference is you have a 70lt tank on the 5 series and a 51lt tank on the 1 series

    George, I know you have shed loads of videos of the maintenance on your E60, but have you performed preventative maintenance such as the timing chain etc.? This engine honestly is great despite the horror stories of the timing chains in them. I reckon with the right preventative maintenance these are up there with the 3 litre engines.
