    If anyone is curious, there are videos online of Merle Haggard doing amazing impressions and singing like all of his old outlaw friends. Off topic but fun.

      @@WalmartRich you've probably seen it but the video of him getting sheepish because Johnny walked in on him doing one of him. It always cracks me up. He looks like he might get in real trouble lol. On a side note thanks for the videos. I did hifh security loads for 6 years. I got out for 8 while my kids were growing up but I want to get on with walmart. I need to find out from someone if I can make that 30 months in the last 4 years thing go away. I agree I'm out of practice but I'm hoping I can get some sort of answer.

      On a side note, is there any hope for a driver with 6 years otr who took 5 years off? I've paid my dues once, I know I could use a refresher but I'd sure hate to have to get a full 30 in at some chump outfit.

      Where is 2 hrs to unload normal? You should talk to a store embassador. That is not close to what it should be.

    • @MickeyR6
      @MickeyR6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're not very proactive at the stores & talk to many managers regarding you having a live unload.. Majority of them they sound off on their walkie talkies that there's a delivery.. One person tells another the other person tells someone else ect ect. One person eventually will get the ball rolling. Oh and now this new " N transit" feature that is supposed to notify the stores when we are 30 minutes out.. Allowing them to get people ready to go when we arrive. 100% of the time if they do see/get the notification they just disregard it. So putting up with the B.S & bad attitudes at the stores is a head ache of it's own.

    What’s the situation with DC 6011 Brookhaven, MS? They don’t have a local division there and all I have been told is that it’s a regional DC and they don’t service any stores within 100 square miles that I know of. DC 6057 in Robert, LA does including the store in Brookhaven itself and their local division is with US Xpress. I live closer to the Brookhaven DC and would like to drive for them. It’s about 50 miles from my home.

    • @WalmartRich
      @WalmartRich  ปีที่แล้ว

      Let me know if this info on Brookhaven is helpful.
      Brookhaven is regional OTR the service territory is Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, and Louisiana. The major cities serviced is Jackson, MS and Mobile, AL. Average miles per week is around 2300. A typical day would be one to two store loads a day with backhauls going to multiple locations within the region.
      Brookhaven has 14 opening for external drivers, but they are on hold and might start hiring again in February.

      @dillonlewis3645 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the most information given yet. Thanks a lot. If you don’t mind I may use you as a reference. Do you know anything about the driver scheduling there? Also did you find out anything on the onboarding locations. I know they say it’s best to keep your job until onboarding is complete to be sure but I’m not really in a good position for that unless there’s a location close.

    • @WalmartRich
      @WalmartRich  ปีที่แล้ว

      As I learn more about this program I think Walmart might have the best possible training program for new drivers. Its a minimum of 12 weeks. 8 of that is in the truck experience with a mentor. And not all of them will pass at the end of the 12 weeks. Walmart is doing what they can to bring in the right person. By that I mean someone who respects the culture, the Walmart way, and the people they will work with.

    Do you know when they'll expand the fleet development program to the ochelata DC or know how to find out?

    • @WalmartRich
      @WalmartRich  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are only 7 locations that hold the training across the nation.
      The DCs in Florida, however, might not be part of this program for a while, if ever, because so many transfers inside walmart Happen to go to Florida there won't be a need.
      If possible, you may want to relocate within walmart to obtain your goal of Walmart driver. Unfortunately, the only other option would be to get a CDL and drive for 30 months, then apply. I would advise if you really want the opportunity to stay with walmart and relocate if possible because you keep your pto senority!

      If there is micro managing, it would be an isolated dc issue. You will hear 100 times that you are the captain of the ship. None of the DC i ever worked at have I felt micro managed.

    So I hear mixed answers about Walmart Drivers not allowed to park at Walmart stores. Just like with us, some do some don’t. Is that true?

    • @WalmartRich
      @WalmartRich  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Walmart drivers almost required to park at a store or DC. You must park in a safe location. No off ramps or unsecured locations. The Walmart stores do not dictate if trucks park there. Its usually a city order that says no trucks. Even still we park in the back of the store if there is no noise ordinance.
      What they don't want is to do is park at truck stops because bad things happen. I been hit while sleeping 2 times.

    Rich, if you were interested in going for a degree, ICB credits can be transferred. It worked for me. 40 total for the whole program.

    • @WalmartRich
      @WalmartRich  ปีที่แล้ว

      Seriously? How do they transfer? Math, English? What type of credit?

    • @Johnjanosz
      @Johnjanosz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WalmartRich well, ICB is not “Regionally Accredited.” It’s Nationally Accredited, which means that, by default, a University will likely only accept them if you write a letter explaining why they should.
      I enrolled in community college and they automatically took 20 of the credits, no questions asked. It fell into the category of “Transfer Credit” and into “Electives.”
      When I went to Governor’s State University, they took the 20 credits that transferred to the community college because they were a part of the Associates Degree. I then petitioned for them to accept the other 20 with a simple letter and they accepted without any objection. Again, in the category of electives.
      At Govst, my major was “Interdisciplinary Studies,” which basically means that I didn’t have a specific major; just the appropriate amount of total credits to get a degree.
      I would recommend going to Govst if you can. It’s in Illinois, but they have online classes. I did all mine online.
      You need 120 credits for a Bachelors Degree. 1/3 of that was already done by going to ICB. I don’t remember if you ended up finishing the program or not, but either way, ask them for an official, sealed copy of your transcripts so that you can get credit for whatever you completed. The credits are actually itemized. For example, “radio fundamentals” I think was one of them and it was worth 2 credits.
