2:20 is what always gets me. i consider this track to be the most emotionally powerful one by far of the whole OST because of what it conveys. cloud is broken. the whole party is, but really, cloud especially because of how disconnected he is from reality at this point. this track and the part of it that i highlighted is what captures such a dark and foreboding feeling of isolation and sadness in the form of the impending grief that is yet to come. cloud at this point thinks everything is okay. he thinks aerith is with us. this is the most broken he's ever been mentally, and all we can do as the player is watch him in this false state of satisfaction. it's uncomfortable. the whole party is uncomfortable. what jenova is doing to cloud's mind is cruel in a way words can't quite describe, but i think this song paints the picture vividly.
Thank you so much for uploading this! 😭 I saw many people say that the music that plays during the part where Cloud walks up to Aerith, holds her and asks her to wake up is a different arrangement of the Main/Clouds theme. Wanted to share that with forever because I feel like that shows how Cloud clearly cares about her and wants her to wake up so bad that his theme is the one playing 😭 Thank you again for uploading this! Hopefully they release this specific soundtrack in the future its so good
Thank you very much.❤ This right here in my Head is even much more brutal then the OG Version. Everybody knows Aerith is dead. But not Cloud. I think the Jenova in him let him think he saved her. This is really brutal. Sephiroth/Jenova dosen't even allow him to grieve or cry about. No they even let him think he can be happy that he saved her.💔
Its case of two realities. Two different timelines,. Ive watched the ending a number of times and this is prob the best explanation for it. In one reality Cloud saved Aerith (you can see the rainbow effect, which is what happens when a new reality is created due to new events happening...esp outside of OG ff7 timeline). You see this same rainbow effect happen when Zack decides to go to shinra to get a cure for cloud, instead of going after biggs. (and we also see the timeline where he goes and sees biggs instead only to see him die etc). Also, the scene where Aerith looks like she got stabbed and she didn't (how it switches up back and forth) is literally the OG ff7 scene and the alternate reality playing out at the same time! This is why we see cloud saying the OG ff7 speech of Aeriths death, and we also simply see a tear rolling down his face in the alternate universe, with no speech). Then the end scene we see cloud walking up to Aerith surrounded by the group, and the alternate reality where he walks up to her alone. This is not his mind playing tricks (see above) as there's literally two different timelines in play here. In the group one, its the OG ff7 timeline, where Aerith is dead, and in the "new" timeline, shes alive. Whether she survives in this timeline is what we'll see in part 3. Unfortuntaley the game reverts back to the OG FF7 timeline. Now, say for arguments sake that Cloud is hallucinating that Aerith is still alive. The argument against this is that: Tifa, like cloud also sees the two versions of Aerith, one with blood and one without (clearly can't be just clouds mind then). She can see this because of her time in the lifestream (being inside the whale, which gives her a moment here to see the alternate reality). But Sephiroths plan all along is to "merge" all the different timelines into one. He's said this himself, so we can most likely see Rebirth Aerith come into the main timeline at this point!

Thank you so much for posting this! Nobody else has uploaded this yet. The piano at 3:08 to 3:40 is so hauntingly beautiful.
