    I can see Triumph selling loads of these 400 singles. It looks like a decent little bike at a great price point and to be honest it would make a great second bike for commuting or winter riding.

      I dno about commuting with all the bare metal exposed, roads are so salty and it will just look awful, cant beat a scooter for commuting, no chain that needs constantly cleaning after one ride in the salty rain, and take pressure washer to it and its pretty clean in 10 mins lol

      I have this bike in India and yes, that’s bit of a problem. I fact, was the first thing I pointed to the sales guy.
      Another concern is a relatively small fuel tank which can be a concern if planning longer rides.

    • @Alex_mkII

      You don't even need a tach on such a low strung single, so I'd rather have the larger speedo.

      LCD shouldnt even be a thing on bikes. It is complete shit. You have to stare at it and adjust your focus to read it, and in the sun you can hardly see it at all. Anything that makes you look away from the road is crap. You dont need to look directly at clocks. I hate LCD with such passion that I will never buy a bike that doesnt have clocks. Which sort of narrows it down lately.

    Great to see that it has cast wheels instead of spokes, also great to see that it has a half decent front mudguard. I'd buy the Scrambler not because I want to go off road, but because I'm 6'2" tall. Well done Triumph.

  • @janeg4706
    @janeg4706 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

    Cast wheels and tubeless tyres - excellent! I wish Triumph would fit tubeless tyres on the T100 and Scrambler 900 - with or without the spokes . Lacing spokes for tubeless tyres would add cost to the Scrambler 400, which is clearly 'price sensitive'..... but they would be more cost effective on the 900.

      @@Englishbikerdan the Triumph accessories I like are the small windscreen, center tank pad, luggage rack, and the high mud guard.
      Not sure if upgraded seat is worth the expense, but it does look sharp.
      I want both the upper and lower engine bars. Still not sure if the upper one comes with the bike. The reviews from India say that it does. I still can’t get a straight answer on that.
      I also like the bullet style turn lights. Again not sure it’s worth the add on price.
      Luggage has been a big thought and I believe the Mosko Moto Reckless 80 will solve all my needs with a Triumph specific Cruz Tools kit in the Fatty Tool Roll.
      For Navigation I will be using the REVER App with my IPhone on a Quad lock mount.

    I so wanted to like this bike but after a test ride yesterday I think I'm going to ask for my deposit back. It looks great, the engine is punchy for a 400 single but i just didn't like the front end. The suspension felt overly firm to the point of being uncomfortable on Britain's broken roads and it felt slightly heavy steering as though an oversized front tyre was fitted. I found the throttle sensitive just off idle but that's all too common on todays bikes desperately trying to hit emission targets. Ultimately the bike felt as though development was only 90% complete and it had a slight unfinished, rough feel to it. Next one for to try will be the new Himalayan, perhaps that's going to be my next bike.

      or the RE Scram 452 but RE are going to have to put it on a diet to compete on weight with either in your shortlist. Scram 411s only a few kg lighter than Himmy 411 so it might still be lardy compared to the 400x or the Huskie 401 when it finally arrives. Adjustable suspension on the '24 svartpilen might swing for me [i like my 390 adv suspenders even if the looks leave me cold]. Test rides will tell. Some 400x reviews claim harsh suspension and heavy handling, some the opposite so i guess I need to book a day out of work for back to back demo rides to make my own opinion when its dryer/warmer. oh the sacrifices we all make 😊

      agree. kinda. depends on what type of offroad you do and where. Most offroad bikers prefer lower down pull and lower wet weight over everything else. The 400x seems to win on those counts based on Indian reviews but I cant validate that myself. I will try both. The RE has a bigger front wheel and i think more travel neither really make much difference for my type of mild green laning [grass, mud and tractor ruts. If you want a faired ADV or need to traverse rocks the Himmy is gonna have an advantage. Personally, I would take the lightest bike that was a best fit for where i will [if honest to myself] will spend most time (potholed B roads, back lanes and the occaisional BoAT twin track when curious/lost). oh and tubless tyres. too old to faff around with tubes miles from anywhere.

      It’s going to be a hell of a lot less than those bikes. This is a street bike and tuned for it. The 300L and Dar650 are off road bikes that are shoe horned into street duty. The KTM is just the Duke which is a street bike, but KTM makes and tunes everything to run at extremely high revs in order to get the power so when in such a light small frame you feel it.

      I had the Honda for 3 years and if she had more torque and also 40 hp I would never have sold her. It's the most nimble bike, pretty much a 125 with a big engine, great for town use. I sat today on the speed, and it felt like the little fat cousin, but have to ride her first to get to a conclusion.

    It looks good, but I am not a Triumph fan even though they are English. Despite being a patriotic type, I'd rather have a Fantic Caballero Scrambler 500 [449cc]. It also looks better than this Triumph to me.
    I'm keeping my KTM 390 Duke Mk 2. Lighter than the Triumph. Superb handler. It's my second bike in Chiang Rai behind my Yamaha SCR950. Although, I use my Yamaha Aerox 155 twist and go on a daily basis.
    Good review, Dan. Nick

    I'm not sure if the service intervals are a bit of a smoke screen thing, given I personally would not be leaving the oil in for a year or if you are riding a shed load and get to the 10,000 miles in less than a year, say 9 months, same applies, would you really trust it for that length of time or milage, OK fully synthetic oil might be OK but I feel most owners would change it and the filter at no more than 5,000 😉

    • @jakeviolet2195

      I'd do it every 3,500 just like a car, regardless of what the manual says. Probably gonna wanna clean the air filter and lube/adjust the chain at least that often, so might as well do oil and filter at the same time.

      It's to maintain the road clearance. Giving a centre stand will eat into it which wouldn't make it much of a scrambler on Indian roads with speed breakers.
      They might offer it as an accessory.

    • @Geshmaal
      @Geshmaal 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Sahu6492 most adventure bikes and many scramblers (including other Triumph Ccramblers) have a centre stand option - this doesn't seem to. The Scrambler 400X has less ground clearance than a Himalayan 411 or 452 - the Himis come with a centre stand.

    • @jakeviolet2195
      @jakeviolet2195 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Personally, I dont get the appeal of centerstands. They make sense on a long distance tourer or adventure bike where you expect to be doing a lot of maintenance on the side of the road. But on a low maintenance, lightweight bike like this I don't see the point? When you're out and about the kickstand works fine and when you're at home doing maintenance twice a year, you can just use a bike stand in your garage.
