I think this is the first video of yours I've watched, and I really enjoyed it. Very nice tour of a lovely boat. Well done, and I love the casual vibe of the video. Keep up the good work!!
One suggestion, please show more of the things Ally is talking about, I often wanted to see the thing she mentioned but the camera was on her and not on the feature. Or, when the feature was shown it was off to the side and difficult to see. Thanks for the video!
Great video! It brought back memories of my family's Silverton 392 that we had in the early 2000s. One of the best memories was a family trip where we left a harbor near Chicago crossed Lake Michigan into Lake Huron, then through the Soo Locks in St Marie, MI into Lake Superior, and ending up in the Apostle Islands near Bayfield, WI. Thanks for bringing back such great memory of the Silverton.
We love this one! By far our favorite. We have learned so much about the Yacht life watching your channel. You point out so many good points. Thanks for the tour. Paul & Magen
Little fact. The halon system is nice. Must remember that although halon itself is not poisonous, the chemicals left over after it’s extinguished a fire are. So if you do go down after you’ve put out a fire have oxygen with you. (It’s not really poison as much as carbon monoxide I think). Also that’s halon 502 I think. Newer generations of halon may have fixed that issue. Great video!
In your opinions which boat you looked at is the best for build quality and reliability? This is with any maintenance being done regularly. Silverton seems to be a more value driven boat. How is its build quality?
We are interested in buying a 40' power boat for outings in outings in Puget Sound. 40' seems like a good size to take my wife, me and one of one of our married adult kids on a several day get away several times per year. With your experience, it would be interesting to get your feedback on: Can you buy a reliable boat for $100,000 or less? What are essential things that a boat should have when we purchase or upgrade it? What is a good way to buy a boat like this? How do you go from no boat skills to enough skills to feel comfortable taking the boat out for your first excursion?
Hi Leo. Great questions! Can you learn on a 40'? Well we met a guy this weekend who bought a 4087 as his first, but he also drove a caterpillar for a living. We do recommend taking a power squadron course. Yes, you can find a 40' under $100k, but it might need work. Diesel engines last up to 5000 hours or way more, compared to gas, which only last about 700 hours. So when you look at an older boat, definitely get diesels. We had our broker spend a little time, but not enough. Check out our first video and blog post about it. Good luck!
washer and dryer LOL why bother moving onto a boat, I had been the the panama canal a dozen times before I turned 20, sailed to Easter Island and Argentina when I was 22, lived and cruised aboard a boat for over 20 years and I never had a washer and dryer. These people aren't boaters and they aren't looking for a boat they are landlubber meaning looking for a floating RV. this boat is nothing more than a floating RV and built about as well, it's not a real boat as it couldn't handle anything other than fair weather, the single helm tells you that. No lower helm station means that you are stuck on a fly bridge regardless of the weather and that sucks big time, when the weather turns the last place you want to be is on the fly bridge as every movement of the boat is amplified exponentially meaning you're going to be getting tossed around like a rag doll up there. when I look at a boat, I can care less about something like a washer and dryer I want to make sure that the boat will keep me alive if the weather turns bad.
Every boat is different. You do have to pay moorage, mortgage, insurance, maintenance, repairs, fuel, etc. Depending on the size of your vessel and the particular marina, your costs will vary.
Odd layout, one thing about doing a tour, it's a given that these boats have tons of storage, but we don't really need to see every bit of it,we know it's there, just a hint, stay healthy.
Why not buy a REAL housebot= 60 feet by 14 feet or longer? You can buy a bowrider for fishing/fun... You can get the hull for these large HB's fixed for saltwater..cheaply
The houseboats here are on Lake Union and Portage Bay. They are very regulated and it is difficult to find moorage for them. We have MANY permanent houseboats, but they are very expensive too. We like to travel up to Canada and a bowrider won't get us there. Thanks for your feedback!
@@BoatingJourney yea... I didn’t include that the content is great. I follow many boating lifestyle youtube channels. Your journey for finding your next live aboard is great. Hope you didn’t find my comment harsh... it was meant to be helpful.
I have seen several of your videos, this was not your best work. It's nice to hear you narrate and describe the vessel, but please keep in mind that your intent is to show a boat, not the narrator. Great video....my wife and i just bought a 1998 502/46 MY Silverton...brought it around from Detroit to Grand Haven Mi on Lake Mi. Love the boat!!!!
Thank You!! That is awesome! Probably exactly what we're looking for. Thanks for following us!
Fantastic job of showing a boat love the way you two took the extra time to open draws and and engine access and stepping into the showers.
Thank you so much!!

Awesome! We will. Thanks for the tip Paul!
I never purchased any more boat than I'm willing to keep clean LOL
What’s a good affordable starter boat? 61 years young. Wife and I have never owned before. Either San Diego or Maine ports. Thank you
When is the Seattle boat show each year? Thanks Alex
Normally the last weekend in January for 9 days
My partner and I owned the same yacht, in Petaluma,ca
It was a fantastic yacht!
look at Silverton 442 Cockpit Motor Yachts. I don't know how long they made them, but I liked those the most out of the Silverton Motor Yachts.

How many times did she yell : "WOW" ?
In your opinions which boat you looked at is the best for build quality and reliability? This is with any maintenance being done regularly. Silverton seems to be a more value driven boat. How is its build quality?
Hi Ed, we're still figuring that out. But by far our favorite has been the Navigator, even for the price.
The biggest challenge with this boat is the wheels are exposed, no keel to protect them
This boat with no thrusters and being high will sale in any wind over 6knots and be handful to dock.
Exactly. One of the reasons it wasn't for us. Thanks for watching!

We owned a Silverton 350, great yacht, we loved ours but on PNW windy days it was like flying a kite. Do you still have your Bayliner?
We sold the Bayliner (it too was like a sailboat on a windy day)....now looking for a liveaboard or project boat. Thanks for watching!
@@BoatingJourney us too, so living through your videos. And, we could be neighbors in the Caribbean 😊
How high are the feelings in these types of boats ? I’m 6’2 Thinkin about getting one for a live aboard
Scott is 6' 1 and he had good clearance!
13:50 (ish) I heard an Uf Da ... I'm grinning

If only it had a spot for a stackable washer / dryer this would be the perfect live aboard.

Well laid out but my god is that aesthetically unpleasing from the outside lol

Stick with the Bayliner .
What are the monthly expenses for living on a boat?
Every boat is different. You do have to pay moorage, mortgage, insurance, maintenance, repairs, fuel, etc. Depending on the size of your vessel and the particular marina, your costs will vary.
What year?
Hi Van. This was a 2000
How is that only 39ft 🎖🎖🎖
It sold last week and it was listed at $139k
Could you show more of the boat and not her w/ your next video.
Yes, Mark we've heard that from this video and our latest videos are much better. Thank you for watching!
The engines were 3116, or 3126, just sayin. Prob around 350hp rated.
Yes, we show the specs at the end and they are 3116. Thanks for watching!
No washer/dryer
True, but they had space for one. Thx for watching!
How much?
$139990
You can easily find a SeaRay 370 aft cabin that is slightly nicer with way more options for under 100K.

Show more of the boat during your videos. You seem to focus in on your wife instead of what she is talking about I.e., the boat.
