- #236. Don't Be FOILED! This Resin IDEA Is EPIC!
In todays video we take resin art to a piece of foil and create a ring!
It just shows how we can use many different things for texture with our resin art and think outside the box! You could do this in so many styles or even make them bigger and turn them into resin art bangles!
How would you make yours? Let me know in the comments!

Oh my gosh the tin foil hat is absolutely EPIC roflmbo. Curses foiled again. Oh man dad jokes are going to happen
😂😂😂 I was so bored 😂😂😂
Dad jokes don't usually get me, but seeing you in a tinfoil hat made me chuckle (which doesn't happen a lot!)
My husband and I both chuckled on the tinfoil hat
@@singingsam40
Did make me laugh 😂
I’m not bored of the black background rubbish. I rather like black a lot. Thanks for sharing Dan!
Thanks so much Mike 😊 🙏
I agree!! I LOVE how the black makes the colors absolutely pop!!💖💖
Your channel has been the least boring, in my opinion 😊
Who can top all the experiments and new techniques?
Love the aluminum foil idea! The ring is beautiful, Daniel ❤
Thanks so much Ali 😊 🙏
I second that!! So many channels doing the same old BORING things. Dan's channel is THE BEST! 😄👍
Good for you Daniel telling people to go jump! If they don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.
The ring is gorgeous. It really stands out with the black background. 😍 Loved the puns. 😂
😂😂😂. Thanks so much 😊 🙏
If they don't like it, then stop watching the videos ding dong! I think you do great and I love your work
100% 😂🤣 Comments like that just do not bother me anymore 😂😂😂
@@daniel..cooper After 54yrs in a wheelchair (From Birth) I've got so used to people with their dumb&$$ comments, I say If they're picking on you, they're giving everyone else a break.
Keep up the experiments (Even if you do back everything in dull, boring black)
Love all your experiments, black background or not .
Jealousy is their own curse, pay no attention to it Daniel, keep being you all the way 😊
Thanks Lisa 😊 🫂
I really don’t know why people have to comment rudely! All they have to do is click and go to the next one. I love it and will continue to share like and love the inspirational and creative videos that you post. Thank you.
Thank you so much! 😊
Love ALL of your experiments !! I learn from each one of them. I save most of the videos so I can go back & rewatch & try them myself. If this person thinks it’s boring or tired of something-don’t watch -it’s that easy. No need for rude remarks.
Thank you Daniel for all you do !! I appreciate it !!!
Thanks Debra 😊 🫂
That is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! BLACK is definitely the correct color!!!
Thank you 😊 🙏
Go Dan, you tell them😅 That ring Is bloody beautiful 😍
Thanks Pamela 😊 🫂
This one surprised me in a good way. As a Catholic owned gift shop I always try and figure out how to “Catholic it up” lol. I think the black really made it pop.
Nicely done Dan.
Thanks Stella 😊 You could do so much with this 😁 So much bling and gems, all sorts 🥰
You are so NOT boring, you are are clever and talented, I love watching your videos.x
Thank you 😊 🙏
Oh.. the black background made it pop. This is so cool. I can see ear cuffs with a cute dangly bead.. and even some chunky hoop earrings using this technique. Thank you. You aren't boring. The black isn't boring. I enjoy your videos!
Thank you 😊 Yes, so much can be done on many scales 😁
Oo, ear cuffs, that's a fantastic idea. They'd be really unique.
That is right Dan, they don't have to watch if they don't like it. The rest of us do!! Love this video!
Daniel how can anyone say your videos are boring? NO, no they are definitely NOT boring, I love all the different things you try, including this, I think this is amazing, whoever said you are boring, I would block them, can't wait to see what you create next
Thanks Julie 😊 🫂 I can't be to everyone's taste 😂 That would make me perfect! 😂 I don't wanna be perfect 🥰
I like the black background! I know you aren't worried about those complaining negative folks!! Your creations are always interesting and I like tour ring!!
Thank you 😊 Not at all worried 😂🤣 It's funny at times to be honest 😂
Just because Daniel prefers a black background, which helps provide depth and offsets the colour, doesn't mean YOU have to.
His experiments are interesting and he is sharing. Be grateful!!
Thank you 😊 🙏
This would be the perfect project to use soft gel resin. Very clever Daniel, looks awesome!
Thanks Julie 😊 🫂
I was thinking the same thing!
Really nice piece Dan, your channel is amazing, ignore people like that commenter.
Love it! Don't worry about the "boring" people. Actually, I think your videos have gotten much more interesting in the last 6 months than ever before! I think a lot of that is due to you adding more of yourself in the videos and all the cool "experimenting" you do. You are different, funny, and creative! Keep up the good work. I'm sure most of your viewers agree with me...and if others don't like it...they don't have to watch! 💜❤️💜
Thanks so much Charelene 😊 🙏 💓
OMG! I bet that would look amazing if you used holographic transfer foil along with the aluminium (I think you guys have it right and we're wrong) foil... If it would transfer onto the resin... or maybe leave it in with the resin in between layers..the powder looks good too tho 👍and ignore the trolls! We're not bored!
Thanks, yes, I would apply after bending as mentioned though 😁 Would look epic! 🤩
That looks amazing! Ignore those people who say you're boring. They don't know what they're talking about. I've always found everything you do very interesting. Keep up the awesome work!
100%. Thanks Lisa 😊 🙏
AMAZING! Who the heck said you are boring? What a loser! You’re my fave resin art tuber. You’re awesome! Love your sense of humor. You said it: “you try it!” Love it, love it! Thank you!
Sounds like somebody is jealous!!
You're definitely NOT boring... your videos are interesting and inspiring.
100% 😂. Thank you 😊 🙏
GREAT VIDEO! Thank you so much for sharing, most of the ring molds are too bulky/ thick. This is a phenomenal alternative & as always... Very Entertaining! 💖 p.s. You are Never Boring!!
It's so very beautiful!!!! The black against the iridescent color is brilliant❤❤❤
Now I can try creating a ring without necessarily "buying" a mold❤❤❤❤ (watching from Nigeria 🇳🇬)
OMG HOW AMAZING 😮😮😮😮 BEAUTIFUL TOO!! And how rude of that person.
Thanks Tammy 😊 🫂 Yes, it made me laugh so hard 😂🤣
How dare they call you boring, let them try and do what you do, I love your experiments!
Thanks Rhonda 😊 🫂
Obviously the rude people complaining about the black don't understand the products you're working with. So not worth the time of day acknowledging their ignorance! This turned out really pretty and without the black,it's full potential would not have been seen. Lovely job!
Epic - you’re getting so confident and I love your style. Very funny, enjoyable, SO original and informative to watch :)
Thanks Claire 😊
That is a fun way to make a gorgeous ring! I LOVE the black backgrounds, they really make colors pop! But you know who is boring? People who are rude and criticize the artist who puts a lot of time and effort into making multiple comprehensive videos for FREE. That is the mark of a bore. It's shameful and I hope they see themselves for what they are and grow up and learn gratitude.
100% 😁😁😁 Thank you 😊
That's funny. Black just works best as far as backgrounds go. Haters will hate.
😂 so true
They also have soft resin for things like rings and bracelets. I can't wait to get some and try it. Havent yet. Krei used soft resin and made things between two thick silicone molds. Brilliant!! As always, I love your video. You make great things.
Loved every bit of the video including the black background. It was the perfect color for it. Reminds me of the Ocean.
Aluminium... tututururu 😆 (Like the manahmanah song) You'll never going to be pronounce it otherwise 😆
The foil should help with any aliens 🤣😂 Just A shame it doe's not work with the trolls.
Most of the time it is the black that makes things pop.
Great work Danial 👍 Great idea 👍🤩
I can’t stop watching!!!😊 thank you. Keep up the humor please !!🤩🤩🤩
I've done a few rings with uv resin. You might find it easier using soft type uv resin for the first steps until you get it shaped. Then the final coating layer(s) in the hard type uv resin. I find it easier. I love your idea of making a mold of the length before shaping to a circle. I'm going to start doing that. It will make it a lot easier when repeating a size. A mold for each size and/or texture would be great!
I tried something new to me recently. I coloured with some transparent black and then added a little of my darkest blue mica powder, then used as a backing. It came out quite a dark midnight blue. Works as nicely as black to make colours pop. Just a slightly different approach.
:) People suck. Do whatever you want to do, Daniel. It doesn’t matter what colors you use, it’s the new techniques that I learn from you that I really appreciate!
Would never had thought of a ring using aluminum foil. The BLACK really makes it pop. 😊
"The things we do for views..." Mate, that hat right there not only got you a view, it got you a new subscriber.
That foilish joke?
Totally worth it.
I'm going to comment before I even watch the rest because your tin foil hat is EPIC. 🤣 Now back to the video.
Navy or very dark green, maroon etc background coating might work. Not tried it yet but just had the thought about the navy with the blue powder you chose. Great texture from the foil👍🏼
Hahahaha I was going to make the same comment…it’s free to watch…some of us really appreciate you and all your videos…keep on keeping Daniel❤
No Dan you're not in The Least Boring
You' just take things in youre stride if they don't work the way you want
You know the saying
If at first you don't succeed
Try again it's nice that you just Laugh about it
Oh wow, I thought the clear background looked great and then you did the black. WOW, that looked awesome!!!
Hi Daniel, I do not think you are boring at all. I am so thankful for you sharing your experiments with us. I love how the ring turned out! ❤
Thank you so much! 😊
❤ love the black but black red and white are my favorite colors I'm boring 😂😂😂
It does look better with the black background.
I love all your crazy ideas. That is talent. Forget about ignorant comments. That is a beautiful ring and I will be trying that on earnings and pendants too. ❤
gorgeous!! when you initially sanded down the edges I thought it looked really nice, it gave it a different look that I really like. Thankyou for sharing.
I think the ring is beautiful. Most of the resin colors pop more with a black background.😊
Hey Daniel! Jeezzz the haters eh?? Moving on, have you tried soft resin, if not..get ittttttt! It's brilliant stuff, you do have to coat it with hard resin after you've found the shape you want, but, so worth it! I've made loads of rings that way. Loving the idea of tin foil as a texture, that's inspired! Thanks as always for your awesome videos Mr. Boring 😜😉, rest assured your true fans have your back Don't let the negatives ruin your vibe, you have it good because you've earned it, Jealousy is an ugly shade of inadequacy xxx
Soooo true 😂 No, I will be ordering some today, I definitely need some! I need to check my package from Resin Rockers actually, I may have some but haven't opened it yet 😂🤣
@@daniel..cooper Ooo! Can't wait to see what you make with it x
I love your videos! You are not boring!! Your tutorials are always easy to follow. I wonder how that blue would look with a gold behind it? I think I'll give it a whorl😊
Such a great idea! Can't wait to give it a try. Maybe I'll smooth all the edges to make it more feminine looking.
I love Black! Can you really have to much? Keep up the good work, love your Sence of humour!💕
Yes, very nice. I'm thinking of some jewelry for my cat.
@tvs3497
Oooh, hey! You could use gummy UV resin, make it a bit thicker, add a tiny buckle, even insert some cute inclusions...ADORABLE!
Pay NO🚫 MIND 😌to the rude👹 people and the snarky comments💩! I find those who usually have a negitive 👎snotty👃 remark about someone's art 👨🎨🎨 is someone who isn't as talented🏅🏆🎨 as the person they are criticizing🤓. So take those snarky remarks as COMPLIMENTS👍🤗🥳 to your talent 🥇👨🎨🎨and the whacko🤪 cool😎 ideas🤔 you come up with. You give US inspiration😇🤗 to try your whacko🙀 ideas and make some UNIQUE 🤠🥳& COOL 😻😲resin pieces. WE don't think your black 🌑backgrounds are boring🥱, specially when it makes the colors🌈 POP💥! KEEP ON SHARING😃🤗. BTW the tinfoil hat was awesome 🤣, it kept 👽ET from controlling😱 your🤯 mind...🤣🤣😂😂
Thanks so much, so many emojis! Love it 😀 😍 ❤️
You and that tin foil hat 😂😂 Love this idea, so creative! I wonder if using the torch to heat it up would work to bend it? Also could you cut it to make different patterns?
Not boring, I say if they have a color that works better then black prove it! there isnt one I have tried!
100% 😁😁😁
Ignore the naysayers! I love your videos!! Thank you for doing what you do Daniel!
How about incorporating the tin foil IN the ring? Use that as the background? Cover it with powder before laying the resin. Then coat the inside as you did here to protect it. I don’t know, just thinking out loud…
I think I asked the same thing,but in a different way 😊
It could work, worth a try 😁 it may not cure through though.
It looks so cool, reminds me of water. I'm happy for any new ideas with resin. 👍😁
Thanks so much 😊
I thought it looked like cracked ice - so cool!
Of course black is the best option. It has the best tendency to enhance all those beautiful colours. Keep going.
Don't listen to the trolls! they're just miserable and jealous that they aren't able to do fun resin experiments and make pretty pieces themselves! You are one of the most innovative people in this zone, and because of your glue trick, I use glue all the time, not only to suspend glitter, but to keep colors from mixing as much when poured in same layer. I wouldn't know that if I hadn't tried it at all. And I wouldn't have tried it had I not seen your video! I also use UV resin and corn starch to make tiny pieces that I then use in larger projects. Again, I learned that here. You are NEVER boring, and if you want a black background on everything all the time, that's your prerogative! LOL :)
And really nice ring, btw!! Forgot to mention that!
Thanks Jennifer 😊 So glad the vids are helping 🥰😁
Lovely idea! I think tin foil is fantastic - gives a beautiful interesting pattern in it! Love the black background, it makes thing pop just beautifully!
Love it!
Is it possible to join the 2 edges together, to complete the ring!
Ken’s and Karin’s will always be around - just ignore!
Thx so much Daniel👍🏼.
Lynda🧚🏼♀️💕
Thanks 😊 It's possible but I do think it would crack eventually 😔
Awesome ring!!! The FABULOUS BLACK BACKGROUND 😂 really did make it pop! I was thinking Dan you could use those paper/cardstock embossing panels/folders for different designs with the aluminium foil. Or even fantasy film instead of aluminium that way you would have instant colours. I so love your experiments and yours is by far one of the most original, humble, interesting and entertaining channels , of course in my opinion. Always two enthusiastic thumbs up. 👍 😊
Thank you 😊 Fantasy film would look epic! 🤩
I love your intros Daniel! This is an awesome tutorial! ❤😊
Once you have your ring where you want it, you could make a mold of it for easy reproduction as well.
Also, with the negative commenters, they most certainly DO NOT speak for everyone. I for one tend to prefer the black backgrounds, but even if I didn’t, I wouldn’t presume to tell you how you should do YOUR art.
That’s what a tutorial is all about. Showing you what YOU can do, and if you don’t like something in the tutorial; try something different ON YOUR OWN.
Don’t try and manipulate the artist into doing things that aren’t his style simply because YOU lack the confidence to try and do it YOURSELF.
Alright, now I will get down off of my soapbox and stop lecturing. 🤣
Nothing but love and support for you and your channel Daniel. Cheers! ❤😊
Thanks so much Katrin 😊 🙏 They probably make a ton of money from my content too 😂🤣
Loved the beginning just brilliant had a giggle for sure. Brilliant idea !!! NEVER bored of the black bagrounds DO MORE AND MORE !! you show that naysayer what for lol. That ring was just gorgeous and so many idea can come of this for sure
Thanks Selene 😊 🫂
Dan! I had thought of using gummy UV resin (but then I saw someone already mentioned it earlier), then hardening it with regular UV, for rings or jewelry. THEN, I thought...hey! You could make a beautiful, soft, cat collar with gummy resin, just using a tiny buckle...OR attaching a bit of elastic, instead. Too bad you don't do craft shows! Well, maybe some here, do, and they might like the idea.
Awesome, yes, could make some crazy accessories with this 🤩
Never boring. They need to just scroll past!! Love the ring x
This is so cool! I wish I had just an pinch of your imagination - who would have thought aluminum foil could make such an eye-popping design?!? 🤩 So glad I came across your posts in the RR FB group and found your YT. Looking forward to the next resin project/experiment!
Thank you so much! 😁
I love the black! That is really cool ❤
14:20 Nothing boring about excellence, my man. Keep being so...
Edit: it'd be neat to see a still pic of each side by side, ya know? With and without the black background... It'd also be neat to see different dark color backgrounds, too. Like dark green, dark purple, maybe a deep deep red...
Peace 🙏
🐉🐉
Thank you 😊 I will bear this in mind. Its hard to do all colors because I do not sell, everything is currently just stored at the moment, you can imagine just how much stuff I have stored 😂🥰
I LIKE THAT. That is really nice and guess what, the black background only enhances the beauty of the color shift powder. Also, I still think you are very creative and think WAY outside the box. Hope you have a great day. And I know I will continue to watch and like your videos.
Thanks so much 😊 🙏
Incredible result, Dan. My wife watched with me and wants one (probably more than one) 😜. Thanks for the "free" video. Don't let the jerks take from your cool stuff. I never miss a video.
Thanks Steve 😊 🫂
For the record, I like the black background on most pieces as well
Hi Daniel! Once again: congratulations! I really like headband rings and I really like this!! I also wanted to say to the rude person who told you that you are boring ... : why do you watch the channel?! Maybe because it's anything but boring! You have proposed a lot of experiments and new jobs! Amazing jobs! I think that there are very envious people and do not have the ability to create so they attack and criticise those who, like you, have all the abilities to do and create! Then if he doesn't like it, just change the channel, right? A hug and thank you for everything !!! 😊❤
Thanks so much Sabina 😊 🙏
If you think what he does is boring then DONT WATCH. How’s the world ever going to evolve with people that have nothing better to do than put crap on TH-camrs. Great Video mate! Love the colour and texture.
Thanks so much 😊 🙏
Love this!! You are fearless when attempting new ideas ❤️!! As for the black background….no other colour is nearly as effective so you are spot on with your colour choice 👍👍. Love this channel
Thank you 😊
OMG Daniel. Beautiful and not what I expected it to look like. I’m also wondering if it would be strong enough for a cuff bracelet? Also what if we embossed the foil, possibilities? 😊
Yes, I think so 😁😁😁
That is really nice. Mrs. Cooper may want one of her own, or she could just snag yours ❤... Don’t listen to morons. They obviously did not understand the concept of black on the backs. You have taught me to use black . Tired of black? Then make your works be “Meh”..
Thanks so much Deb 😊 🫂
Your 100% not boring, I love all your videos, you experiment & waste materials (actually very rarely a waste tbh)
So we don’t have to
Keep going Daniel plz
Thanks Amanda 😊
Love the foil! LOL And black isn't boring it brings many special effects alive! Silly trolls!
So true 😂 Thank you 😊
Also Daniel the black background goes better with a lot of your stuff. I don’t find you boring, I watch and like EVERY one of your videos, I certainly don’t always comment and I share them with my daughter sometimes but she’s also subscribed to you but she works and I’m retired so she may miss a few. Just go away haters we love Daniel. 💕
Thanks Pauline 😊 🫂
So if that person had ever worked with color shift or interference or mica powders, they would know black is what makes them look the best. 🤦🏻♀️ Truly - there is nothing boring about your videos. I love this ring. So creative!
So true 😂 Thank you 😊
Turned out fantastic! 😍 Ignore the jealous haters. 🙄 They wish they were doing as well as you are. 😉
I've seen tin foil (and also thick cellophane) used to create "facets" in resin by folding it carefully. I've also seen a similar technique to this one done with cellophane before and it looks great too but I very much like the more "sharp" or "shattered" look you achieved here with the crumpled foil. I remember using foil like this to texture polymer clay but the resin takes much more detail and since it's transparent you can create a smooth feeling ring that still looks highly textured. It's awesome! 🥰
BTW, it's awesome that you created basically an adjustable ring and all you need is a bit of hot water to adjust it, within reason of course. 😅 Though it probably would be best to make a mold of the ring after adding the smooth front coat, before adding the color and black coat, so you can simply cast your base ring easily to make as many as you want. 😁
Thank you 😊 Yep, have done those methods before myself 😁
luv it thanks for the ideas-----I LIKE THE BLACK BACKGROUND
Thanks Karen 😊 🫂
Cool ring - £1, tinfoil hat - priceless.🤣
😂😂😂😂 thanks Patricia 😊 🫂
With it being Easter weekend, I have just opened a Crème Egg & as I was eating the egg, I was looking at the inside of the foil wrapper & thought how perfect it would be to use as it already has been crinkled up & it takes barely any effort to add some more crinkles where it may still be a little used. Maybe this Easter, it will be worth reusing the foil from any eggs that you, friends or family may have. A good way to reuse & recycle.
Happy Easter 😊
Good idea! Happy Easter Becka 🐣 🐰
Awesome as always!
Daniel, you always make me chuckle! Thank you for the Vaseline tip! That turned out gorgeous!
Thanks so much 😊 🙏
Love all of your videos. You have such a fun way of seeing things and so willing to experiement. I agree, if you do not like, move on. Great way to tell them so. Me, I will be back as long as you make the videos. Great job, Dan. Thank you for sharing.😊
Thank you so much! 🥰😊
I love this! With the options of being able to design and modify the band as you did, you could take the open end of the ring and “solder” one of your beautiful resin cabochons with UV resin to a ring. Being sure the cab doesn’t stick out too far on the sides, sits almost flat. And also I agree that black really makes the powders and colors pop! So many variations! Thank you for sharing!
100% 😁 I will try that soon 😁😁 Thank you 😊
Ignore the debbie downers. If they say anything about the black backgrounds then they don't understand how any of this works. With the powders you use that's the best option. If they don't like it then they should make one with the colors they want. Don't complain about it 😂😂.
I love how this turned out. I'll have to give it a try. I don't know what the middle part of the ring sizer is called either so don't be too hard on yourself 😂😂.
✌️❤️🤣 peace, love and happiness
100% true 😁 Thanks so much as always 🥰
Wow. That is fab. How the heck can you be boring? There is always that one person who gets enjoyment insulting content creators. They're just sad keyboard warriors 😂. A lot of resin artists have learned a few tricks because of your content. Your name is mentioned a lot on TH-cam. So keep up the good work and thank you 😊
Thank you 😊 🙏
I love this channel because of the crazy experimenting, thinking outside the box methods, love it!!!
Thanks Pamela 😊
Absolutely stunning Daniel the black definitely makes the color pop you’re definitely not boring. Love your videos. Really appreciate you sharing all your talent with us. Pay no attention to the idiots out there. Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks so much Angel 🥰
I love the black backgrounds! But more importantly, your ideas are so inspiring!!! How they got stuck on the colors you use and not the fact that you are giving us the most amazing ideas that they can do in whatever colors they want I don't know. Don't let it bother you, you are awesome!
Thank you 😊
Beautiful ❤. This technique has so many possibilities. Ignore the trolls - what have they contributed?
Thank you 😊 So true 😂
