This will be a great move Triumph, 👍
A lot of us have been clamoring for these bikes (affordable, lighter weight, smaller displacement yet capable for dual purpose riding) for a few years now.
It’s great that Triumph stepped up to the plate.
    The Scrambler for me please.

Your right it a great move by triumph, there a lot of us that don’t want a bike with 90 plus horsepower that most off us can’t use off road anyway . I am almost 60 years off age and looking for smaller n lighter bike to do some gravel roads , I don’t think this bike will be just for new riders some older riders are looking at these new bikes from triumph

@@markpearson2085 66 years of age and retiring in 10 weeks time. I haven't had a bike since my one and only 125 which I bought new in 1976, for the princely sum of £400!
I've been obsessing for the last three years now and really, really wanted to own a Triumph - hence my earlier comment about a 125cc. I reckon this new range makes it a little more realistically reachable. I mustn't was fussed about having to go for the A2 licence.

I think the price and specs are spectacular and should bring down RE from its complacent rule of the Indian market in the 20+bhp segment. 40 bhp at 400cc and only 179 kg--this is how you do it!

I'm thinking about one of these Trumpets next year, to own in addition to my RE Hunter and HD Dyna Glide. Keen to see more details (especially road tests from favourite YTers) but I'm pretty sure the two will be massively dissimilar characteristically... the hunter is very low key and very low revving, ridiculously simple to maintain and easy to live with. This Triumph will be high-revving, probably a bit manic, and far more mechanically complex. And, for that reason, a lot more demanding I expect.

Best of luck to Triumph and their link up with Bajaj, these bikesare attractive Triumph products and am sure they will be popular in the Indian market which is a huge area of growth for Triumph.
I think many women riders will be attracted to these bikes as well as novices entering the market for the first time and older men moving down from bigger bikes. And with current bikes now approaching the high teens of thousands I hope they will be priced at a point which is sensible and where they do not draw sales away from their excellent Trident range.

Tuned up 400 and 450cc versions of this engine will be world beating because like for like it will smash the competition. These bikes are just paying for the development costs. I will for sure buy the enduro when it comes.

In 2024, a TFT should be standard, in my opinion, and their competitors have upgraded to them, so not sure why Triumph thought it smart to stick with LCD. (aesthetics?) It dates the bike, a bit.

Nice little bike but Triumph's collaboration with Bajaj is not just about profit it's also forcing them to admit that their weekend attitude doesn't work in the real world with customers as they have serious issues with production. For example, why there is a 6 month wait on plastic accessories and what's being done to resolve that? Because if we're to expect Triumph's current production runs, customers will be waiting a very long time to get that "weekend Triumph experience" with these bikes, and only time will tell if they keep true to their word.

The spec sheet in Triumph India's website has the weights of both the models significantly higher.
The speed being 178 Kg and Scrambler being 186 Kg, I wonder why is that? A Saree guard and extended, long Mud Guard ( won't add 8Kg of extra weight!? Did they cut down on refinement? Let's wait for July 5th.

if the pricing math is done right, this bike will be a huge success in India.
We surely want a good quality bike with a great fit and finish.
royal Enfield is currently dominating this segment here in India but we Indians want to see more competition here since RE has become too common and their fit and finish levels are not up to the mark.
The only reason they sell well is that they have the story and legacy here. their sales & service network in almost every tier 2 city of India. which is a big thing for a huge country like India
I genuinely want the triumph-bajaj partnership to win here because it is high time we get good global-level products in India. RE monopoly is not good for customers.

In case of Royal Enfield their sales and service is not limited to Tier 1 & Tier 2 cities. Even in villages. I am from Kerala. While traveling on the highway here, you will often see showrooms with their name boards on the roadside.

If they want to COMPLETE the Triumph range, enter the real entry market, the 125cc.
Or, would it be possible to restrict the 400cc down to a 125cc licence like the Trident can be restricted down to A2?

    • @chrishart8548

You can't restrict a bike in cc you can restrict in horsepower.

I believe the ktm 125 200 and 390 had the same bottom end for the engine. But they were never restricted down. Changing all those engine parts would never be practical.

Yeah I really don't understand the guy's comment when he said about smaller capacity bikes than 400cc "that's not really where triumph want to be." So what they're saying is, they DON'T want to sell 125s which is the single biggest bike market everywhere? Lmao. Either Triumph can't swallow their pride enough to follow the market trends and really offer something for everyone, or it's 100% in the works but they don't want to say anything yet. If it's not the latter, Triumph are genuinely morons. Why would you NOT want to sell more bikes and show the Chinese brands how to make a 125 properly?
