    Hello! I really enjoyed your video. My wife and I are on the same journey. We are currently looking for our 'perfect' live-aboard. Currently we own a 41-foot Trawler she is a great summer time boat, as a full-time live aboard however just not enough room. We boat out of Ladysmith BC and like you trying to find a live-aboard slip is proving to be difficult. I guess the big take away from your experience is to find the slip, then the boat? You seemed to be impressed with the Navigator are there other makes you have considered? Thanks for putting this video out there very informative.

      Hi guys! So far our favorite has been the Navigator and specifically the Sundance model. (That's the episode "Is this Navigator our next Liveaboard")....The catch with the slip, is you need a boat to be considered for a liveaboard. Ugh. So the other option is to find a boat that comes with a liveaboard slip. There are some north of Seattle, but the commute for Ally would be too long. So we continue to search. We really liked the Viking too, but it needed too much work! Thanks for following us!

    Trash compactors are a must on a boat IMO. We have a 2004 navigator 61 and it has one and I won't live without it. Family of 4 and we can go a full week without emptying it. We anchor out weeks at a time it is a difference maker.

    You might want to consider moving the camera to the object your wife is referring to when she describes something. The table in the galley is the best example of what I am saying. Love you both! Keep doing these videos.

    I use to always wait to find a slip before I purchased my boats and finaly realized it is much easier to get a slip when you have a boat. Most marinas hold off on locking a boater into a slip until there is actually a boat. Just my experience.

    This comment applies to all your videos.
    What prices are we talking about.
    Maintenance and related insurance, docking costs.
    Does it really matter if you have sleeping for 6 or 8? What is needed is living space. Who needs bunk beds? Are we raising a family.? What is much more useful is an extra room.
    Frankly, whether we are on 30 or 50 ft boat space is premium. In either case you have to go outside to change your mind. I sure hope you have a high tolerance for your other half. Because you are constantly on top of each other.
    Lastly we make way to much on entertaining. Any boat short if 100 ft you are trading 6x8 to 8x10 deck space differences.

    Nice presentation. From what I have read , it is not easy finding a full time , live aboard marina. That is my own challenge. Especially for a larger boat. good luck and keep us posted.

    I love the Navigator boats even though they are a bit out of my price range. One thing I would say is the only way I would ever consider purchasing a vessel that had been sunk in salt water even for a brief time is if I intended to do a major electric system rebuild or I was ok with chasing electrical gremlins forever as even if it was quickly refloated the seawater will sit in unseen and inaccessible connections and greatly accelerate corrosion

    We own at 53 Classic just down the dock from where you saw the Simbaulat. It's a 1997 so it has the same configuration as the first one in Blaine. We have owned the boat 7-1/2 years now and even though we don't live aboard, we absolutely love the boat. If you haven't already, you should get your name on a list at Cap Sante.

    Heads up - Scott I'm loving the chemistry but I'm wondering if you have had an opportunity to reviewed the presentation style of this vlog. On several occasions it is noticeable that the camera/shot is focused on Ally, when she is presenting key features. Can you please consider filming each both twice, once with Ally in shot and again without Ally. Later you can edit the shot to achieve both perspectives 🏅

    Why was the space temporary? Why couldn’t you just pay to stay there?

    • @BoatingJourney
      @BoatingJourney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly! So the slip was rented by the boat dealer. They said they would sell us the boat and we could keep it at Shilshole for only 3 months until we found a spot. With an LOA of almost 60', no marinas around Seattle had space. We couldn't take the chance that they would kick us out and we would have no where to put the boat. So frustrating! So far it was "the boat" ....bummed we missed out on it.
