  • MME Simsport produces some of the most impressively engineered and visually striking sim racing hardware I've ever laid hands on, but do you actually need this kind of quality in a piece of sim racing hardware?
    Today we check out their Handbrake, Sequential Shifter and H-Pattern+ Sequential Combo to see what you get for the money and if they're worth considering for your sim rig.

      As the fact of the matter, they aren't, their main source of income is making sequential shifter conversion kits and conversions. Some of the kits are "bolt on" actuators to the original gearbox and the additional gear that is needed, but they also make custom solutions for some insane TT, rally and Hillclimb builds.
      And the sim racing part is just a side hustle, when the machines (CNCs etc) have enough down time to make a piece or two.

      @@AttilaTheHun333333 Some of it is from a local rally store, and some of it is from the local website where you can check the state of a certain company. Given the fact that they are a small team of about 3-4 people, with well equipped workshop, since they have been doing the sequential shifter modifications for a few years already, so the decision to start makeing simracing gear was a great source of steady "low-effort/passive" income (you make that batch and sell that gear in the long run, vs working every day to produce the units/ install car mods like they normally do). But from a friend, I heard that the simracing gear was coming a good few months before it was publicly announced. And he said that the feeling is just amazing and very close to a feel of a real dog-box shifter.
      Don't know the details on the ratios between sim and real racing gear, but I know that the simracing gear sales are going well. But given the fact that they had been doing car modifications before for a while, I implied in the previous reply that they must have been earning enough money to keep the operation going, otherwise the company would not still be operational. And from that concluded that the income from simracing is just a bonus (despite the fact that now they actually be making more money with sim gear).

    This just makes me even more want to build a full ffb h+seq shifter.. you'd be able to swap gates if you wanted a gated ate or you could use a boot, could be a 2 speed (aka sequential), 4 speed, 5 speed, 6 speed, 7 speed easily, would grind if not matched for clutchless shifting/floating gears, adjustable neutral stiffness, cross gate stiffness, slot-in stiffness, slot in position, option for load cell knob for sequential for blipping (like real car) .. harder but on my list is adjustable throw without giving up actual movement as well as adjustable height and offset.. only downside is that no sims support most of the stuff I want to do thus requiring a lot of software support (and specific game support) to work.. seriously about to open solidworks and start printing although I'd probably need some motors because all I have on hand is giant odrive motors.. but most of this has been done diy already, I dunno why no companies haven't done this, maybe patent problems but I'm sure this could all be done with good quality for under 500$

    In order to fit the H pattern to a rig, ~90% of the buyers would have to fabricate a mount for their 1 slot, 40x40 profile this would be mounted to (as shown in the video). Its a shame this hasnt been thought of, it'd be dead easy to fabricate and far simpler

      @@nicholascrow8133 I own a FREX and hate the wide gates and unless shift tension is adjusted for hard shifts it will tend to bounce out of gear a lot because the switches do not activate until the end of the gate so any play in the stick can cause the button to come out just enough to pop out of gear. If you shift into gear soft it tends to not happen but if you like slamming gears it will bounce out often enough to matter. I had a TH8A before FREX and the speed I could shift that thing without thinking about it was fun even though it felt like a toy. The FREX has a pretty good feel to it going from 3rd to 4th on light tension but shifting to the sides I feel like I am fighting around the gates to get into gear. A lighter centering spring might help this some but I think you would still feel the gates a lot. Wish I would of got the MME just for how smooth the gate is and the zero play in the stick. Bash Pro does look interesting but the tension on that thing looks really stiff and not to mention how loud it is if that matters to you. I like how it has zero play in the center spring even though I know I will hate the stiffness of it. The lockout feature is really cool and I love to float gears so having that immersion would be really fun but idk if it is worth it over having a smooth clean shift since that is what you feel the most. If you like a stiff shifter that feels like a dog box transmission than the Bash pro might be perfect for you.

    TLDR : Buy a cnc machine and you'll make ur money back in 100-1000 handbrakes.

    400 euro ... I have Aiologs sequential shifter and I'm sure it is better than this one for half the price...

      I have Aiologs too. Objectively it's not "better" than this in any particular way otehr than perhaps the smaller more convenient size and mounting. But its exceptional value for money! I've been running it on my daily driver rig for almost 3 years now.

    lmao at those prices you just get a simvertex h pattern, a simagic sequential and something like a bjsteel handbrake, all of them quite superior choices imho

    It's funny, People got into sim racing because it was cheaper then real motorsport, Now it almost is/or is the other way around. I mean my complete setup is now touch 20k+

    • @boostedmedia
      @boostedmedia  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah it gets out of hand easily if you let it. Still a lot more accessible than real life motorsport though.

      I’ve spent some time on motorsports and I can tell you that 20k doesn’t buy you anything in motorsports in the real world. Sim racing hobby like any other gets expensive when you decide to take it to a higher level

    • @Rmagid
      @Rmagid ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wtf do you have that you spent 20k 😂

    • @samuelye2860

      @@Rmagid Fr. It's impossible to be spending that much if you were cost conscious at all.

    • @samuelye2860
      @samuelye2860 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I mean, I don't know much about the cost of irl motorsports, but isn't the overall cost over a few years way higher? If you factor in the consumables like tires, I can imagine 20k would maybe get you a few months of actual racing. Ofc your simrig doesn't actually have many (or any) wearing parts.
