Snake, history will never know what she did. No one will ever learn the truth. Her story, her debriefing... will endure only in your heart. Everything she did, she did for her country. She sacrificed her life and her honor for her native land. She was a real hero. She was a true patriot.
Eva's tape at the end of MGS3 says "Her memory, her debriefing...will endure only in your heart." Snake is the character we, the players control, he's the bridge between us and the world of Metal Gear. So Eva saying that the Boss' memory, patriotism and her Will exists in Snake's heart is like she's saying that to US the players who finished the game. The Boss won't just live on in Snake, but in ALL OF US.
Haven’t you all noticed ? The moment those white flowers turn red that’s when big boss will face an endless existence of battles....that’s the moment he was cursed...the red leaves signify bloodshed, war, and hatred...I never knew this when I first defeated the boss until years later...this final boss scene holds up very well as it serves a meaningful lesson as to what’s happening now in the real world in 2017 and beyond....we are all just inhabitants on a celestial planet known as earth and we are only there for a moment...everything else is just a meaningless competition all to arrive at the same conclusion...for example the motor vehicle industry...car manufacturers are always up to the next and latest vehicle technology just to compete with each other just for your financial interest...but the truth is,drive any of their vehicles and you will only arrive at the same destination no matter the horsepower...we can all learn a lot from The Boss.
Not just 2017 and on. It's been like this always. Just look at this arms race with the 3 philosopher nations (US, Russia, and China). It's all it is. Competition. Mankind thrives off conflict.
I wonder if *Lori Alan* realizes what an amazing job she did voicing *The Boss* and if *David Hayter* realizes what an awesome job he has done throughout the series adapting a slightly new *Snake* voice for each game. Whoever is responsible for The Boss's speeches on philosophy and history (Kojima wasn't the only writer on each game) is a genius.
yeah, thats the bad thing. They should do david hayter in ground zeroes, and then change the voice actor on the phanton pain. Its nine years of coma, and you dont play with big boss, they could tell the guy you played that his voice changed due to the acident. it would make more sense.
Well he did sort of got in trouble with Konami even before MGS5 was released..... so not like it was possible. But i would love a remake of MG1 and MG2 MSX ones
Big Boss was the Solid Snake of his generation: A legendary soldier who forged powerful friendships, felt that the battlefield was his home and suffered a lot of tragedies. However, his journey is the dark mirror to Solid Snake's one, as we see how consumed he is by his pain and tragedy to the point of becoming the very thing he despised. Big Boss is Solid Snake, but gone wrong.
I'm here to re-appreciate the monologue of The boss. Although I loved it already, I didn't appreciate it enough the first time I played it. A work of art this game♡♡♡♡♡♡
the hd collection changed absolutely nothing about the visuals exept for the resolution and that HDMI finally brought consoles to the picture quality standards pc already had in the 90s. so the hd collection is basically just a 2005 pc version minus the different controls.
The story in this game seemed really emotional and easy to follow. I never found myself questioning things too much or looking into things. The characters and relationships they had were very moving all very believable and I can see what people meant by big boss being more relatable then solid snake. Graphics were gorgeous, music is lovely and really good, gameplay is fun, it's really good.
Its crazy how the events of this day in 1964 haunted big boss for the rest of his life. Even in mgs peace walker he had flashbacks where you have to kill the boss all over again in a lucid dream and you actually have to press the button to shoot.
What she said about the one who inherits the title of Boss, to face an existence of “endless battle”. It hurts how much Peace Walker showed us how much she believed that. How much she would give to live a life without battle. Maybe she thought losing to Snake was the only way that she’d ever exist without fighting. The thing she truly wanted.
Still the best female character in gaming history as far as i'm concerned, she doesn't need to tell me how strong she is, her personality and mere presence does that for her.
Alloosh Big Boss didn’t want more control. The whole point is Solid did what he and the Boss would have wanted. It was Liquid who technically waned the control.
@@exodiatheforbiddenone8228 She says that she doubts that the Americans and the Russians will still be enemies in the 21st century. They're still competing
The American people and the Russian people are NOT enemies. It's the corrupt politicians and elite of both countries that divide and conquer. Enemies in relative terms, just as The Boss says.
Do you ever realize how frightening would this scenario be in real life? You finish off your own mentor, and watch how the Stars of Bethelem go from pure white to a blood red color in reaction to your mentor's death and then see her scars slither away from her body and borrow into the ground.. That's some supernatural shit right there.
"Snake, you're a wonderful man, kill me, kill me now" -ugh, that line is heart wrenching :"( killing the boss is easily one my most traumatic gaming memories
"Now consider whether America and Russia will still be enemies in the 21st century. Somehow I doubt it." I wish that her doubts were well placed. I thought for a while that they were. Now we have once again come to a very dangerous moment in time, not just for our two nations, but for the entire world. May God save us all.
Fuck dude. I don't think anything in a game has ever hit me as hard as that moment when I realized the game was going to make me pull the trigger. They could have easily made it part of the cutscene, but no. That one simple design choice and I BECAME snake in that instant. I felt his emotions. I just kept waiting, hoping that if I waited long enough that I something would happen and I wouldn't have to kill Boss, MY Boss. But I realized, probably just as Snake did, that I had no choice. My only option was to kill her. This scene is a flawless masterpiece and it still gets me emotional to this day.
When i first played this game in 2nd grade i didn't entirely understand the story of the game but i understood the relationship the boss and snake had and made me cry when i had to kill her back then.
Poetics aside, it can only be imagined the inner turmoil Jack faced when he learned the truth. Even though he came home, he never left that field of flowers. Off-screen the man probably drank profusely and wept silently in his most private moments.
The Boss didn't let Snake win; Such a thing would have been an insult to both him, and herself. She gave her all in that final fight, not only because she knew he was capable of taking it, and that it was the least she could do after putting him through so much shit, but also because they were both born warriors. She didn't say "Let's make these the best 10 minutes of our lives." just for show.
Snake usually just repeats what the other guy is saying but in the form of a question 90% of the time but this is one of the only moments where he just listens.
Just imagine an alternate ending where you let The Boss live. She gets the philosopher's legacy, reaches her noble goals, overturns the corrupt establishments trying to kill her, prevents all out war, continues to mentor Snake, be a mother to Ocelot...
If they ever do a remake of Snake Eater, I really hope they put this ending in, give the game (and the series) an optional happy ending, only for a Game Over screen to appear, as you Campbell call on the Codec "Snake you can't do that, you've created a Time Paradox.
The most terrible part (for me) was that i wasn't able to spare her life. I wait, wait.. I was struggling by the fact of killing her or not. Loosing one of the greatest person the world has carrying or let her live.. Revisiting the past doesn't leave me the choice, i have the obligation to kill her. I cried, cried like a baby when i pull the trigger.
"Light is but a farewell gift from the darkness to those on their way to die." When she delivers that line, she sounds like she walked right out of a Cowboy Bebop episode. Soooo... Cooool...
12:49 “I raised you, and loved you, I’ve given you weapons, taught you techniques, endowed you with knowledge. There’s nothing more for me to give you. All that’s left for you to take in my life."
What's with the Spanish subtitles? I don't know if you realize it, but the Spanish subtitles for this game are terrible and sometimes they don't even match the intent of a particular phrase. This translation screams for a revision!
AdamSpencer87 Don't get me wrong, I love this moment in the game and I'm grateful for the upload, but the Spanish translation for Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater are the reason why I don't ever recommend MGS to people in my country. I've yet to understand how they could've fucked it up so bad, especially taking into account how accurate the first MGS translation was. Well, except for the ending where Spanish Naomi ruins the whole message of the game by stating that: "Uno debe aceptar estar encadenado al destino, ser gobernado por tus genes". Hopefully, sometime in the future games (as books) will enjoy of translation revisions for repackaging purposes. One can only hope!
Thundernoob88 2:50 "Piénsalo bien... cuando estaba a cargo de los Cobras, ." | That last part translates to "America and Russia were fighting against each other" when it actually should say: "...América y Rusia luchaban juntos." This is a disastrous mistake because it destroys the whole intent of that line, the whole idea becomes confusing as the dialog starts contradicting itself and the message of the game is completely and utterly lost. I don't know about other Indo-European MGS translations, but for the Spanish one there are lots of examples even worst than this one. I encourage you to look them up for yourself, because even if you posses only a basic understanding of the language you'll surely spot them as they are abhorrently obvious!

'Will America and Russia still be enemies in the 21st century?'
Yeah about that...
Hey, this century still has 78 years to go!
Eva's tape at the end of MGS3 says "Her memory, her debriefing...will endure only in your heart."
Snake is the character we, the players control, he's the bridge between us and the world of Metal Gear.
A GMC is just a Chevy with the bolts tightened.
Not just 2017 and on. It's been like this always. Just look at this arms race with the 3 philosopher nations (US, Russia, and China). It's all it is. Competition. Mankind thrives off conflict.
Juan Zingarello thanks for replying to my comment...it’s been a long time.
Trust me, they both do. Or at least Hayter. Damn Kojima for changing Snake's voice actor.
+Bestgameplayer10 sutherland was necessary for the plot twist venom-big boss...
serius man Yeah but the Big Boss' voice is different too. And it would've been just fine with Hayter.
yeah, thats the bad thing. They should do david hayter in ground zeroes, and then change the voice actor on the phanton pain. Its nine years of coma, and you dont play with big boss, they could tell the guy you played that his voice changed due to the acident. it would make more sense.
***** It wouldn't make sense but it would make enough sense lol

They didnt remake the entire game and port it to a pachinko machine
Well he did sort of got in trouble with Konami even before MGS5 was released..... so not like it was possible. But i would love a remake of MG1 and MG2 MSX ones
The day is almost here, my friend.
They make you pull the trigger at the end... Its so sad and beautiful. It always hits me hard.
This is one of the most emotional endings in video games...... especially the salute at the end.
"You're a soldier, finish your mission!"
The boss really was one of the best characters from any game ever
Big Boss was the Solid Snake of his generation: A legendary soldier who forged powerful friendships, felt that the battlefield was his home and suffered a lot of tragedies.
However, his journey is the dark mirror to Solid Snake's one, as we see how consumed he is by his pain and tragedy to the point of becoming the very thing he despised.
Big Boss is Solid Snake, but gone wrong.
Solid was the clone of big boss
This is a paralell oh the story of Anakin Skywalker (Big Boss) and Luke Skywalker (Solid Snake)
14:49 That has got to be Hayter's most subdued delivery for Snake. It's heartbreaking. "Why are you giving me this"
I'm here to re-appreciate the monologue of The boss. Although I loved it already, I didn't appreciate it enough the first time I played it. A work of art this game♡♡♡♡♡♡
This fantastic game came out in 2005 and the graphics and effects are still so fucking good 11 years later!!!
You know this is the HD collection right? The regular PS2 version had blurred, fuzzy visuals.
I was born in 2005
ok? good job on outracing the other sperm i guess?
the hd collection changed absolutely nothing about the visuals exept for the resolution and that HDMI finally brought consoles to the picture quality standards pc already had in the 90s. so the hd collection is basically just a 2005 pc version minus the different controls.
@Johnny Carmine but nobody ever claimed that gta sa had good graphics - just a big world without load times.
This was the moment that would haunt Big Boss for the rest of his life.
this changed my life
TheJimmy1208 Same here
Mine too
The story in this game seemed really emotional and easy to follow. I never found myself questioning things too much or looking into things. The characters and relationships they had were very moving all very believable and I can see what people meant by big boss being more relatable then solid snake. Graphics were gorgeous, music is lovely and really good, gameplay is fun, it's really good.
Current year: 2022
Thanks to current events, the Boss' dream seems close to reality.
The world will be one, for better or worse.
Its crazy how the events of this day in 1964 haunted big boss for the rest of his life. Even in mgs peace walker he had flashbacks where you have to kill the boss all over again in a lucid dream and you actually have to press the button to shoot.
If someone doubt that Boss is Snake's mother is an ignorant human being... DNA Don't make you a parent...
There's no modern game that could be more sad than this master piece.
I men at the final

My history teachear did not believe a thing about this. I put it in a test... haha.
No matter how many times I watch this, I still feel emotional. What a great character.
A true Woman, true soldier and great master.
thats why MGS3 is the best game ever! I love the boss/the Joy.
You know what the developers did here, with our emotions?
In the words on Kazuhira Miller:
"They played us like a damn fiddle!"
The thing that makes these games good is they are just oozing with symbolism.
I just can't get over how shes the same voice actor as Pearl from SpongeBob
Also Diane Simmons from Family Guy.
To think Kojima and company were tired of Metal Gear and they went and made this game.. truly talented people.
And with that, Big Boss set out to create a society where soldiers would never be abused by their governments ever again.
But only Solid Snake and Ocelot really do all the work. Which everyone forgets.
TheZombout wrong. Ocelot does so basically at the behest of Big Boss right when he meets him in the hospital after Ground Zero lol.
Alloosh Big Boss didn’t want more control. The whole point is Solid did what he and the Boss would have wanted. It was Liquid who technically waned the control.
Which he fucks up every step of the way
My favorite battle in MGS along with favorite part.
Nothing can top this pure art
Not even KOJIMA himself..
Fun fact: The Boss shares a voice actress with Pearl from Spongebob Squarepants!
I will remember this series fondly
This for me without doubt was the best video game ever. Thank you Video Kojima and Knoami team.
Can i just say how great the story telling was in this game and the voice acting was superb especially the woman who voice the boss
Her voice actor is the same person who voices pearl in spongebob.
2:57 she was wrong, sadly
But isn't Putin against NATO that the us have? Didn't they start a war and many people died? I don't get you.
@@technologic21 you got that right. Sadly, they represent their countries...
Somehow I doubt it."
I wish that her doubts were well placed.
"That day, when I killed the Boss... with my own hands... I was already dead." -Big Boss/Naked Snake, 2014.
I still got goosebumps when snake pulls the trigger even though I’ve played this game countless times since it came out
We could learn a thing or two from the Boss' monologue
War sucks and we all are human beings
When i first played this game in 2nd grade i didn't entirely understand the story of the game but i understood the relationship the boss and snake had and made me cry when i had to kill her back then.
12:05 listen to her voice quiver, you can tell she's in pain, but it doesnt hurt... this game hit me deep
"Why.. To make the world one again.." *Tears*
The part where The Boss says about Enemies. She is absolutely right.
"To make the world one again."
ily so much boss 😭😭😭
At the very least, to fake her death in a believable way.
I use her words so wisely that an enemy can be a friend and also understood that time is your ally and not your enemy
Geekreg Luckily in MGSV, you have the same situation with Quiet but you can choose not to pull the trigger.

In every game I play, that was the one bullet I wish I never fired. The boss is humanity in a character. Shooting her, killed a part of my soul.
The saddest cutscene in the video game history.
Juan Bertero Yeah, but it helps to latin-spanish speakers who don't know english to understand what they are saying.
Juan Bertero Can you show any more examples of the bad spanish translation? Im honestly curious lol
Thundernoob88 2:50 "Piénsalo bien... cuando estaba a cargo de los Cobras, ." | That last part translates to "America and Russia were fighting against each other" when it actually should say: "...América y Rusia luchaban juntos."
This is a disastrous mistake because it destroys the whole intent of that line, the whole idea becomes confusing as the dialog starts contradicting itself and the message of the game is completely and utterly lost. I don't know about other Indo-European MGS translations, but for the Spanish one there are lots of examples even worst than this one. I encourage you to look them up for yourself, because even if you posses only a basic understanding of the language you'll surely spot them as they are abhorrently obvious!
It's Spanish from Spain main language since the U.S. Are good friends with Spanish people
