Say what you will, but Sammy put together some great musicians and a big production to honour Van Halen music and give the fans something. So all of the haters and Dave can sit in their basements and sulk while they could have all been a part of something special. This is it guys. This is as close as you're going to get.
This and Wolf Van Halen's appearance during Taylor Hawkins tribute. If I closed my eyes, I could swear Wolf was channeling his dad during those performances.
I think its pretty fucking cool! A little bit reimagined, but these guys are in their late 60s/mid 70s! I actually prefer Joes tone to Evh later guitar tone! Love it with these guys and I love van halen in every iteration! ❤
I find it ridiculous that the comments say without EVH it's not Van Halen.... of course it's not Van Halen it's just a tribute.... lots of crying idiots in the comments
Roth will be SEETHING at this! Joe does this one really well, first one I've heard him get close to. The 5150 tracks are just too unique to copy properly, it seems, but this is great. The breakdown by Sammy is total cringe though!
I see this happening a lot with Joe on a lot of these songs the first show he nailed every solo perfect. It is the shows are going on he’s forgetting the solos they’re not his songs so he doesn’t know them like the back of his hand and a clear example of that was this Panama solo, where he nearly forgot the second verse of that solo and almost didn’t play it then he called himself and finished it and then went to the outro part of the solo which is the slower part of the breakdown as you can see he almost forgot to play that he needs to nail the Panama solo exactly the way it is on the album that’s two iconic of a solo to not do perfectly
Give the guy a break it's the 2nd show of the tour and they didn't rehearse on a soundstage. It's a lot different with the lights and twice the stage space. This band on their worst night is gonna be better than most on their best night.
i get that Jason is paying tribute to his dad (who was one of the most important drummers ever) but i think the bass drum heads should have pictured Eddie and Alex. Just my take.
David will be the only Van Halen singer ever... The only reason why Hagar join Van Halen is because he lost a key to his three lock box and His career clock was well past 8.05
'I like this one'. Good grief. This tour was sold as a tribute to Eddie and VH's legacy, not about what Hagar likes. It turned into a Sammy & Friends Tour with a few non-Sammy tunes thrown in. Lame.
"I like this one" Sammy, you should be thanking every day for the chance of joining the best band in history. Enough with the snarky remarks, just honor Eddie's legacy and let the music do the talking. ;)
#1-Sammy took Van Halen to a whole different level, a better one. #2-Sammy IS honoring Eddie, that is why this tour is happening. Alex and Dave wouldn’t do it. Thank God Sammy put it together! #3-Eddie is dancing in Heaven with a grin on his face, a Heineken in one hand, and a smoke in the other. Digging everything he’s seeing and hearing. This is nothing but love and respect for Eddie here. #4- PEACE!!!!
And we aren’t getting what Sammy was promising - a deep dive into the VH catalogue to honour the legacy. It’s just a Sammy & Friends tour with two or three Roth-era tunes tossed in. His contempt for Roth has so infested his ego that he can’t let it go and follow through with what he said this tour was going to be.
@@capnmo6718 Yep, have you seen the intro video they play at the start of the concert? It's all about him. I was a bit confused. Still not complaining, huge Van Hagar fan :)
For someone that talks so much crap about Roth's music,..writing,...voice,..persona,....not sure he got the right to do so many OG Van halen songs,.....I know Sammy's getting up there but all the vids ive seen,....not too impressed,...almost like he's drunk
I think the band isn't doing enough OG VH tunes, especially when he said this is a legacy tour honouring Eddie. Three Roth-era tunes, the era that launched the band and Eddie, on a supposed legacy tour is some serious backtracking - or lying. I agree though, Hagar doesn't sound good on most of the songs. He's old, sure, but that ongoing argument that Hagar still sounds great is no longer valid.
@@capnmo6718He's going to be 77 ....do you expect him to sound anything like he did back when he was in Montrose??? Sammy has had a better career than Diamond Dave who used to sound great live until Fair Warning...even then it was about the showmanship over the vocals. I am looking forward to seeing this show !!!
A lot of whinging DLR fans here. Sammy wrote the lyrics for 4 of their biggest selling albums and he’s the only member founding or not to go out and preform this music so for those who say he should be thankful of joining VH? They approached him after Dave had quit so don’t come with this thankful crap.
Your sayin that while "talk shit"Sammy's doing a Roth wrote song fool? All sammy does is put down Roth's writing & talk how great he is,...but he sure is doing alot of OG Van Halen for a Sammy Hagar tour,.....OG Van Halen was David lee Roth,..& Eddie & Alex ,....the bass player could of been any swingin dick
So great. EVH lives through the music.
My body is ready these shows to hit my town ♥️ Thanks for sharing!!!
You are gonna have a great time. I was just at the Tampa show. Smiles for miles.

Completely agree
Dave could have been part of something special. Instead he decided he was too special. To get back together with VH.

Damn, Joe got that damn signal dialed in just right
David Lee Roth & Alex Van Halen are puking at Hagar doing this great song an injustice.
Sounds awesome! Can't wait to see him August 20th in Phoenix!
This isn't Sammy Hagar solo. It's Chickenfoot.
I love all the arm chair comments. They sound great.

Sammy and the boys having a blast. Great job guys.
Thanks for making this happen!! Sounds really great
They should have called it Van Hagar. Then it wouldn’t matter that there is no “van halen” on stage!
Well, it's called Sammy Hagar, so it doesn't matter that there's no Van Halen on stage.
Joe is the only person I would want to see playing Ed’s parts.

Great stuff here .. I agree on the 5150 songs seems like they are tuff to get that Eddie rhythm but big respect to all
I love Van Halen!❤

The soul of Van Halen is Edward and Alex Van Halen period.
