  • Singer is the founder and director of Outreach Judaism, a Jewish counter-missionary organization. It describes itself as "an international organization that responds directly to the issues raised by missionaries and cults, by exploring Judaism in contradistinction to fundamentalist Christianity." Singer cautions regarding congregations that "are designed to appear Jewish, but are actually fundamentalist Christian churches, which use traditional Jewish symbols to lure the most vulnerable of our Jewish people into their ranks." Outreach Judaism was described by J. Gordon Melton in 2002 as an example of "the current state of Jewish counter-cult activity."
Rabbi Tovia Singer wanted to understand why Jews have been persecuted throughout history so he read the New Testament and found out why they have been targeted. It appears Rabbi Tovia Singer has devoted his life to showing how the authors of the New Testament corrupted the Hebrew scriptures in the Septuagint. He shows how Paul manipulated the text just as bad as modern tv preachers to suite his gentile audience.

My only problem with the good Rabbi, is that if I apply the same logic to Judaism...... Im gonna end up with babylonian, Egyptian, Greek, Persian Canaanite influences. Whats original about Judaism? Even circumcision predates Israel. However i appreciate his ideas and scholarship.

@Dj The Shooter Even the Hebrew script comes from Phoenician which has its roots in even earlier forms of writing. The Nation of Israel comes into existence at the end of the bronze age not the beginning lol. Civilizations had been born and gone out of existence long before Adam was supposedly created.

@Dj The Shooter Why does he needs a source? Do you need a source that fire is hot?
This is generally accepted among scholars. The Greek script also comes from Phoenician.
I don't think it's a secret either that Baal and God have the same titles and both seems to have some 'Ashera' on his side. During Solomons time people were worshipping all kinds of gods, which were later combined to be 1. Yet traditions and rituals of these old gods were re-used. And we find the same rituals in earlier Canaanite areas. Even the pottery style is the same, which you wouldn't suspect if the Jews came from Egypt.
They were basically the same people, with the southern part adopting monotheism at some point. Which caused a civil war leading to demonizing and propaganda.
At some point they even developed their own origins story to distance themselves even further from the north.

She lives in the Galilee, in Peki'in and is a direct descendant of the Levite Priests in Jerusalem who fled from the Revolt against Rom and has possessions of theirs to prove it. She's nearly 90 years old and is the only Jew besides, arguably, the Samaritans and the Yemeni Jews, who can directly trace her tribal ancestry.

I never was a Hebrew Israelite, because I was born in a Jewish family, therefore, I have always been Jewish. I never became an atheist, because the communists compelled me to ridicule all other religions, while indoctrinating me into Marxism-Leninism. I like the myth, the warmth and the history of my people/religion, that allows me to practice it a la carte. Atheists have a tendency to believe that they are equal to gods. Judaism is just as easy to disprove. They are really polytheists as the gods EL (Elohim) and YA (Yahweh) are different gods. The also believe in minor gods (angels) that had their own minor cults all over the Levant. Judaism went through the same process of mythification of its main characters (aka Moses) and forgery / rejigging of their sacred texts (check how the earlier prophets reinterpret failed prophecies from previous prophets). Christianity was basically the product of a Judaic sect that was trying to reinterpret a bunch of failed prophecies in view of the utter destruction brought upon Judea by the Roman Empire.
Of course the smoking gun is that the main staples in the Torah are rip off versions of Sumerian, Akkadian and Egyptian stories.

    • @user-bo8nb2mi
      @user-bo8nb2mi ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hashem is referred to as Elohim in the plural, as a sign of respect (in English this is called "the Royal We"). Whenever Hashem is called Elohim, in the Torah, the verb is always in the singular. As in the oft repeated phrase "Va'y'daber Elohim..." - "And God spoke..." - the verb "spoke" is in the singular.
A careful investigation of the actual use of this word in the Jewish Scriptures unequivocally shows that ’Elohim, while plural in form, is singular in concept. In biblical Hebrew, many singular abstractions are expressed in the plural form, e.g., rachamim, “compassion” (Genesis 43:14, Deuteronomy 13:18); zekunim, “old age” (Genesis 21:2, 37:3, 44:20); n‘urim, “youth” (Isaiah 54:6, Psalms 127:4).
      Here's example:
As in known to too many parents, when father and mother don't agree on matters of discipline, the child can always escape the rigorous demands that discipline always requires, by appealing to the other parent's mercy. When the child succeeds in this maneuver, he remains undisciplined and may often cause a battle between the gods of the household, while he walks away Scott-free.
Such is the heresy of "serving" many gods!

Could it be different words but mean the same thing , For and example there's a verse ,I was blind but now I see ,I was in darkness but now I ve come into the marvelous light . So it could mean being ignorant and being thought now I know. Just my view. 🤔 Great Work.

I see more then not that atheists and other religions seems to team up against Christianity so I want to defend my faith and the Way.I am gonna give you prove that God exist and this comes from the bible.---The apostel Paul wrote in the book of Romans that God give prove that he exist through his invisible quality. So how can God expect us to believe he exist if the only thing he gives us as prove is invisible? This scripture could not have been understood without the help of scientists. Scientists studied the universe and came up with the theory of dark matter/energy. They say this energy are everywhere, that it will always exist, that it (speeds up the galaxies),that it is (invisible),that they don't know what it is, that it goes against the laws of nature and against the laws of mathematics because according to those laws the universe was by now supposed to be slowing down at least and even have started imploding in on itself but it is doing the opposite and this proves that it exist. So now let's go to Isaiah 40:22"-It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers;that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:"-So here God says that it is he that spreads out the heavens(scientists agree but call it energy who speeds up the galaxies),same thing said just different terminology used. In verse 13 of Isaiah 40 it say ----who have directed the Spirit of God,etcetera-----So we know that God does almost everything through his holy spirit which is his invisible quality, which scientists call dark matter/energy, which spreads out/speeds up the heavens/galaxies and goes against the laws of nature and against the laws of mathematics thereby proving it's existence and because it is the spirit of God it also proves that God exist.

And in light of question 7 the Bible says this was a one time occurrence. 9) Why is Israel an inheritance given to Yahweh from El the most High? Isn't this polytheism? 10) Where does the Noahide concept come from, because it's not spelled out in Tanakh? To get the whole picture id like to point out that if you read a little further into Deuteronomy in the next chapter 31:14-30 and 32 you will find out that it was indeed hard for Israel to choose life over death. Furthermore if it is not hard or out of reach then why look for a Messiah. They clearly don't need him all they have to do is to willingly choose life. What are your thoughts?

That's interesting- the Arabic word for the same thing is عاقر, _'aqir(ah),_ _barren._ I've noticed that in my studies of Biblical Hebrew, that's it's basically Arabic. The similarities are so strong that often the grammar is exactly the same, and the cognate words are maybe a consonant or two different, but recognizable. Most of the difference seems to often be in the vowels. If Biblical Hebrew were written in the Arabic script, I feel like I'd be able to read it with little difficulty. Such a fun language!

Caeayaron is very clear Divine beings are not into punishment or hurting creation, plus they respect free will. However, given consciousness creates reality then Divine beings don't have to judge us as human consciousness is such a low frequency of consciousness, we now understand existence without love. Divine beings are offering us our treasures of life, back, which we lost in Lemuria / The Garden of Eden, because human consciousness is not considered to be alive and that is why these spaces have been spaces of entropy.

I enjoy the ways in which the Rabbi counters mistakes, misapprehensions, contradictions, and unsupported and some downright illogical conclusions that abound within Christianity. Ask the 30+ Nations that are decimated as Moses and Joshua rampage their way into the promised land. @Please Complete All Fields now here's where we may disagree. Since Christianity claims to be axiomatic with Judaism in the sense that it claims the identical God with 'new material' and ideas that dovetails onto the former, it gives the former religion the right and opportunity to expose all the reasons why the new faith is false or inconsistent with the former; I have no problem with that.
It reminds me of the joke:
"Why did God create Mormons?.... - So Christian's would know how the Jews feel".
I would agree with you if a Jew or Christian were attempting to critique Hinduism (as they're ENTIRELY different religions with completely different God concepts).
BTW, in terms of his scholarship, I think the Rabbi successfully eviscerates any notion that Jesus was the Jewish messiah (much less God) as he exposes all the intentional mistranslations, fabrications, verses taken out of context in Jewish scripture to create the appearance of Jesus fulfilling prophecy, etc.
Regardless to a specific 'compare and contrast' analysis, it (or any religion) breaks down for me when its claims and assertions don't scale to the evidence.

    • @davidlenett8808
      @davidlenett8808 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Please Complete All Fields Perhaps I didn't articulate my points clearly. I don't believe in the faith claims of Judaism because, (like every other faith claim), they fall short in their burden of proof arguments, however, let's say I'm critiquing a work of fiction (Harry Potter, for example) and in Harry Potter certain mystical concepts and ideas are presented by the author as truthful in the fictional world she has created. [i.e., Character A made a magic purple cupcake all by himself without help from ANYONE.]
If, many years later, a new author comes along who is attracted to the original story and writes "Harry Potter Part 2" making the claim that it's simply a continuation of the first, it makes itself vulnerable to valid criticism if and when the 'new' book presents concepts and ideas that expose serious conflicts with the original, especially if the new material, 'changes', 'distorts' or invents new material that he claims seamlessly fits into the original author's vision.
[Remember when Character A made a magic purple cupcake, all by himself? Well, don't believe him, he relied on character B to help him out].
In this way, a conflict and contradiction has been exposed that is difficult to reconcile.
Regardless of whether or not you and I believe the original story is a work of fiction or not, we can still compare, contrast and evaluate the content and claims of both bodies of literature (for plot holes and internal contradictions) ESPECIALLY when the new story is claiming to simply be a continuation of the first (this is what makes it axiomatic).
Of course, you're welcome to listen to any one of the Rabbi's 24 part audio series to determine if he's not being fair in his 'compare and contrast' analysis. I listened to them all several years ago and found his arguments to be sound and compelling from a scholarly perspective. Does this mean I believe the Jewish theistic claims are true? NO, - just that the Christian claims do not dovetail onto the first theology for many, many reasons too numerous to mention in a casual conversational exchange on TH-cam.
All the arguments are presented for free on this website if you really have any interest in assessing the fairness and integrity of his methodology.

A great discussion and I don't dispute Rabbi Singer's scholarship that points to all the, 'non-kosher' ingredients that went into the Christian porridge. However, the Rabbi conveniently fails to acknowledge all the alien notions that likewise finds it's way into the Jewish faith.
    TL;DR ☆☆ Warning:
    For example, what was the
    Persian influence on Judaism?
    Persians conquered Judea 539-332 B.C.
The conquering nation tears the most learned thought leaders away from Jerusalem and allow them to become subjects of the empire and preserve their religious beliefs/identity. To those who believe Jews would NEVER permit alien ideas to influence their religious conceptions, think again. Prior to their exposure to the Persian religion, Zoroastrianism, there was no Good vs. Evil duality, (where God was engaged in a conflict against disobedient, malevolent forces) in Jewish writings,... - no defined Heaven or hell concept after life ended - it just ended. No dramatic, end time conflict where dark powers array themselves against the forces of light,... where good prevails over evil ushering in the promise of a MESSIANIC era, in which things are 'set right' and peace and harmony is restored and God reigns supreme. There was no resurrection of the dead belief where the neshema (soul) is restored to its physical body and where the holy temple is also physically restored (along with the resumption of the sacrificial system). These new conceptions were all the pungent flavorings of Zoroastrianism grafted onto and mixed into the porridge of Jewish theological ideas. But wait! The religious recipe was far from being fully baked,... more ingredients were yet to be added to the cake mix. You see, the Greeks conquer Judea in 332 - 110 B.C.E. and then, the Romans conquer Judea after them (63 B.C. - 636 A.D.). Indeed, we find in Judaism, a veritable smorgasbord of supernatural ponderings that shaped, and guided and influenced Jewish ideas about their God and the world to come and through the lens of this historical context, I find myself becoming aware of an unsettling truth.
God did not deliver fixed Jewish theological positions in the form of a singular clearly defined holy dispatch from, on high. Not at all. These ideas, evolved OVER TIME! They too were formed & shaped, not by God, but by MEN whose ideas were formed and shaped by all the theological ruminations Jewish thought leaders were exposed to in the great cauldron of speculative supernatural splendor that animates the human imagination. Those who think the secret recipe was provided complements of a singular God at a singular moment in history (on Mount Sinai) have hid their faces from historical reality. The religion evolved and religious ideas, rather resembled a highly malleable piece of clay, shaped, pressed, stretched and rolled under the powerful ideas God pondering editors encountered in all the different places they find themselves marinating in.
The proof of this is found in all the different cupcakes on offer in the biblical bakery of belief. In Judaism, we find the Essenes, Kairites, Sadducees and Pharisees... early Christianity (Ebionites) were not some hermetically sealed theological entity separated from Judaism, -not at all, early Christianity IS JUDAISM. They (like their messiah) were Jews and, as Jews, they embraced their Jewish identities, observed their Jewish holidays and observed Jewish laws ... just with new, updated insights that encompassed their exposure to ideas that evolved to include a syncretism of the God ideas they found themselves swimming in. And, surprise, surprise, we find in this early Jewish sect, surrounding the person of Yeshuah, a range of different beliefs as they sought to define meanings and get a sense of who and what they were and what they stood for... different Jewish communities that followed Yeshuah embrace different testimonies -(as many a 40 or more) before the disparate ideas were distilled into a more consolidated view through the efforts of the Pagan Roman emperor, Constantine. These later iterations would dismantle much of its earlier, Jewish theological doctrine in favor of more palatable ingredients (found in the Roman theological pantries) provoking Rabbi Singer's sentiment that, "Rome didn't convert to Christianity, Christianity converted to Rome!" And, at this point, the point when the new Jewish sect had morphed into a religion where many ideas central to the Jewish faith (like the oneness of God) was removed, the Jewish people by and large removed themselves from it, rejecting, by and large, the new theology that became, theologically speaking, a bridge too far as the Church moved on to focus on a much larger target, gentile subscriptions.
The reality of the, very mortal processing of religious ideas is lost to believers who embrace their stories at close range but for those who are not tethered by deep emotional restraints, who are free to pull back and view the subject at a revealing distance and altitude, from these vantage points, the full spectrum of historical context (with all their influences) is exposed; we can more easily 'see' and tease out all the threads, connections, and engagement with the 'outside' world, we can see more clearly all the ideas and influences that are added to the mix with a type of clinical objectivity fundamentalism, (including Rabbi Singer) is not permitted to acknowledge.
And BTW, I love Rabbi Singer.👈💕

@David Tucker I could no more disprove Jesus any more than I could disprove Fairies, Gnomes, and Elves. All supernatural suppositions reside in that protected sweet spot of being both unprovable and unfalsifiable. I was, however, curious enough to take a deep dive into the Christian claims, having read several apologetic books including, "Evidence that Demands a Verdict" by Josh McDowell and, "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel (in addition to many debates and discussions on the TH-cam platform).
Christian's, on the other hand, generally steer clear of any thoughtful challenges to their faith claims, so I'm gonna guess you never listened to a single one of Rabbi Singers 24 part, "Let's Get Biblical" audio series; essentially, the Jewish response to the Christian missionaries. - I listened to the entire series.
Using only the bible as his source material, he completely eviscerates the Christian case, so if you're 'truly' interested in understanding why the Jews rejected Jesus (from a true scholar) instead of bantering with this armchair philosopher I suggest you check it out:

Your solution? Read it again.
Look, I'm happy you derive meaning and purpose from these stories, but I went on a much deeper dive than most ever do but, at the end of the day (analysis), Christianity gets added to the scrap pile of 1,000 other deistic notions (999 of which, we BOTH agree are completely made up).

"Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whosoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine" (Exod. 13:2). Weasely apologists claim this means that the children were consecrated to the service of God, but that is baloney. How do we know that? Because God says so: "Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgements whereby they should not live; And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the Lord" (Ezek. 20:25-26).

@abraham mani please consider that the catastrophe of the destruction of 2nd temple and Bar Kochbananen was caused by Daniels gals predictions of a comming messiah who will liberate and Blabla. This caused the believe of the Jews that they should fight the Romans after the „Seven Week“. It turned out to be a big misunderstanding and finally tha Flavians thought, they were „the Massiah“ according to the predictions. What a grotesk nightmare they brought on the Jewish people. Everyone who claims to know „gods plan“ is a pretentious imposter In every religion and a menace to society!

    • @LM-jz9vh
      @LM-jz9vh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Abraham Mani He was also following a common trope. Yahweh isn't real.
"When we say…Jesus Christ…was produced without sexual union, and was crucified and died, and rose again, and ascended to heaven, ***we propound nothing new or different*** *from what you believe regarding those whom you call Sons of God. [In fact]…if anybody objects that [Jesus] was crucified, this is in* ***common*** *with the sons of Zeus (as you call them) who suffered, as previously listed [he listed Dionysus, Hercules, and Asclepius].* Since their fatal sufferings are all narrated as not similar but different, so his unique passion should not seem to be any worse."
*Note how Justin (Martyr) is less of a fool than modern Christian apologists. He admits that differences don’t matter.* Since each and every one of the suffering and dying gods are slain by different means, one cannot argue the mytheme requires exactly the same means of death. “But Osiris can’t have inspired the Jesus myth because Osiris wasn’t nailed to a cross” is a stupid argument. The mytheme is simply death. Being killed. Suffering and dying. The exact mode of death can vary freely. It makes no difference to the existence and influence of the mytheme. It’s simply the particular instantiation of a generic abstraction. *And Justin’s argument (that Satan invented these fake religions to confuse people) entails Justin agreed the mytheme existed: indeed, it was demonically promulgated, multiple times. Intentionally.*
*Likewise, Justin notices the mytheme is not virgin birth, but sexless conception. Of which many examples had already been popularized in pagan mythology (there just happens to also have been examples of actual virgin born gods as well). And by his argument (that the Devil was deliberately emulating the Jesus mytheme, in advance), Justin clearly accepted the same principle for “rising again” after death:* the particular exact metaphysics of the resurrection could, like the exact method of death or conception, vary freely. The mytheme consists solely of the abstraction: returning to life. Somehow. Some way. We will say bodily, at the very least. But what sort of body (the same one, a new one, a mortal one, an immortal one), didn’t matter. *If it had, Justin would have made the argument that “those gods” weren’t really resurrected. But that argument, never occurs to him. Nor did it to any other apologist of the first three centuries.*
*Ancient Christians well knew there was nothing new about their dying-and-rising god. Not in respect to the mytheme.* Their claims were solely that his particular instantiation of it was better, and the only one that actually happened. *They didn’t make up the stupid modern arguments that dying-and-rising god myths didn’t exist or weren’t part of a common mytheme everyone knew about. For example, in the same century, Tertullian, in Prescription against Heretics 40, makes exactly the same argument as Justin. Funny that. They had better access to the evidence than we do. They knew what was really and widely the case. We should listen to them.*

his name isn’t Jesus (it’s Iesus). There is no prophecy of a second coming. There is no prophecy of a virgin birth, rather, the messiah is prophesied as a familial descendent of King David.
The Messiah is to bring global peace recognizing the Hebrew God as the true god - this has never happened, more wars have been fought, innocence slaughtered, indigenous enslaved on behalf of the Christian God.
      There are many more.
In addition, Deuteronomy 24:16 completely destroys the premise of the Christian Bible.
I am entertaining the Christian Bible as literally true which, evidently, it’s not.
Daniel (if he existed) would have followed the false prophet commands in Deuteronomy 13. The Jewish people were very religious, steeped in mysticism which is why they did not get along with the Roman Empire,m who was empirical force that spit in the face of the Jewish faith - Iesus is a character in a Greco-Roman composed storybook who does not meet ALL prophecies in the Hebrew Bible. Of course they reject him.

A very intelligent conversation, and really eye opening or should be anyways, to Christians who still think they're god is the same god as the god of the jews....so obviously not the case. Rabbi Tovia is great to listen to, well read and well spoken, but I do find it strange that he still believes in a god based on no good convincing evidence. He speaks of god and the fact that there is a heaven and a hell as if he actually knows this to be true, when the truth is, no one knows. And I also find it interesting how near the end he talks about god being faithful to the Jews after the holocaust....I wanted so badly to ask him, where was god during the holocaust? Why did god allow 11 million Jews to be brutally murdered? What kind of loving and all powerful god would allow 11 million of his "chosen people" to die so terribly? Opportunity missed indeed! Great talk though!

They were 2 different gods of one hebrew/canaanite pantheon. Singer considers Christianity as man made nonsense but doesnt say the same truth about his religion Judaism who took mystical stories from other people as well eg from Indo-Aryans and their Vedic texts (eg Noah was known as Manu in vedic texts as progenitor of mankind and Manu is related to Mannus in ancient germanic religion there he is too a progenitor of mankind, a reoccuring mystical figure among Indo-Europeans) , from Sumerians, Assyrians and Akkdians and their texts about Annunaki gods (in those texts it was described that man was made with mud... ), from ancient egyptians and their texts..... All abrahamic religions were man made and refer to other religions. Its not happening only in Christianity.

Not from what I've read over the last 6 months so I see the typical for and against arguments are held by either side.
The Revelation of Jesus tells of things to come that have actually materialized. Good is evil and evil is good today.
Has that always been true? It could be, but there is that part about delusion, a great delusion, that seems to be very much a part of what we are seeing and probably have never seen on a scale this large.
Butchering and chemically castrating young people like the child sacrifices of the days before Jesus are becoming more acceptable. Fifty million abortions a year worldwide are children sacrificed on the alter of self love.
This is truly not a good thing when the most vulnerable are created and discarded in the name of lust and freedom of choice.
We are entering another epic threat of world wide communism preceded by socialism by not nearly as much time as previously and that is going to be accompanied by even greater numbers of deaths from starvation and executions for being against the "State".
Are you sure you want to champion something that will soon see you as an expendable commodity of useless eaters by the new leaders?

37:45 "blameless" is a translation meaning "without craftiness" it does not mean without sin. Jews often were crafty in going against Jewish law. Forinstance: Renting your land during the time you were supposed to let the field go fallow, surcomventing what is ecologically beneficial to the soil. There were endless ways for "craftiness " to get around. Jewish law.

It’s interesting that Rabbi Singer would say it’s “the easiest” to disprove when so much time and effort is spent on attempting to do so here, yet it cannot and will not be stopped.
Rabbi Singer you do have amazing hair, however, so I think you’ve got something going there.
As for what you stated about Paul, Christ can be in us. It means inside of our hearts which refers to being part of us. This isn’t pagan in any way because it’s simply about love for Him. As we follow Him we can be more like Him, and the more we’re like Him the more we’ll recognize Him in our lives.

I think Christians (at least those true to Christian doctrine) can’t be personal or friendly toward people who disagree with them because they believe that person is going to hell and they deem it best to distance oneself from such a traumatic fate. Where there is less intimacy, there is less pain.

Well I’m not religious, but I know enough from my youth that Jesus broke bread with hell bound people. My understanding of Christian doctrine is that we are all “made in God’s image” and there for must be respected as such - hell bound people are also made in God’s image they just currently are not choosing to close the distance between themselves and God or some such thing. Also there’s the old, Prodigal Son thing, every one, including atheist and non believer is given free will, and the thing is for one to find one’’s way to got via their own volition, in their own time. Christianity is not so much a religion, i.e. something you join, as it is a decision to have a relationship with God and that subjective, subjective to one’s own mind, one’s own experiences etc…

I think that’s often the case, but it’s also why I actually find some well-intentioned missionaries’ efforts to be moving. Any true spiritual salvation would transcend our earthly notions of pleasure and pain. What pain would fire be to an eternal soul with knowledge of the Ultimate Truth?
