It’s the closest you’ll ever get to Van halen again and considering their age Mike , Sammy and joe are doing a fantastic job. Sounds better than what Roth did in 84

As much as I respect Satch and Jason for doing this (you can tell how committed they are, sounds really good) if you remove the "Halen" from Van Halen... all you get is a glorified cover band. It's particularly hard for Satch... Eddie IS the sound of VH, no one can touch that. Maybe that YT kid, Jacob Deraps, but there's no way they'd pick an unknown guitarists for this gig.

Mike A is a great world class back up singer whose falsetto voice and range especially when he was younger were amazing. The only way that Mike would be able to sing lead vocals on a DLR song better than Sammy is if the tune was a better fit for Michael's current range vs Sammy's current range. It is clear that you have some major angst and bitterness towards Sammy. Well here are some facts for you. Sammy didn't need Van Halen to have a successful music career. DLR did. Sammy is very wealthy now. Unlike DLR, AVH and EVH Sammy is a legit businessman and he is also a big league philanthropist. Sammy does not need to do this tour for the money. He is doing this for the fans and or the music while he still can. Sammy called out the VH camp for the dysfunctional BS as did EHV's own son WVH. Lasty, both Don Landee and Ted Templeman have gone on the record stating that Hagar as a singer is far superior to DLR in every objective measure. Moreover, Cherone has gone on record stating that Hagar's material is far harder to sing than DLR's material. Hagar was going to be the original singer for VH because Templeman was going to ditch Roth due to his ego and lack of vocal talent before VH released their first record. In the end Templeman decided that having a vaudeville entertainer front man who was a mediocre singer was a better fit for VH at that time of their career and the rest is history Sammy has NEVER been jealous of DLR in any way shape or form. Sammy has no reason to be jealous of DLR. Hagar is out on tour and can still sing although not at top form. DLR is not on tour and could not draw flies on tour now given how poorly he sings. DLR stunk it up so bad on the last VH tour that fans were complaining, and if VH went out on tour again, EVH knew that he would have to get Hagar or Cherone back to pull it off because DLR did not have it any more
Hagar sounds limp and uninspired. So much for doing it for the fans - and for Eddie. 'I didn't write this one', he says. We know. But Eddie wrote the music, so if this tour is supposed to be in part to honour Eddie, get over the fact that Roth lives in your head rent free, and just sing the song for Eddie and the fans. I prefer the original Van Halen but I also really like Van Hagar, but Hagar is just a putz on this tour so far. He either lied or backtracked about this being partly a VH legacy tour.
Of all the videos of this concert I’ve seen, this is by far the worse. The others have been awesome. This sounds so half hearted. Sammy sang this song in VH the times I saw them and he did great. This, not so much.
