Eckhart Tolle on Transforming Suffering into Awakening

  • Eckhart Tolle explores the common misconceptions surrounding happiness and the true purpose of life's challenges. He explains that the world is not meant to make us happy but to make us conscious, and that growth occurs through overcoming difficulties. Eckhart Tolle discusses how psychological suffering can lead to an awakening, revealing that much of our unhappiness is self-created. He emphasizes the importance of presence and finding peace even in moments of sadness. Ultimately, Eckhart Tolle suggests that recognizing the ego's role in our suffering can help us transcend it and experience a deeper sense of peace.
Eckhart describes the suffering inherent in the pursuit of “egoic fulfillment” and how turning to the mind rarely, if ever, produces inspired solutions. In this foundational talk, he shares guidance on remaining rooted in presence as we meet the challenges of our lives. Learn More: bit.ly/YT-trascending-ego

I am 83 and going through a long period of physical challenges to wit I do not believe this time I will recover. We all know that something will take us out sooner or later and this time I’ve met my match. My husband does not fully accept my conclusion but that’s ok. Thank goodness I “found” Eckhart these last two years;better late than never. And I was always a late bloomer according to my beloved Mother. Thank you Eckhart for being with me on the latter days of my journey…you were truly God sent or my version of a Higher Being. I am taking my ego-mind with me to the end, but at least he knows that he is no longer in the driver’s seat, but an old companion/passenger in the back seat who no longer holds the road map to my life’s adventures. Much love and courage to all…

Facing your troubles head-on without denial is an important step, and you've taken it. Good for you.
Life and health are amalgamations of many factors. I've done many things right consistently, but I was missing sanctity, prayer and worship. Eckhart Tolle gave me the proper way to pray: being present and fully bringing yourself forth. And through Paul Chek I found my saint or deity, Quan Yin. She is a very powerful boddhisattva of compassion. I will pray for your suffering to alleviate tomorrow, because I believe in you. Much Love,

"If you don´t escape, if you allow the suffering to be there, if you are ready to face it, if you are not trying somehow to forget it, then you are different. Suffering is there but just around you; it is not in the center, it is on the periphery. It is impossible for suffering to be in the center; it is not in the nature of things. It is always on the periphery and you are the center.
So when you allow it to happen, you don´t escape, you don´t run, you are not in a panic, suddenly you become aware that suffering is there on the periphery as if happening to someone else, not to you, and you are looking at it. A subtle joy spreads all over your being because you have realized one of the basic truths of life, that you are bliss and not suffering."

Mr.Tolle most often makes the assumption that we pity ourselves over our miseries. In my opinion, the most severe cases of suffering mentally and spiritually are rooted in guilt and self-hatred: they're not saying:'poor me, why are the world so cruel to me', but: 'serves you right, you've only yourself to blame for your failure.'

Being intoxicated makes you feel happy momentarily and that is why so many people drink alcohol and do other drugs. Then, people associate happiness with the feeling of euphoria that drugs can provide. I have learned that contentment is really all I want and once I quit drinking alcohol, I can say that I am quite content with life, and actually happy most of the time.

A while ago, I was really confused because I kept getting advice from everyone that felt entirely wrong, and I couldn't figure out where the discrepancy came from between what I knew and felt and what they tried to convince me of - some had selfish reasons, but some clearly did mean well. In that situation, one of your videos recommended "A course in miracles", as not being for everyone, but being helpful for some. It was a revelation, thank you!! Sometimes what people perceive on the outside is not even close to what is really going on. And you can trust yourself and the other - but sometimes it can be immensely helpful to get an explanation mirrored back to you that fits your experience! Thank you!!

    So true🙏.
Whether willingly or painfully, suffering always opens a path for you.
You can choose to see a Light in it or you can choose to remain in the darkness, in the inability to realize your mistakes or rather your unawareness.
Maybe you can't choose it happens by itself. Honestly, I don't know.
✨However, whoever sees that Light can at least choose not to close their eyes.
    So grateful 💓🙏✨✨✨✨🌺

Life happens to those who are aware of it. Happiness is within all people and those people who become conscious will also find suffering as part of life. life does not exist without consciousness. When you find yourself being unhappy consider it to be a blessing and except it as it is your mind telling you so and that is all it is. Now you are aware of why you feel the way you do. You know how to stop the mind stuff if you have done your home work and read Eckharts books. A new Earth can take you there, you may still feel the suffering but with a feel good understanding of why and there in lies the healing process. By the way I am writing this on my wifes computer. my name is Tom Kelly

Hey Eckhart, when i finished reading The Power of Now I entered a state of associated eurphoria and heightened awareness. I felt the life force of a bonsai plant in front of me emanating as loud as a siren. I felt deep peace and relaxation and issues I was going thru shifted as pleasant means of changes and so much more. Also, I coincidently had to have a difficult conversation and I navigated it with such graceful precision- I was truly blown away. It later wore off that evening. A couple months later I had dental surgery and was given strong narcotics for the first time and the experience i had was similar to when I had finished your book. Interesting ehh? :)

Excellent understanding of inner peace! What is the statement you are making with the fruit, vegetables, and sun emojis!?
I understand it to mean that you can have even more inner peace if you eat properly and get some vit d. But I would like to know what you actually meant!

    • @CitrusSimon

@@instructivesilence359 This is about being present within the inner body. We give the body what it wants, rather than what the egoic mind thinks and believes that it needs!
Raw fruit, salads & vegetables are a human beings species specific foods. We have a inner body of a Frugivore. (This needs to be studied and experimented with. A good place to start would be to google 'Natural Hygiene.')
We also need sunlight energy for the inner body to function at an optimal level in the present moment, it brings us more clarity & focus.
The inner body is constantly in the present moment, at all times, as is every other animal in nature.
Indeed, we do gain a deeper sense of peace in the present moment, when we become established on our species specific foods.
Astonishing results await those who are brave enough to let go of what they think and believe, and travel, deep within...
Feeling half our age, energy in abundance, sleeping like babies, and growing older gracefully without any pain or medications.

      @@instructivesilence359 🍏🍎🍐🍊🍌🍉🍇🍓🍈🍒🍑🍍🍅🥝 🥑🥒🥗🌞

The statement I am making with the fruit, vegetables, and sun emojis, is about being fully present within the inner body
.
This is often overlooked in spiritual development, as many of us are not aware that it is even possible to be fully present within the inner body.

Firstly we have to discover, who and what we are, then discover what foods does the inner body prefer for optimal health of the inner body.

(Google ’Natural Hygiene.’ This will shed some light into who are what we are and our species specific foods of raw fruits, raw vegetables and raw salads. We are Frugivores.

)
Once the inner body is in a state of optimal health, which also requires sunlight energy, this becomes a solid reliable foundation to built our hopes and dreams upon over the longer term.

We all have an egoic mind, which is capable of thinking and believing what the inner body needs. It has various theories and belief systems about this, which has nothing to do with the reality of the inner body.

The inner body is a part of Nature, and it constantly operates in the present moment, just like any other species of animal or plant on our planet.

The only thing that does not live in the present moment is the egoic mind, which lives either in the past or the future.

Once a person lets go of their egoic mind, and becomes established on our species specific foods, and absorbing sunlight energy, then astonishing results happen.

A person feels younger, I feel half my age, I have energy all day long in abundance, sleep like a baby, and maybe the best thing all, is growing older gracefully into old age, without any pain, memory loss, or medications.

Eckhart has some amazing teachings on becoming present, and letting go of what we think, this is mainly to do with a shift in our consciousness, a perceptive ability.
He has deeply inspired me, and continues to do so.
Yet, even deeper still, is the inner body, independent of any idea or concept, that constantly operates in the present moment.

Once we align our consciousness within the inner body, we become liberated on the spiritual and physical levels, a incredible combination, that results in levels of presence and awareness, that results in joining with Nature.

 We become Nature.
No longer isolated with our own thoughts, fears, feelings, ideas, and belief systems
.
This is our victory over the egoic mind…
We Join with Nature, we become present with them!

It sounds simple, and it is, yet joining with the rest of Nature has such depths, insights, and perceptions, which the egoic mind finds totally unfathomable.

We no longer simply exist and survive like the egoic mind does, and we are transported into a world within the present moment, where vibrant health, wellbeing, bliss, joy and creativity are everyday normal events, we truly become alive.

The moment you become free is the moment you realise that nothing in life is "good" or "bad" it is a perspective . You can always have a preference but one thing is sure : Life don't make mistakes. It gives you opportunities/challenges 🪙 it is the way it is and the power you have is to decide which side of the coin to look at .
People often want reassurance that they are on the right path in their lives, but the real reassurance only comes from within- knowing that You are stronger than you think that you will adapt and you will grow because the right thing to do is always the hard thing, it might not seems to be that way, but if the universe trust you, who are you to doubt that. ;)
