The Power of Now has changed my life. I knew about this book back in 2011 but thought it was mumbo jumbo so I pick it up again during the pandemic and really applied his advice. The last three years has been a transformative experience. 👍
I so agree I used to tease my husband because he was fascinated with the sky and I thought he was mumbo-jumbo. Other people said it better. Now I’m just blown away by him. I think I needed to be ready. I can’t get enough of him.
He calms me the minute I start to hear his voice, and although I don’t always start out expecting to listen to an entire talk, I usually do. And many times in the middle of his words, I find myself with a very sincere ear to ear grin on my face and I think that is the love I feel for him and his words, his spirit.💕💕💕

It was a terrific experience. Before he was a famous international author, he came to Calgary Alberta, Canada. We were a very small group of people interested in learning meditation. In the end, we had the honor to hug him, and for me, it was ecstatic. His peaceful nature, acceptance of my essence, and his humble way of interacting with everybody there enabled me to experience firsthand that unconditional love for the first time. He didn't know us ( only the house hostess where the meditation took place), i was mesmerized. I always want to go to that place in my body and my emotional memory every morning before i start my day. Back then, like these days, his laugh is the most childlike and inviting to relax and be present with him here, and now.

I know i dont do it enough,but what i did learn fron "NOW",is the state of the still mind.I can actually turn it on and off like a switch.i just usually choose to keep my mind stimulated because i am not able to be to physically active at this time.but i do meditate and when i walk about or just sit within the outdoors,i love to listen to the birds and bees and talk to them and the trees and just be one within that quiet state of mind.i speak telepathically to the animals some and insects and trees and even rocks.or even just one within and enjoy the beauty around me.God Bless u dear Eckhart,for all your wisdom and your ability to share it with us.ty much sweet soul. The real message of a Master is the Silence in the gaps between words. The Real meeting with Eckhart is just total silence. He has to speak so as to stop your thinking mind as u listen. I remember my view of life was more like mere existance. All my concerns were outside myself. My focus was backwards. I recall the emptiness I felt having no idea what the point of living was. I was a slave to my mind and in turn emotional reactions to everything I encountered. There was no time to think. It truly was a horrible trap feeling alone in a world of confusion. I'm 70 and this is the first time I reflected on that part of my life. That ended over 36 years ago. Thank God!

i listen to a lot of elders , spiritual wisdom keepers, but Eckhart just is so singular. He completely escapes the baggage of the Guru. He is unassuming yet so profound and currently helps to free me from suffering more than most spiritual thinkers. And he is so kind and down to earth funny.
Heres how I finally understood this. I take in unwanted guinea pigs. They are actually quite smart, social, affectionate and communicative if they see that you see them as a person. I extended them personhood, so I extended to myself piggyhood. I used to lie at night having trouble sleeping, thinking that "out there" were many others, unwanted or neglected, kept in those awful little carriers that are like living in a closet. The grief from this was real and it prevented my sleep. I finally realized this thought helps none of them. They arent even aware of it. But it makes one piggy miserable. Me. So of what use is the thought? It only causes suffering. By paying attention to this thought I was causing suffering to a piggy, me. The opposite of my intention. Its not about if its true or not. It is. But what does paying attention do for that situation if you are trying to sleep. Rest, then act. And in that way I learned about how to manage thoughts. Basically, by paying attention to the useful ones and ignoring the others. Whatever you give attention grows. And attention is a function of your volition. You choose. Choose wisely.
Sounds similar to what is called quantum fields. Mind/Matter. Our thoughts create our experiences.(manifestation). Once you let go of all labels of who you believe you are, you start to transcend closer to enlightenment. Once you are, your ego surfaces and you feel completely blissful. Then you realize you’ve just gained a new label and you don’t want it. So you shed the enlightenment label and transcend further to a deeper awakening. It brings you back to the person you were meant to be. It’s a beautiful experience.
@@khowlett0577 The first and most important thing we can do to stop identifying with the labels is to see the labels as thoughts and acknowledge them. As I became more aware of my thoughts, I was able to stop believing them and then the magic started to happen. My awareness and spiritual awakening began to bloom, so to speak. It was slow at first and never lasted very long because I couldn't stop thinking for very long. My obsession with my life circumstances and the lives of others was very strong. But over time and with lots of practice, I have gotten better and better at "not thinking", and just being with whatever is, without judging it as good or bad, right or wrong! Radical Acceptance of what is simply means that everything is just as it should be and my opinion of it is irrelevant. If there is something I need to do to protect myself, or something I can do to change my circumstance, I'll do that. Otherwise, I live and let live! I don't need to label myself or anyone else or even the circumstances. Hope this helps.😊 Peace always!💞🙏🏼

My former gf was is exactly trapped in the i on the surface and she literally told me that iam a wonderful person but sth is missing which she doesn't know herself when i asked her. She was/ is exactly as he described it. Whenever i would say sth that didn't match her conditioned mindset and from which she builds her egoic consciousness she used to get defensive. She also was a bit insecure which lead her to never complain about sth and having an issue with setting boundaries. For months there were just peace and when there was an argument no rs growth. I tried to work with her on it and i know from past rs that i am a decent partner that builds healthy boundaries where both strive and can be free in a rs. Thank you Eckhart for-the wise words.

I realized that every time I'm going through toughest financial times I start searching for wisdom to navigate those pressure I always remember once being helped after reading about the POWER OF NOW by Eckart Tolle, I promise you he is making those repeated jokes on purpose because of the effect it has in terms of making people recall how they felt listening to him.
I bought "A New Earth" yesterday, I read it a decade ago and if it wasn't for the book revolutionizing the way I see life, I wouldnt have made choices that turn my life to a blissful one. I intend to keep the new copy for a lifetime. To revisit it when I need a reminder. JP should've stopped at I dont know enough about him.
Dear Gurudev, I discovered you a couple of years ago and your videos and books have transformed my life. I am 52, but from now on, I have promised myself to be conscious and aware. I am following your teachings on surrender and presence. I have been able to get over my depression, develop new confidence, remove anxiety and work towards personal goals. I am learning to practice surrender and non-resistance to the 'what-is'. I am also learning to get rid layers of Ego that results in only suffering, and dissolve the 'pain-body' ( from past, recent, big or small events or real or perceived slights!) that you describe in your books. I think of self examination as a way of civilizing the space in and around me. Before I examine myself, with the help of others, I only occupy "object consciousness." I am only aware of what I am experiencing and thinking. But, once I have earned some perspective on myself, then I occupy, not only my old place, but also a greater area from which I watch and observe myself.

I had a revelation about space, and how important it is in music! The space between the notes, the silent moments are what Make the music! If it weren't for the space, the pauses, it would just be noise! Especially classical music! I just wanted to share that! ❤

The real message of a Master is the Silence in the gaps between words. The Real meeting with Eckhart is just total silence. He has to speak so as to stop your thinking mind as u listen. These r brief moments of silent transmissions, encountering our awaken consciousness.

I remember my view of life was more like mere existance. All my concerns were outside myself. My focus was backwards. I recall the emptiness I felt having no idea what the point of living was. I was a slave to my mind and in turn emotional reactions to everything I encountered. There was no time to think. It truly was a horrible trap feeling alone in a world of confusion.
I'm 70 and this is the first time I reflected on that part of my life.
That ended over 36 years ago. Thank God!

i listen to a lot of elders , spiritual wisdom keepers, but Eckhart just is so singular. He completely escapes the baggage of the Guru. He is unassuming yet so profound and currently helps to free me from suffering more than most spiritual thinkers. And he is so kind and down to earth funny.

Heres how I finally understood this. I take in unwanted guinea pigs. They are actually quite smart, social, affectionate and communicative if they see that you see them as a person. I extended them personhood, so I extended to myself piggyhood.
I used to lie at night having trouble sleeping, thinking that "out there" were many others, unwanted or neglected, kept in those awful little carriers that are like living in a closet. The grief from this was real and it prevented my sleep. I finally realized this thought helps none of them. They arent even aware of it. But it makes one piggy miserable. Me. So of what use is the thought? It only causes suffering. By paying attention to this thought I was causing suffering to a piggy, me. The opposite of my intention. Its not about if its true or not. It is. But what does paying attention do for that situation if you are trying to sleep. Rest, then act. And in that way I learned about how to manage thoughts. Basically, by paying attention to the useful ones and ignoring the others. Whatever you give attention grows. And attention is a function of your volition. You choose. Choose wisely.

Sounds similar to what is called quantum fields. Mind/Matter. Our thoughts create our experiences.(manifestation). Once you let go of all labels of who you believe you are, you start to transcend closer to enlightenment. Once you are, your ego surfaces and you feel completely blissful. Then you realize you’ve just gained a new label and you don’t want it. So you shed the enlightenment label and transcend further to a deeper awakening. It brings you back to the person you were meant to be. It’s a beautiful experience.

The first and most important thing we can do to stop identifying with the labels is to see the labels as thoughts and acknowledge them. As I became more aware of my thoughts, I was able to stop believing them and then the magic started to happen. My awareness and spiritual awakening began to bloom, so to speak. It was slow at first and never lasted very long because I couldn't stop thinking for very long. My obsession with my life circumstances and the lives of others was very strong.
But over time and with lots of practice, I have gotten better and better at "not thinking", and just being with whatever is, without judging it as good or bad, right or wrong! Radical Acceptance of what is simply means that everything is just as it should be and my opinion of it is irrelevant. If there is something I need to do to protect myself, or something I can do to change my circumstance, I'll do that. Otherwise, I live and let live! I don't need to label myself or anyone else or even the circumstances.

My former gf was is exactly trapped in the i on the surface and she literally told me that iam a wonderful person but sth is missing which she doesn't know herself when i asked her. She was/ is exactly as he described it. Whenever i would say sth that didn't match her conditioned mindset and from which she builds her egoic consciousness she used to get defensive. She also was a bit insecure which lead her to never complain about sth and having an issue with setting boundaries. For months there were just peace and when there was an argument no rs growth. I tried to work with her on it and i know from past rs that i am a decent partner that builds healthy boundaries where both strive and can be free in a rs. Thank you Eckhart for-the wise words.

Dear Gurudev, I discovered you a couple of years ago and your videos and books have transformed my life. I am 52, but from now on, I have promised myself to be conscious and aware. I am following your teachings on surrender and presence. I have been able to get over my depression, develop new confidence, remove anxiety and work towards personal goals. I am learning to practice surrender and non-resistance to the 'what-is'. I am also learning to get rid layers of Ego that results in only suffering, and dissolve the 'pain-body' ( from past, recent, big or small events or real or perceived slights!) that you describe in your books. I think of self examination as a way of civilizing the space in and around me. Before I examine myself, with the help of others, I only occupy "object consciousness." I am only aware of what I am experiencing and thinking. But, once I have earned some perspective on myself, then I occupy, not only my old place, but also a greater area from which I watch and observe myself.
