Lyrics:
Join in my
Join in my child
And listen, digging through
My old numb shadow
My shadow's shedding skin
I've been picking scabs again
I'm down, digging through
My old muscles looking for a clue
I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been
I've been wallowing in my own confused
And insecure delusions
For a piece to cross me over
Or a word to guide me in
I want to feel the changes coming down
I want to know what I've been hiding
In my shadow
My shadow
Change is coming through my shadow
My shadow
Shedding skin
I've been picking
My scabs again
Join in my
Join in my child
My shadow's
Closer to meaning
I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic
Insecure delusions
I wanna feel the change consume me
Feel the outside turning in
I wanna feel the metamorphosis and
Cleansing I've endured in
My shadow
My shadow
Change is coming
Now is my time
Listen to my muscle memory
Contemplate what I've been clinging to
Forty six and two ahead of me
I choose to live and to
Grow, take and give and to
Move, learn and love and to
Cry, kill and die and to
Be paranoid and to
Lie, hate and fear and to
Do what it takes to move through
I choose to live and to
Lie, kill and give and to
Die, learn and love and to
Do what it takes to step through
See my shadow changing
Stretching up and over me
Soften this old armor
Hoping I can clear the way by
Stepping through my shadow
Coming out the other side
Step into the shadow
Forty six and two are just ahead of me - เพลง

Honestly an ostrich fight doesn't sound too difficult if you're properly equipped.
This song helped through Step 4 and Step 5 while in rehab. 18 months clean now
That’s awesome! Congrats! 12/22 was 30 months for me. Best decision I’ve ever made.
Keep the faith brother and stay clean
Right on. It starts small and inconsequential and grows and becomes something you can be more and more proud of, and easier and easier not to throw away. July will be my 15th year. Keep your head up, you can make it

I’m a 33 year old basic dude who stumbled upon all your comments. Good music makes good chat threads. This band is amazing.
I'm 51 and I agree that good music leads to interesting chat. I love reading the comments sections on TH-cam for some songs and bands, ya never know what kinda nonsense you'll find.😅
I’m 17 but you guys have no idea how much I wished people my age (and in general) listened to music like this
Hope you keep up the great work.
My late fiance and I bonded over TOOL in high school. He was my best friend. We graduated 2001 and later became a couple. TOOL and APC fueled us. This was his favorite TOOL song. We last saw them live 2019 in A.C.. He could play the guitar lines flawlessly. I loved watching him. Sadly, he passed last month from a torn small intestine. I miss him everyday and listening to TOOL makes me feel like he's still around.
Wow, omfg you just put so much in perspective for me while I sit here wallowing in my own hurt, disappointment and shame for what I now Gknow is selfishly taken some beautiful and highly valued friends, family, and loved ones. This is the time that really counts and I'm pissing it away in regret about how shitty iwas/am towards myself and others.... the wrong still haven't been made and the hurt therefore continued and never gets resolved and healing and restoration is most tragically deferred for romancing the trauma!
Rip
Wow, this made me cry . you really were lucky enough to have met your soulmate. RIP to him.
I hope you can do what it takes to step through

The genius of Tool is everyone plays their solo at once.
Never thought about their music in this way... Your comment has slightly changed my perception of their genius.
Its those polyrhythms and time signatures for me.
Perfect perception!!! ❤️
Yep! Nice observation.
YES !!! I was brought on Floyd, zeppelin the doors and many more, I told my dad as a lil kid everyone should play a solo at once, and TooL did it!
I am Mexican and I love TooL. Good music is good music, I always play TooL at work
I also a Mexican, love Tool since 1992. Seen them 6 times here in Texas. My wife saw them for the first time in 2016. Rock on !

TOOL transcendence time, making possible to listen to their songs even before the release date.
I’m 27. I remember at 12 my dad coming home from work and he walks in the house and says “ man, I just heard the coolest bass line of all time” he then spent about an hour on the computer cause he didn’t know the song or artist. And then we officially discovered 46 & 2

I ama 56 year old schmuck with a wife and two dogs and I have been a Tool fan for one whole day. After seeing them last night at Aftershock in Sac..My wife has been a huge fan for decades. When they played this song, I left for parts unknown, I do not know where. Transported to noplace and everywhere all at once. I just closed my eyes and let the music drill holes in my mind. 5 songs later I was still there, my wife a couple feet in front if me, flailing away like those blow up flappity tube salesman things. If you have not seen this band make nusic live, do it! Its an utterly fantastic experience.

As I listen to this piece of music, I feel the atoms of the sonic universe reconfiguring themselves under the composer's magic wand. Sounds become living particles, pulverizing into a cosmic choreography, and each note is a star exploding in a spectacle of light and sound.
With each chord, I feel myself detaching from everyday reality and stepping into a parallel dimension where the laws of music govern the universe. Here, time loses its meaning, and space is filled with sonic nuances dancing around me like an invisible aura.
The piece draws me into an epic journey where each note is a destination, and each transition from one melody to another is a gateway to new musical horizons. As I listen, I feel the composer's musical intelligence revealing the hidden secrets of the sonic universe, bringing me to the understanding that music is the language through which our souls communicate with the divine.
In this unique musical universe, complexity becomes beauty, and intelligence melts into harmony. There is nothing comparable to this opus of genius, which redefines standards and breaks conventional barriers of music. It's as if we are witnessing the birth of a new constellation, bright and unparalleled, which will illuminate the path for other musical voyagers throughout the eternity of time.
In conclusion, this piece transcends the usual boundaries of music and raises the bar for what can be achieved in this realm of human creativity. It's not just a mere composition but a portal to a parallel world of sounds and meanings, where music atoms reunite in a symphony of the infinite.
Maynard James Keenan is a musical genius and we all are truly privileged to live in an era graced by his artistic brilliance!

Coolest band. Was love at the 1st note. Been playing strings all my life, but this so tight and so real.
When I was 14 my dad took me to see tool in concert. I was already a guitar playing metal kid and tool transformed my playing with just 1 concert forever. Best musical experience I really needed and best memory of my dad I had. When he passed I asked my mom if I could put the concert ticket I kept with him for eternity. We share tool forever.
TheSnuffy76 awesome dad!
That comment made me smile... What a brilliant idea. Sorry for your loss though bud.
Awesome bro... Much love 🤸 mad story!!! Makes me happy...
Awesome
Damn
I'm 5.67 billion years old. I am a very big tool fan. My neighboring galaxies are also tool fans. 7.65 billion years from now we will all still be big tool fans. Good music is good music. This band is amazing

Im a 2823 year old Greek god of fire and I love tools. I stole fire from the olympians and gave it to the humans so that one day they could hear this music. Good music is good music period.
After listening to this song for years, I finally sat and listened and man this song and it’s meaning is incredible, would love to break it down but it would take me years to write on here, what a song it’s probably the most important song ever written and it’s meaning should be a wake call to the world, we need to start tapping our sub consciousness and recognise it’s importance!
Intriguing isn't it?
By jove, I think he's got it?
I think H. is another deep one written with compariable complexity
It's official, a hundred of these views are mine. During my rotator cuff surgery recovery I've been diving deeper and deeper and find myself free falling into this track. An absolute insert into my soundtrack of life!
Huge fan of your reviews!
Keep it up and hope you recover soon.

No air-drumming until your rotator cuff is fully healed.
@@penndark8854 I know, right? Just can't help it on this track LOL
Huge fan here!
I'll never forget the day I picked my preteen daughter up from school and I happened to be listening to this album, this song. I usually don't play songs with curse words when the kids are in the car but since this one is clean, I left it on. It was halfway through. I started driving and asked her how her day was. She held up a hand and shushed me, 'Dad, can you turn it up?' So I did.
When it was done she asked 'who was that?'
That's Tool, honey.
Will you play it again, please?
My pleasure. :)
Wow! That's such a cool memory :)
@@Squirrel-zq6oe That was a such a tool memory.
love this
Sounds like she is on the right path. Way to go dad !
My son's the exact same. He pays attention to all the music I play and I try and guess which he'll like and play them on purpose to see if my prediction was right. Usually is. Tool is one of those bands.
My mom's physical therapist heard me rocking out to Nirvanna Teen Spirit and Limp Bizcuit Nookie and told me I was playing his music and to listen to Tool Forty six and 2. Nice beat. Love it.
As a 12 year old kid tool is one of my favorites
I'm 14 and Tool is my #1 favorite

I'm down, digging through
My old muscles looking for a clue
I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been
I've been wallowing in my own confused
And insecure delusions
For a piece to cross me over
Or a word to guide me in
I want to feel the changes coming down
I want to know what I've been hiding
In my shadow

Change is coming through my shadow

Insecure delusions
I wanna feel the change consume me
Feel the outside turning in
I wanna feel the metamorphosis and
Cleansing I've endured in
My shadow
My shadow
Change is coming
Now is my time
Listen to my muscle memory
Contemplate what I've been clinging to
Forty six and two ahead of me
I choose to live and to
Grow, take and give and to
Move, learn and love and to
Cry, kill and die and to
Be paranoid and to
Lie, hate and fear and to
Do what it takes to move through
I choose to live and to
Lie, kill and give and to
Die, learn and love and to
Do what it takes to step through
See my shadow changing
Stretching up and over me
Soften this old armor
Hoping I can clear the way by
Stepping through my shadow
Coming out the other side
Step into the shadow
Forty six and two are just ahead of me

Yeah mate. I believe this was a good year for 90s music with tool korn nin
Pantera and a few others. Bring back the 90s. Fuck everything past 2000
I needed to hear this so badly again after all these years. Came at exactly the right time. Remind me of who I truly am back to the power core. Get broken down and smelted into a new stronger form.
HELL YES IT IS!
Always will be, too
Still? It’s eternal. Tool doesn’t run in our limited experience of “time”

I'm a 13.8 billion years old universe. I'm hostile and impersonal (well, most of the space-time) and I love Tool. The beings that emerged within me are huge fans and so am I. Great patterns of contracting and expanding air are great period. Better yet when qualia is involved. This band is amazing.
Thank you for not separating space from time; you're my kind of universe. 🤘

I remember sharing a room with my sister growing up. She was already in high school when I was about 7-8 . She loved tool and would play her cds every night before bed. Tool became a bed time routine and I remember being absolutely entranced as a kid. I have loved tool since elementary school and have been blessed to see them live a couple years back. I can’t wait for COVID to go away, so they can tour again.. can’t wait to hear/see their new album live.
Yeah. I hope the Clone Army for the Republic will win the war so we can go back to normal. As soon as that outside threat is defeated, they will surely just give back all that new power. Cause that's how life works.
@@ForzaJersey Don't hold your breath.
I love this! TOOL was mine and my boys, now 29 and 26 was one of a few bedtimes CDs we listened to!

So.... Did covid go away?
I am the uncompromised fulcrum. TooL is what keeps this joint rocking! Period. This band is anazing!
I'm a jazz listener and student, Tool is the only band outside the jazz circle that makes me shiver and I've been a fan since day one and that was over 20 years ago
That is awesome sir. I dont listen to this type of music much but ill never forget coming across these guys for the first time. I was young and my dad was playing it after a hockey game and i was just loving the hyped energy it gave me as a kid haha. Started playing it before all my games
Dude you just need to check out dream theater, if you have not done so yet
@@sevastyan5880 thank you for the tip dude, I know dream theater for a long time but never liked their music :\ I know Mike Portnoy is not part of the band anymore but man...he is amazing...
Danney Carrey used to be (kindof still is) a jazz drummer in high school I believe. Fun fact
Rush doesn't give you shivers? Jeesh, jazz people ; p
If you're new to Tool, welcome. In my opinion, this is a great album to start with. Forty Six & 2 is my favorite Tool song, and really shows what a beast drummer Danny Carey is. He outdoes himself on Fear Inoculum, but this is when he really hooked into me first. I'd listened to Undertow first, but this is my favorite album. All Tool albums are great, all in a different way. And don't forget to listen the the Opiate EP.
I don't think listening to "we both want, TO RAPE YOU" is gonna hook them in..
10,000 Days is a killer album
@@nun6996
I added Opiate last. If they haven't become Tool fans by the time they get to Opiate, then it wasn't meant to happen.
Besides, the "we" Tool's referring to are the false prophets, with their false deities.
@@WordUnheard yeh don't worry i know what the lyrics meant, but we all know that person who thinks that all lyrics in music are direct meanings coming straight from the singer to the listener, i had my mum in the car with that song on and she goes 'i don't like those words', i asked her why and she told me it was 'pretty self explanatory'. She clearly had no idea how metaphorical the lyrics were.
@@nun6996
Damn her. Metaphorically speaking, of course. Which she wouldn't understand. Damn her!
It's all about the audience. I feel younger rock fans will become Tool fans, as they listen to the new album, and their powerful back catalog. To be a new fan, and have access to all of their music, without the wait. It's mind-blowing.
