Thank you so much for sharing your dear mother's recipe. I will try it tonight for my family. Every recipe I make from this channel (& your cook books) turns out so delicious that we never have left overs. Everyone says these recipes are better than any Indian restaurant serves & I agree. I've been making Indian food for almost 40 years now mostly using Madhur Jaffrey's cook books. Your recipes are even better.
I have already tried your chickpea and spinach curry, chicken curry with coconut milk, absolutely both delicious, and will definitely be trying this for sure. Our moms are the best. Unfortunately, i lost mine, so hold them close to your heart while you still have the chance xxx
This is a must-try. We always say 'Chetna's mum' but I suppose the dear woman has a name! Many of us will fondly recall cooking alongside our mothers, but you will always have these wonderful films to treasure. Hoping to see you cooking with your sister again some day, or even the whole trio together!
I think your Mom is awesome! Thank you for sharing your mother's recipes and knowledge about cooking real Indian comfort food with us. Mom is spot on with the bit of salt at the beginning with the tomatoes. Salt brings out the juices and helps break down the solids a little faster. Go, Mom 😊🙏!
So wonderful that you get to cook with your Mom. I've never heard that you shouldn't eat sprouted potatoes. I just take the eyes out, peel and then cook them.
cooking with mom is always the best! how much we learn from them and we thought we knew it all. mothers are the best and hopefully our daughters will say that about us one day because of the recipes we passed down from our moms 🥰 and please thank your mom from me for being a sweetheart ❤️
I so appreciate a chef (or cook in my circumstances) that use all the ingredients from the bowl when cooking ❤ The aroma of this chicken curry must be amazing! I too use potatoes that have sprouted and yeah I'm still alive over half a century + later 😊 Your mum's recipe is so worthy of trying out and will make this in the coming weeks. Thank you so much to you and your mum for sharing!!!
I am the same with my potatoes haha! Looks delicious, I was looking for a chicken curry recipe to make this weekend and I think I have all the ingredients for this (though I might have to sub tomatoes with tinned ones)! So exciting!
I love this recipe and have made it a few times now! Thank you masi for the delicious recipe! I have to say you need to add at least 30-40 mins to the cook time to get the chicken and the potatoes cooked properly. Just my experience.
Thank you so much for this recipe. I have cooked many of your vegetable based dishes and they have always been lovely, but this was the first time I've cooked a meat based dish, and it was really delicious. Please thank your mum for sharing her wonderful recipe with us and ask her to share more, it's such a great opportunity to try original, family recipes. Thank you too, Chetna, for making your recipes so easy to follow.
You can’t beat Mums recipe, especially when you’re using Mums homemade garam masala. I’ve never tried putting potatoes in a chicken curry but I will definitely give it a whirl now. Thank you Chetna & Mum 🥰
I actually buy the whole chicken and cut it myself 😊. Also love to watch your videos as I find your way of cooking very similar to how I do in my kitchen. I have been living in Belgium since last 17 years and my 2 daughters love my cooking. Every single household have their unique taste…… mother’s recipes are the most delicious ❤
I tried this recipe yesterday and it was super delicious :) It made a great leftover for lunchbox to work. In the video you said she uses very different spices then you. Could you show us your recipe so we can compare? :)
I made this last night and it was absolutely delicious. Tasted different to your usual curries maybe because your mum used spices you would never usually use the whole black cardamom gave it it a different flavour. I would recommend this as it is now one of my favourites and I will definitely make it again.
Chetna, I adore your recipes and content! I own many of your cookbooks and make your food on a weekly basis! Thank you for so many delicious healthy meals!! Keep up the amazing work with all that you do! You are definitely one of my all time favorites!!
OMG I made this yesterday and eating it now. Its so tasty! I have 2 confess I'm on my 2nd bowl!! I love cooking of any variety. BUT I HAVE 2 SAY A MASSIVE TY!! The curry was so moreish n I can't believe I made it 😊 I intend on cooking this time after time. It has become my top curry favourite 😍 ty again 4 sharing.
My mom has always said that bones add a lot of flavor to chicken curry. I normally use chicken breast but I’m going to try this version with some chicken thighs and drumsticks. Big thanks to your mom for sharing this delicious recipe!!!
Dear Chetna. Good evening. Hope you're well. Can you please pass on a huge thanks to your dearest Mum for this amazing recipe. I made this today with potatoes by following the recipe. It has come out absolutely brilliantly. Thank you. 😊😊😊 👌 (I will make it again.)
Made this curry today for Sunday dinner, it was excellent, the black cardamom adds a rich woody texture. I did add more potatoes but I am Irish and also a few chick peas but overall, an excellent curry
Hiiiii Chetna yummy that's looks delicious 😋 I cook chicken curry like that too with potatoes, on Friday I cooked chicken breast curry with okra it was really nice 😋 I will definitely cook chicken curry with Potatoes again 😋 it's good to see you and your mum together cooking in the kitchen again, me and my mum we both cook together in the kitchen as well ❤ thank you so much for sharing this amazing chicken curry and potatoes recipe 😋😁😍❤
Wonderful recipe 👍👍👍. This is very close to what we make at home. One thing different we do is that we marinate the chicken for at least 2-3 hours, preferably overnight in the refrigerator. Make slits in the chicken with a paring knife. Marinate with ginger garlic paste, turmeric, red chilly powder, natural yoghurt (dahi) and juice of one lemon. If u do this, you need to adjust (lower) the quantity powdered spices which Chetna added after the chicken was added to the masala. Rest of the process was exactly what was in this video. Also instead of garam masala you can add ready made Meat Masala, which also tastes great. If u have a reasonably high spice/ heat tolrence, grind 2 green chillies with the tomatoes and put that puree in when the onions, ginger and garlic go brown.
Hello Chetna and Mum. always a delight to see the two of you together.. Im doing a dinner for 5 next weeks and whilst I have a pretty good recipe base, I thought to myself What's Chetna got and thought this is perfect .. Thanking you
@@FoodwithChetna You wouldn't believe it .. I did this Chicken a resounding yes, a beef and roasted cauliflower and lentil curry.. AND i forgot to take a photo ;-( .. but I guess that says it all really.. My Partners daughter visiting from Australia asked for the recipe and now have introduced her to you ;-) X
Loving the recipes! But. I noticed that as you were adding the spices, you were saying teaspoons and the info that appeared on the bottom left, it said tablespoons. I’m not sure what to use. Can you clarify?
Love this recipe and you and your Mom cooking together! Thank you for sharing! Just wondering...your text for most of the spice measures say Tbsp and your audio says Tsp? Which is it, please?
