- #234. REUSABLE Resin?! This STUFF is INCREDIBLE!
In todays Resin Art video we try something commonly known as Resin Clay! It may have been around for a long time but this is my first experience of using this stuff!
It has been around for some time but is becoming a lot more popular recently, a lot of mold makers are also using Resin Clays to create crazy molds!
Whilst it is not as solid as a normal Resin or epoxy, it has some incredible advantages! You can use it again and again! It is non toxic, you can use this as an alternative to Resin if you have allergies.
I'm really looking forward to playing with this stuff more!
Whilst normal Resin/Epoxy PPE is not required, please use safely as hot water is required!

This is amazing. Ive put one in my basket for pay day 😊
Does it allow you to put holographic images in it? ❤❤❤(The clear plastic sticker things)
@ohthereyouarepeter1435 I'm not sure atm, there may be a way without it cancelling out the holographic detail but may need to experiment.
They are currently out and have no restock date. Will they be coming out with more???????
@@ashleyscustomcreations I don't think Daniel would know... That's out of his hands 💁🏻♀️
This looks very much like Friendly Plastic (actual product name). Usually sold in strips, different colours, matt and metallic with a black back, white and pearl have a white backing. The straps can be cut up and to meld colours together or create shapes & 3d pieces, it has to be softened on the back of a craft iron on a small teflon sheet and lifted by wooden utensils, this can be placed onto a rounded surface using greaseproof paper, it doesn't take long to cool. I have several colours and a bag of the white balls, these are clear when melted, unless they come in various colours too. You can add inks and powders and gems onto this material and you can alter a piece, add to it or reshape it. It's good to see more transparent and solid colour pieces.😊
I love your childlike joy when something surprised you!
😂😂 the holographic took me by huge surprise 😂
Totally! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wowzer 😱😱 we can mould it into any shape and create our own moulds; over and over again. Now I want this stuff… you’re killing me 😂😂😂
Yep, need to do some more tests with resin but others have used this to make molds with silicone with huge success 😊
@@daniel..cooper that's what I'm going to try, to make molds
For me the best property of material is you can brush or pour either UV or epoxy resin on it or in it and it won't stick to it after it cures. Which is great for 3D/free form resin. There is a resin artist, Nelco neco, on YT, who makes an 3D apple ring case using this as base mould with UV resin brushed on over it. Thank you, Daniel for making a video about this clay.
Awesome stuff! I will check the channel out, thanks Bob 😊
Her channel is beyond beautiful. Her crafts are works of art and the videos themselves are beautiful.
That sounds like a great idea.
Mind blown!!!
Whitemorph or Polymorph has been used in sfx for many years.
I also use it to create commonly used objects such as hooks or broken handles.
Tus experimentos son geniales.
Another interesting bit of info for anyone who cares. The white "thermo plastic", (not sure if it is all biodegradable, that's the first I've heard that term associated with it) has been popular with cos-players for a while. It comes in pellets and sheets which makes for interesting creative possibilities. Aaaand, the first I ever heard of the pellets was when a friend of mine, after seeing an online recommendation without dental insurance or a lot of money used it to bridge the gap where a couple teeth were missing. I'm totally not joking. So it is hard and non-toxic. This is not medical advice lol.
This is a really good alternative for me. My husband has COPD. I don’t do any resin in the house just to be sure I don’t cause him problems. That means I’m limited to using resin in the warm months in our garage. This I could use any time without fear of hurting him in any way.
Glad it helped 😊 Definitely an option 🥰
YYYEESSSSS!!!! I’ve been saying that we needed this for YEARS!!!! Ohhh the waste we won’t have anymore!!!
😁😁😁
😮😮😮😮😮 OMG THAT IS AMAZING
Thanks Tammy 😊
I've used stuff similar to whitemorph for stonesetting when making jewellery from more traditional materials, and it'd brilliant for that purpose. I also once tried modifying a silicone mold with it for a temporary purpose, but I can tell you it will not mesh well with uv resin - which I should have figured out without trying. Uv resin gets hot enough to melt the stuff.
The coloured plastic seems to behave a lot like hot glue, if I'm honest. I know there are hot glues, which melt at lower temperatures, and hot glue comes in all kinds of sparkly colours, too, and can be melted again (with a heatgun, for instance). And, it is a little bit flexible (and technically more a plastic than a glue). I'll need to do some ingredient comparison...
Btw, it's nothing like resin, but it's non-toxic and eco friendly, and works with molds - although not as fast as uv resin: look up cold porcelain.
Yes, have seen cold porcelain recently, I may have to try that in the future too 😁😁
The first kind in the kit is really cool!
With the biodegradable stuff, edible glitters, paints, & foils should maintain the biodegradability of it. Might make it look better.
I saw this on Nelco neco’s channel it’s fascinating. Thank you for the translations. I was moderating on my friends channel last night, your name came up in the chat as she and I follow you. Several of her followers subscribed to you.
It's Such great stuff! 🤩
Awesome 😊 Thank you 😊 🙏
Oh yeah! Back in my youth, I used to have sets of vampire fangs( scarecrow labs) that had the reusable water melt plastic for making a gasket over your actual teeth to keep the fang on. This stuff is pretty fun. The kind i had was cloudy white( to help look like the tooth/ cap) it never occured to me that there would be colored products too. Lol😅
The whitemorph is what I'm familiar with. It doesnxt stick as much on skin compared to latex or other cousin compounds, but is easier to work with once it cools down a little after the beads are fused.
😮🎉🎉🎉 love it!!! 🎉🎉🎉❤
Thanks Melissa 😊
Wow my nephew is acrryinf on mine & my sisters passion for craft, he would absolutely love this set because he makes jewellery for all his friends at school. It’s brilliant stuff Ty for this
😁😁 very welcome, thank you 😊
I might have my daughter try the first one, if I can find it. I clicked your link and it's telling me it's not available here (USA). I love the idea of being able to reheat it and start over. She loves to do crafts, but gets a bit frustrated if something doesn't work, so I think this would be a great option! Thank you for showing us new things!😊
Thanks, very informative.
Thank you 😊
Very interesting product! My mind was running wild with all the tests I could do with pigments, layers, reflexion and refraction of colors that are seen when moved under light...
Do you think that cutting the bar in very thin slices with a razor blade or wire and then put in the hot water to soften, add color then assemble in the mold by layers with the correct pressure would manage to bond them?
Or the lines remain visible? Maybe not even stick! 😁 But I think they would, maybe reheat the stack before putting in the mold...
I can see beautiful unique gems being created with this.
I would still use resin to coat the ones that reach this stage to protect the shape and finish from heat damage.
It could even melt inside when exposed to sun rays 🤔
Thanks for your video, keep creating!
I have used the white pellets to make shapes and then to make silicone moulds. It is wonderful for this. I’ve never seen the the first one before and will be rectifying that in just a second. This stuff is truly amazing. Thanks Daniel. ✌🏻🤍
Otra opción 💜
Oyumaru, great stuff been around forever
I had this sruff in my cart last year as i had seen a few videos, and it looked cool. I finally decided to "save it for later" and forgot about it. Daniel!! You're killing my wallet! 🤣🤣🤣 I managed a whole 24 hours before breaking down and watching your video! My husband says i have too much resin craft stuff, but what does he know?!?!? 😂😂 I do need some help figuring out how to make a 3d mold from a 3d print my son made for me.
Oh Daniel, you were totally gobsmacked! Love to see your pure joy and how amazed you are. ❤️
Wow what a difference the bars could make to doing small items. It’s a real game changer. I like the idea of the balls however would you be able to colour them while in water? Plain white just doesn’t do it unless you made a tray or coaster & then put transfers on them. Or just have a fine base made from the balls & then decorate however you like. There is a use for the balls, but I really love the bars.
I must see if they are available from Amazon Australia
Thank you Daniel for sharing, I love watching your experiments
I never put it together but there are the at home denture kits being sold. They give you pinkish pellets to melt in water then you use them to form gums for dentures. If it doesn’t work before it gets cold you just reheat and try it again.
Yes, similar stuff 😁😁
Ohh I have a huge bag of morph beads with colour beads, I've Bern using it for years ive used to mold handles on craft tools so I can hold them better as I have Rheumatoid arthritis, never thought to use in for crafting ,thank you
Awesome 😊 Very welcome Tracey 😊
In the '90s we called it 'Friendly Plastic'. We used it in highschool art classes to make jewelry and wind chime decorations.
I love this! I had only seen the white pellets before. Now that I know you can get this in colors (especially the clear glitter!!) I'll have to use it more.
😁😁😁
I use the white pellets for molds particularly for clay. It's also great if you need to reverse negative something so you can have a positive to make a mold with. Fun video!
That's a great idea! Thank you 😊
This product allows for different pattern blending, like candy cane red / white but it may be able to be separated and reused differently. What a cool product review, thanks for sharing!
You always put a smile on my face. You have the greatest laugh ir chuckle when something works out. Thanks❤
🥰 thank you 😊 🙏
I bought Polymorph granules over a year ago and haven’t tried using it yet! You’ve inspired me now so if anyone is looking for me I’ll be locked in the workshop for the next week 😂
Yay, glad the vid helped 😊
There's an advert for bio resin below this video. I think this reusable "resin" is actually a type of hot glue formulated to melt at a lower temperature.
The instructions for the Whitemorph said heat it up to melt it, LET IT COOL, then mould it. I think you were perhaps a bit too eager.
Rather that heat the Whitemorph in water, try putting it in the mould, and hold the mould in hot water, or perhaps over a boiling kettle. The pellets should melt into the mould and pick up the detail. The problem is that it's white, so it's not going to show the holographic effect as well.
This is interesting stuff, but I think it'll be better for making moulds rather than being the finished product.
How do you get the holo on the mouldable plastic? Is that a special mould that transfers the holo over and over? (New to this stuff).
That plastic is brilliant! You could make your own original moulds for resin. Shapes/designs no-one else has. You could do so much with it! The fact it's malleable means you can use it like clay/plasticine, and do anything with it. I can't wait to see what else you do with it!
Congrats on 80k! Well deserved 😊💗🏴
Thanks so much 😊 Yes, it just transfers the effect 😊
Now this is what I call a game changer. Great for us who have reactions to resin if not kitted out in hazmat suits😅. It raises so many questions/thoughts on how it can be used, mixing colours together, alternatives to softening water, etc etc. I’ve not seen or heard of this before. Thanks Dan 🇦🇺💚
100% Many will know of this stuff but totally new to many of us, really looking forward to pushing the boundaries on this one 😁
That is really cool! Looks like maybe the pelllets would be better for repairs? Both are still pretty awesome.
I think so too! 🥰
I bet it would make a good mold
PT.2 coming shortly 😉😁
What a great find but I’m afraid I don’t have the patience but the possibilities with this product would be endless and those hearts look gorgeous
Thank you 😊
would like to see what happens ro holographic piece when remelted. Wonderful option 😊😊😊
There was a product called funky plastic made in the uk. Same kind of thing
Cool, yes, probably the same stuff 😁
The black wispy looks a little like tourmaline rutile quartz, beautiful.
😁🥰
My husband introduced me to "friendly plastic" about 25 years ago. It was white pellets you tossed into hot water and when it turned clear it was ready. Wasnt nearly as sticky as the bio stuff you used here. I am guessing this is the next generation of friendly plastic. My concern would be for making it as jewelry and the customer forgetting and getting into the shower, hot tub, team room or hot sun possibly? It's why I didn't use this for jewelry. Looks interesting enough to give it a go however. :)
WOW
Maybe for that morph white, you could put it into a baggie, then in the hot water? Then you could pipe it into the holographic mold. Maybe having it more liquid would help it take on that fine texture?
For the bendy assortment, perhaps use that for bangles or bracelets?
Could you try mix-ins? Knead tiny crystals or beads into the blob while it's hot?
I can see using that to pick up holographic texture from things that silicone can't. Then making a silicone mold from that! Back to the bangle idea...
Roll out that bendy sort into a flat holographic surface, then round it out into a wide bangle to use to make a silicone mold.
Just thinking... lots of possibilities!
Thank you for sharing your play with us!
I like this product I haven't seen before.
I have used the white pellets for many things but not in jewellery.
I make moulds for faces with it.. lasts forever.. ❤
Oh..n I don't use gloves..
It's great stuff isn't it 😁
How much fun is this! And you can reuse it! Woo Hoo! Too cool. 😎💥🎉💃
100% 😁😁😁
Great info. I also use this but always fun to see it used in different ways. Love that it picks up the holographic imprint
Thanks Kelly 😊
I’ve had the same jar of thermo-plastic for a couple of years now. Recently been planning on using it to make “blanks” that I can then make silicone molds of for actual resin pouring. Looking forward to seeing what all you do with it. ❤😊
That Asian kit, I’ve seen used as reusable flexible mold putty. The type I have cools to a hard consistency, it’s like the stuff you got in pellet form.
More to come 😁😁
You have so much more patience than me... when it stuck to your gloves, i would've been swearing like a sailor! 😂 I love the idea of using it for making molds... which is something i'm definitely struggling with right now!
Thank you Katie 😊 PT.2 coming shortly 😁😁
First heart looks like "bubbly resin" and a little "cracked" looking but yes, it looks like resin! Very easy to cut and trim as well! Holographic one looks awesome and chameleon powder one really picked up well also! I would still feel like it should have a UV resin coat on it because I can see it rubbing off over time.
But for those that don't have other options for resin or can't use it for health reasons, this is a GREAT alternative!
You mentioned using it to make molds- pouring the silicone over the form... What about using it to make a remoldable mold? You can make one-of-a-kind pieces, remelt itand make something new. If you really like the piece, you can use THAT to make the silicone mold?
Yes, that's been mentioned by a viewer who recommended I try this form, I will definitely be testing with both UV and Epoxy Resin, not sure about the heat tolerance with UV though but I'm sure I can crack a way 😊😊
If they haven't changed the recipe , the white beads do harden completely, you can still heat it up again and re use it even after it's gone solid
I used this years ago when it went under the name Plastic Fantastic 😊 it really is fun stuff and is easy to colour mica powder 🙂
Wonder if sealing it with UV will make it harder
Possibly, more to come 😊
I was wondering if I could tag you and link your glue video in a video I'm making? I recently recorded a video for TH-cam trying the glue technique you showed, but trying it with sprinkles (I couldn't get it to work unfortunately)
Also, I've used oyumaru for making molds before but never thought to use them in a mold, thank you. I'm curious about how different types of inclusions work in it? Like glitter, rhinestones, maybe even stickers for the clear ones? I originally thought flowers but then I realized those would just end up being crushed, haha. (I'm not 100% sure where mine ended up to try)
And for people who might not want a bigger set like this to just try out, last I knew they make them in small sets too (maybe 4 or 6 pieces if I remember right)
Sorry for the long comment, lol
Sure 😁😁😁. Most things will work in this 😊
This product reminds me of Friendly Plastic from back in day… 90’s. I loved that stuff!
It's probably the same just altered slightly 😁
The whitemorph reminds me of the stuff they use to make teeth for dentures. ... Interesting.
Having said that, I wonder how that material would work. I mean, it hardens enough to be used as teeth. Might be worth a try.
Cheers!
Yes, I have seen so many vids lately of people still using it to create temporary tooth fixes, it is super strong.
There's tutorials on TH-cam on how to use it to make teeth and how to colour it with coffee granules so it isn't so dazzling. One bloke done an incredible job. You'd need to be wary of having hot drinks though!
@@appleoneill5135 😂😂 100% Imagine that! Opening your mouth when on a date and your teeth are melting 🙈😂🤣
@@daniel..cooper Hahahaha that would be pretty bad. 🤣
Congrats on 80k subs Daniel!🎉
Thanks so much 😊 🙏
What about coating that bar stuff with pollyeurothane after it comes out of the mold That might harden it
Quite possible if it bonds 😁
Those white pelets might work better if you set up a double boiler kinda situation. You know like if you are tempering a soft chocolate?
Yes, may try a heat mat too to stop it cooling too fast 😊
I have so many questions what happens if you put it in the freezer what happens if you forgot about it in your pocket what happened if kids had it and forgot about it on the couch and body heat sat on it?
Body heat wouldn't be enough to melt it, it has to reach 90° C 😁 Freezer I think would just make it super hard until it hits room temp again 😊
They sold this as Friendly Plastic in the 80's. It was fun.
I remember friendly plastic. It's stiffer and not so bendy. You are right that we used hot water to reform it. It might be related, but bendy. Well... maybe the beads are closer.
Omg thank you this is incredible!
Very welcome, definitely great stuff! 🤩
I looked this up and found soaking in ice water speeds up the hardening. Do you think I should try?
Yes, will work 😊
Wonder if you could use a heat gun to keep it soft
Sure can, just not too hot 😊
You might not have got the holographic, but u have image of a young girl with following hair,Lol.Its top left of the pelitte resin. Can u she her 😊.
I went to order some they were out of stock. I did wanted to tell you that I started buy Let's Resin UV resin and it is the best stuff I bought.
Yes, sold out so fast! Not sure if the larger set is still in stock though.
I couldn’t find the “see more” in the description box. Where is this material sold?
Hi Deb, just below the video box there is a video description 😊 Failing that, search for Oyumaru on Amazon 😁
What if you mix the pellets with a chunk of the coloured ones? Make a less bendy version?
Hmmmm, possibly 😁
I used t0 use extra thick embossing powder and use in range pot and you can get the same results as resin x but it dries very quick when pouring it out,but it can be remelted 😊😊😊😊😊😊
I use Worbla's Crystal Art for this reason but it's all clear beads, but can be dyed with Rit Dye more to add colour tint or fold in mica/glitter powders.
Unfortunately it is unavailable on Amazon I would have liked to have a go with it, your videos are so informative and I love to watch them.
@14:08, you're talking about the joins, where you had to stuff different lengths into the mold to get around the corners. I wonder if you could set that mold on a heating pad or other heat source, to keep it warmer while you're working with it, and maybe cut down on the appearance of the joins?
100%, I mentioned a heat mat in some other comments, also, a heat gun on low would work 🥰
the holographic quality is due to the surface texture and that is why the hotter melt was able to pick it up- it was runny enough to take the exact shape of the surface of the silicone.
Wow 😱😱 Daniel!! Fantastic! I really like this product! I am one of those people with many allergies, unfortunately also to epoxy resin so I have to stay a long time without being able to use it. This material allows me to make cute ptos. Thank you so much for making me known!!😊🤗
So glad it helped 😊😊😊
Are you sure this isn't just oyumaru? 🤔 Oyumaru is for mold making.
That is it yes but it's not just limited to mold making 😊
I actually kind of like the holographic square with the rough spots. Gives it some character.
I love it. I just checked Amazon US and it is not availble.😢
Even the larger set Myla? Wow, sold out super fast! 😳
Maybe it will harden in 24 hrs. If someone lives where it's really hot will ut soften?
Worbla and some other producers makes a harder reusuable thermoplastic.
Can you try drilling it please Dan.
It's so soft 😊
Oh my goodness! I’ve been living under a rock! Never seen this product before. Amazing stuff. Love the chameleon heart ❤
It's so good! 😁
I wonder if it starts to soften up the more its reused, it has to get water in it, does that soften it up over time/reuse?
More tests to come 😊😊
I've used "Blue Stuff" thermoplastic for making on the fly molds for miniatures for many years it's great! This stuff would be great for kids because you don't want them messing with resin and getting an allergy because that sucks.
This looks like friendly plastic, especially the white morph, I've used for making jewellery. Thermoplastic is brilliant stuff but I had discounted it with resin as of the heat that the resin gives off too much heat and would melt it. This is why 'just try it' is so important. Thanks for the video Daniel ❤
100% 😁 We never know unless we try 😁 (with safety of course) 😂
Bioplastic, which can be made with kitchen staples is another alternative. I saw a young man, YT channel Green Plastics, make some years ago as a science project. He deserved an A+ 🤣
Awesome! It's great stuff 😁
I did infuse some of the white stuff with glow in the dark powder. Worked fantastically.
the white stuff I had wasn't soft or bendable at all for the record
Awesome, may try soon 😁
The Whitemorph seems to be more suited to a CNC machine.
That looks like oyumaru its used for mold making
This is really cool !!!! I had no idea there was something out there that’s a reusable resin (maybe I should try this 1st as practice before plunging into the other resins, including UV). At least until I get the hang of it, considering I don’t have my craft room set up yet (hopefully before the year ends ..who knows 😂😂😂.
That's a great idea, you could use it to practise a few resin related jewelry making techniques 😊😊
@@daniel..cooper Oh goodie…Yayyy!!! …you mean I get to play around with all my unused resin molds (mostly jewelry & a coaster mold) ??? I bought a jewelry kit off Amazon many years ago which included the UV resin (a generic brand that I have no idea how to pronounce..LOL) but never used it.
Not sure if it’s safe to use a UV resin that’s been in storage for so long. That is the question I need an answer to & a much BIGGER lamp than what I got (any tinier it will disappear …hahaha).
@jackiepena1541 Sure 😁 Yes, be careful with expired resin, some just will not work the same, if you do try it, be sure to wear your PPE and don't be disheartened if it doesn't cure, it will more than likely be the problem of the expired resin.
I don’t think it will work on molds with small/narrow/detailed places. The normal (liquid) resin can seep into the thin/sharp places-but I think it will be much harder to get into every place-having to push it in by hand. And you probably won’t know you’ve missed a place until you’ve finished and demolded. With regular resin, you don’t have to worry about that.
BUT…this IS a wonderful alternative for the many people with allergies and sensitivities!
And maybe even better…you don’t have to ‘cipher’, measure, mix, rush/worry about time, reuse/use waste more easily.
You can work in smaller amounts and just build it up 😊
I have so many questions, the biodegradable aspect is awesome, but how quickly? If you've made something awesome, you don't want it disintegrating. ( also, you were talking about being mindful of the planet, the company Lush have a plastic free glitter that they use, not mica, I don't know what it is, I saw it on 'Inside The Factory' last week).
This stuff would be awesome for kids, my granddaughter is 7 and constantly asking me for her own UV resin. My daughter in law has no experience and said flat out no lol but this stuff looks much more feasible. I need to look into it, the possibilities are endless really. I was thinking, dependant on price, is this stuff cheaper than UV? Could you perhaps use it as a base, then UV over it to give a stronger, less pliable structure? Also I was wondering if once it's pliable, could you mix it with some sort of colour like you can with fondant icing? See....questions lol Thanks for bringing it to our attention, I'm going to go check out price etc. x
EDIT: The same company do 12 sticks of clear for £11.99, hmmm....to buy or not to buy, that is the question lol ;)
I'm certain it would take moisture and lots of time in a thriving environment to break down 😊 PT.2 coming shortly 😁
Wow, genius... can i ask u a question?
I plan to buy a 320 W UV nail lamp for Uv resin, can i expose it to such a high voltage? Maby u can tell me what to use it for curing?
Thx in advance, your channel is amazing

No, I wouldn't use that much power, 36W is more than enough 😁
@@daniel..cooper thank you
WOW!!! Your channel is just one big surprise everytime I watch it. So many craft related things that we are not able to get here in South Africa. And to buy it from overseas is just so expensive with Rand /Dollar exchange it is not even funny..But I can at least enjoy all these marvelous creations and experiments of yours. Thank you Daniel.. 😊❤
Thanks so much 😊
Ok so because im not scientifically minded this will probably sound like a stupid question but because im curious i will ask anyway. If you remelt the pieces that have picked up the holographic effect....does the holographic part then disappear or does it get mixed through the melted piece? What happens to it? Sorry if that sounds silly. 😂
It will just disappear 😁 It is like a vinyl record print but reflects color 😊
Wonder if you could combine the two, bar one first then whitemorph as the backing?? LOVE your experiments!!
Possibly 😁
