Lyrics:
[Intro]
Feel the funk blast
Feel the funk blast
Feel the funk blast
Feel the funk blast
Feel the funk blast
Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, check it out, yo, yo, yo
[Verse 1]
I be walkin' God like a dog, my narrative, fearless
My word war returns to burn like Baldwin home from Paris
Like Steel from a furnace, I was born landless
This is the native son, born of Zapata's guns
Stroll through the shanties and the cities' remains
Same bodies buried hungry but with different last names
These vultures rob everything, leave nothing but chains
Pick a point on the globe, yes, the picture's the same
There's a bank, there's a church, a myth and a hearse
A mall and a loan, a child dead at birth
There's a widow pig parrot, a rebel to tame
A white-hooded judge, a syringe and a vein
And the riot be the rhyme of the unheard
[Pre-Chorus]
What you say, what you say, what you say, what?
What you say, what you say, what you say, what?
What you say, what you say, what you say, what?
What you say, what you say, what you say, what?
[Chorus]
I'm calm like a bomb
(Ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite)
I'm calm like a bomb
(Ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite)
[Verse 2]
This ain't subliminal, feel the critical mass approach horizon
The pulse of the condemned, sound off America's demise
The anti-myth rhythm rock shocker, yes, I spit fire
Hope lies in the smoldering rubble of empires
Yes, back through the shanties and the cities' remains
Same bodies buried hungry (Uh-huh), but with different last names (Uh-huh)
Them vultures robbin' everyone, leave nothing but chains
Pick a point here at home, yes, the picture's the same
There's a field full of slaves, some corn and some debt
There's a ditch full of bodies, the check for the rent
There's a tap, the phone, the silence of stone
The numb black screen that be feelin' like home
And the riot be the rhyme of the unheard
[Pre-Chorus]
What you say, what you say, what you say, what?
What you say, what you say, what you say, what?
What you say, what you say, what you say, what?
What you say, what you say, what you say, what?
[Chorus]
I'm calm like a bomb
(Ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite)
I'm calm like a bomb
(Ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite)
I'm calm like a bomb
(Ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite)
I'm calm like a bomb
(Ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite)
[Guitar solo]
[Chorus]
I'm calm like a bomb
(Ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite)
I'm calm like a bomb
(Ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite)
I'm calm like a bomb
(Ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite)
I'm calm like a bomb
(Ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite, ignite)
[Outro]
There's a mass without roofs, there's a prison to fill
There's a country's soul that reads post no bills
There's a strike and a line of cops outside of the mill
There's a right to obey and there's a right to kill
There's a mass without roofs, there's a prison to fill
There's a country's soul that reads post no bills
There's a strike and a line of cops outside of the mill
'Cause there's a right to obey and there's the right to kill

"Hope lies in the smoldering rubble of empires."
Wow... powerful stuff.
I’m 14 and this is deep
@@Wubzy66 it was deep when I was 14 too...wait til you're 30. Rage is one of the most thought-provoking bands, not just since then, but likely ever.
"There's a mass without roofs;
there's a prison to fill.
There's a country's soul that reads,
"post no bills".
There's a strike, and a line of cops,
outside of the Mill.
There's a right to obey,
And a right to kill."
RATM are paraphrasing Mumia Abu Jamal: "Conventional wisdom would have one believe that it is insane to resist this, the mightiest of empires. But what history really shows is that today's empire is tomorrow's ashes, that nothing lasts forever, and that to not resist is to acquiesce in your own oppression. The greatest form of sanity that anyone can exercise is to resist that force that is trying to repress, oppress, and fight down the human spirit."
Nah that power only lasts until the dictator emerges. I love the music but the political discourse is Nihilistic
@@Wubzy66 no one cares how old u are
This is one of their best songs. That killer bass intro and then the guitar solo sounds like an UFO is landing over your rooftop
Underrated com
THIS. i've been trying to describe that solo so many times and failed, until i read this comment
Are those the requirements for a good song these days? An "ok" bass intro and an experimental guitar solo? I'd much rather applaud the rest of the recording.
This, Vietnow, and Ghost of Tom Joad!
ya that solo blows it over the top imho #1 for me
My dad was a maintenance man for these apartments back in 2005. He found this CD in one of the houses he had to clean out and gave it to me. I was 10 years old. Now im 26,,, Thankfull he gave it to me. Love you dad
“This is the native son, born of Zapata’s guns.”🤝
Wow. Incredible. Bad ass stuff right there.
Wow awesomeness
@Jonah, why you got to make me feel super old? 😂
Also be thankful to whoever left it behind to spread the word!
we need this energy in these times
We can bring it back yall
Big facts. I never listened to them but oh man can I relate to the energy when I started listening recently this week
@DroAndro-ks1jm i been feeling this music for 20 yrs it never gets old buddy
The matrix Reloaded 🎵👽
This is probably one of my favorite songs on the whole album.
Matrix album?
This and first full of steel bc they truly are feminists at heart.
The album to be honest isn't that good, seems cobbled together, and the singles struck me as formulaic. This, however, is probably their best song. Mic Check is also really good.
The best rage song IMO
@@justinholland9844 You must be kidding? I don't like any metal bands or any other rap or hip hop bands but this is awesome. Nothing comes close to what these guys do, again and again. I made a compilation from the 3 albums I have, as much as I could fit on a CD. It's also now a playlist on my TH-cam channel. The first 7 tunes are from The Battle Of L.A.
1 - Testify
2 - Guerilla Radio
3 - Calm Like A Bomb
4 - Sleep Now In The Fire
5 - Born Of A Broken Man
6 - New Millennium Homes
7 - No Shelter
8 - Bombtrack
9 - Pistol Grip Pump
10 - Take The Power Back
11 - Renegades Of Funk
12 - Bullet In The Head
13 - I'm Housin'
14 - Know Your Enemy
15 - How I Could Just Kill A Man
16 - The Ghost Of Tom Joad
17 - Maggie's Farm
One of the best band...
Insane bass...
Freaking INSANE lead...
Tim is prolly my fave although it's hard to choose a fave RATM.

He certainly expanded how the guitar can be used.
It's the best mashup of a DJ and a guitar!

He was majorly influenced by Vernon Reid from Living Colour.

Tim is freaking great and needs more attention.

Fucking for real!
Rick Beato did a “10 best bass intros” and this wasn’t included. I complained.
I love that this band is not just for entertainment like others, but that they bring inspiration to change things for the better.
My sister introduced me to this band when I was in Middle School back in 2000 and I've been liking them ever since
Hope you thanked your sister
I feel like there has never been a time in history where their music has been more relevant than now. Change my mind.
The rage against the machine is timeless.
this music has always been relevant, its just easier to see with the internet
I can't because I agree.these guys were so ahead of their time. They were woke back then when everybody else was asleep

Guts!
All the 2000’s energy! I listened to RATM tons back them, especially after seeing all the Matrix movies.
Not everyone’s cup of tea, but RATM was one hell of a band. Always fired on all cylinders.
i just don't understand whats to dislike unless you are a bigot.
@@ctrlaltdel64 maybe the music bro it is quite heavy rock
Rage has been everyone's cup of tea until the woke nationalist discovered they were a left band. fake outrage from the aIt right cogs
I wish my cup of tea hit this hard 😂
If you let anyone read their lyrics without the music, especially to non RATM fans and to non rock fans, their reactions range from 'Holy shit this is relevant as hell' to 'Hit me like a bomb', with 'Whoever wrote this is here to stay for a very long time as long as human corruption exist.' It's genuine, true and beautiful.
I'm here because today the message of this song is more important than ever
It hasn’t gotten any better either.
this production slaps so hard
This is the song that got me into RATM. Unashamed.
One of their best songs
I'm here because I heard matrix resurrection was just announced. Had to listen to this banger again for the hype. I remember hearing this in theatres at the end of reloaded. Fucking legendary
