Mike got screwed by VH. Nothing he could have done about it…so he did the next best thing- to stay with the band. Didn’t let his ego disrupt the dream he worked hard for. Regardless of whether or not you feel his musicianship was vital to VH or not (and I assert that it very much was), there’s no denying that he works hard, is highly consistent, more than capable, and nails the support role. Even if the fun of being a professional has tarnished, he’s still a legend, tough as nails, and is still living his dream. It takes a person with a lot of endurance to survive the business. It changes you as it changes. High five, Michael, and much respect.
“Even if the fun of being a professional has tarnished” I’m sure it has a little but he honestly looks like he’s having a genuine blast up there. Great to see for sure.
It's nice to finally hear Ain't Talkin' Bout Love played in the right tone and speed, Van Halen never once played it like it was on the album live, they always played it too fast, this is more like the original.
He was friends with guitar maker Wayne Charvel, who called Anthony one of other best musicians out there. Charvel even made mention of it in his autobiography.
Hot damn!!!! The way it should be sung always. I love Mike!!! Just a bad ass dude laying it down with an amazing voice. Perfecto!!!! Joe killing the lead!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Anyone who can authentically duplicate Eddie Van Halen’s guitar parts is an amazing guitar player. Glad to see Michael enjoying his life. Sammy and Jason are awesome.
Great vocals from MA there. Pleasantly surprised! He got shafted by VH, they said he was more or less an employee. My opinion he was an integral player in the rise of VH and a great entertainer.
Never realized that Michael was such a great vocalist until he left Van Halen. His vocals on Highway Star with Chickenfoot are nothing short of phenomenal.
It's about time they turned up the mikes on Jason's drums. Their first concert of this tour it wasn't that way. But also, the acoustics sound different in every venue. Thanks for posting your version. I hope you enjoyed the show!
Mikey looks like he’s having a blast! Wish I could attend one of these shows. Also love how Joe knows when to stay true to the source material and when to improv a bit.

Great vocals from Michael and a nod to Joe Satriani for kicking ass on Eddies parts while maintaining his signature style at the same time. Ashame the rest did not join the tour.
I was never really a gung-ho VH fan. Kinda preferred the music Sammy made vs. what Dave put out. And I never really appreciated Mikey until I really heard him sing in Chickenfoot. So I'm finally getting around to VH again and can't believe I didn't give them much love in their hey day. I am glad to see Mikey, Sammy, Joe and Jason out here still crushing it, though.
@@brianboudrot7055 Well, Mike A. is a bassist of course. Unfortunately, bassist's can generally take a back seat to lead singer's/shredding lead guitarist's. As a bassist though, Mike has mostly not taken that "band back seat" during his rockin' career. He is "out front there." One Class act for sure🤟🏻
Nicely said. Thank you.
Saw this show in ridgefield,wa.AWESOME SHOW🤟 EDDIE WHO? ALEX WHO??😆🤣
Mike’s vocals were the backbone of their live sound. It’s awesome seeing Joe giving Ed his due. His lead fill was 99.999% correct.
Joe satriani is overqualified for this job!
I saw them 3 or 4 times and always remember being shocked and impressed with Anthony’s vocal contributions.
Yup, I knew from early on MA was clearly instrumental with his vocals aside his work on the bass.
@@jdcsteelers498 More like overrated
The VH brothers never gave him enough credit. There's a reason he always stood by Sammy.
Michael Anthony is underrated fabulous voice and great talented on bass. I love it on stage !!!
Mike is the unsung hero from Van Halen. 70 years old and just as full of energy and full voice, as ever!!
It's nice to finally hear Ain't Talkin' Bout Love played in the right tone and speed, Van Halen never once played it like it was on the album live, they always played it too fast, this is more like the original.
Reckon Jason lays back the beat better than Alex on this one. Al was awesome but did play very fast live
MA did a great job, as always. I would say he gave DLR a run for his money.
I thought this guitarist is good. Didn’t know who it was til I saw him half way through! He should bring out some solo albums! 😁
😜🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Amen to that.
Michael Anthony is the Voice of Van Halen, have no doubt.
Michael Anthony could have been a lead singer.
I couldn't agree more
He seems so happy! I’ve seen VanHalen many times, and don’t remember him being this animated. Excellent song and job by all!
He was friends with guitar maker Wayne Charvel, who called Anthony one of other best musicians out there. Charvel even made mention of it in his autobiography.
He was an important part of van halens sound
He was a lead singer before he joined Van Halen
What a voice! Best background vocals in rock!
Most under rated Vocals/Bass player. He is now more of an equal in the present setup. He came into his own in the Chickenfoot era.
Eddie Van Halen claimed that he had to carry Michael Anthony on his back. I call bullshit on that.
Hot damn!!!! The way it should be sung always. I love Mike!!! Just a bad ass dude laying it down with an amazing voice. Perfecto!!!! Joe killing the lead!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Michael Anthony's 50th Anniversary as a member of Van Halen....he joined in 1974....!!
Bass player and backbone to the greatest band ever
That would be the who or led zepplin
How awesome is Joe’s VH tone👍👍👍👍
Hehehe...really? Time to have those ears checked, dude !
@@rockhead69 Right??
I didn't know he could sing both his own and Roth's parts so well. Thanks for posting.
No disrespect to the Van Halen brothers, but they didn't let him shine like Sammy does. Exposing his talents.
Sitting in utah loving this.. Mr. ANTHONY is the man.. glad he got some dues

You’re right. It’s effortless at age 70! Him and Sammy together make me happy!!
Awesome Michael Anthony!!!
in my opinion, Michael was a vital part of Van Halen, with his Bass parts and his incredible background vocal performance.
Absolutely and still is. The friendship between him and Sammy is so special too.
Wow! What an enlightened, original take! Just my opinion.

He never really went away I don't think. Remember Chickenfoot?
Enfin reconnu à sa juste valeur ❤Sure he could be a lead singer and make solo records❤
Brings chills seeing the blood W.D.F.A bass again. For a short time I’m back in 1982’. Absolutely fantastic. Cookin!

Dude has pipes
At least Sammy gives him credit where credit is due. Michael is amazing good talent all the way around.
Davi Lee Roth said the band could've found a bass player but Michael's vocals on background was critical to the music. The guy was a duo threat.
MA was such an important part of the band...those early records wouldn't be the same without him. This is great...
why only the early ones?
That scream!!!
Mikey looks like he’s having a blast! Wish I could attend one of these shows.

Joe truly made the great show even better.
The satch is the only real talent in that band
I think he improvs when he can't play the part 😂😂😂
Glad to see Michael get his. Glad to see him having fun doing it.
That's a GREAT band right there.
Love this! Mike Rules!!!
VH records would not have been the same without MA. His back vocals are so distinctive that they were part of making the sound of VH.
I’ll bet that’s a hell of a show.
Keep on pumpin' out the rock Mikey!!🤘
Mikey likes it and so do we, He still sounds like he just recorded his vocal tracks for the first album.

With vocals like that -- who needs Roth. David can't even sing like that anymore. Go Michael!

Love MA so much! An American treasure.
Michael does a better DLR than DLR.

Probably Van Halens best song. This song brings me back to high school
Thanks Mike.
Mike is UNDERRATED AF
Who says he is underrated?
@@ttbjammn hes trying to get likes lol MA is an animal and everyone knows it
Maybe underexposed is a better word. He's not a showman like DLR was when his videos were on MTV. MTV cared more about visuals than vocal ability.

The “Bloody Guitar”
Very good
Best track the boys have done that I've seen so far. Got tix for July 27th show in Holmdel, NJ.
