Scarlet and Violet Leaks are BAD for Pokemon

Leaks are rampant within the pokemon community, perhaps more so than anywhere else. With such little information coming out in the form of official trailers and news from Gamefreak of Nintendo, is it anyone people have taken to twitter to find other sources? I think this is actually hurting the franchise, peoples expectations and ultimately your experience of the final game. How does this release cycle compare to previous ones, where we saw an entire pokedex, regional forms, the new gimmick and even an entire game leaked?

I feel this. I feel like it’s gone too far, and am officially avoiding any leaked stuff about SV. One thing I REALLY don’t want, is to get the Pokédex completely spoiled. I remember trying to look up what the starter final evolutions were, before I started Arceus to help me choose, and I was just bombarded with images of ALL hisuian forms, in the way of a single white image with all their pngs on them. I was very annoyed, and even though I clicked off it as fast as I could, and tried to enjoy their reveals in the game, there was a little twinge of sadness to it all. . At least I’ve settled on Sprigatito 100% and will try my best to ONLY see its evolved forms in the game itself lol. :’)
Also, it’s just really annoying for theorising and people do get all up in your face if they think they know a leak related to your talking points. Like I REALLY want there to be a new Eeveelution in this gen, and am keeping close tabs on the anime to see what happens with Cloe’s Eevee but [Potential Spoilers] leakers keep saying it’s not gonna happen, and people keep regurgitating it. Which is just annoying. Anyway. On August 5th, Cloe’s Eevee is either going to evolve or be revealed to have a GMax factor or something, so at least this will all be laid to some kind of rest in a week. :P
I really hope that the being no new eeveelution leak is wrong because Eevee is my favorite Pokemon and I want it to get more evolutions.
Interesting detail in Pokemon journeys in on episode Goh saids that that Eevee can evolve into 8 different evolutions "So far" I wonder if the so far part is a hint or I could be looking into this to much, I hope this is a hint for gen 9.
It's simple supply and demand, the Pokémon went from too many trailers to nothing at all, so there is a void to be filled and it is being taken over by the leak community
Maybe. But is it possible that given this game is a new step for pokemon into open world that they actually wanted a lot of the game to be a surprise and discoverable by the players?
@@CaptainFidget I mean this is a game we are talking about, I want to know what to expect, not spend my money and then be surprised
honestly I wish I was close to the pokemon company and could report these leakers because it's just wrong like not even just from my own POV it's literally breaking the rules that you have to agree to if you're a beta tester of a game you have to keep everything to yourself yet these people are giving the information to other people to leak on the internet or people leaking the information on the internet themselves it's just not fair on anyone who wants to be suprised for the games or the people working hard on the games themselves
I'd love to know the sources these leakers use, but that'll never happen unless nintendo brings a public lawsuit against them

I was thinking about making a similar video, but you said it all. I would be heavier on creators that spend a whole game's release cycle posting "potential leaks" and all that and build expectations that, 99% of the time, will not be met since fanfic is not the same as leaks, but I'm just clearly a more angry person than you 😅 I just hope that the mess that this whole cycle was will lead to harsher punishment and tighter security measures.
It's less to do with not being angry as much as it is just not wanting to call anyone out and start TH-cam drama

I tend to avoid leaks not so much for the reasons you have given here which I do agree with as well, but more because if for example someone posted a "leak" of fuecoco's final Evo and I really liked it but then when the game released it was fake even if I liked the real one it would still be disappointing, but this also works the other way at the moment I intend to use fuecoco on my first play through but then if the final Evo "leaked" and I didn't like it I might decide to use one of the others just to discover it was fake and I really like the actual Pokémon and wish it had been my first starter of this game
That's completely fair. And, it's one of the main problems with leaks. No matter how credible they are, nothing is ever for certain until its official
@@CaptainFidget I think as well the problem comes with detailed leaks, for example I'm pretty certain multiple people said that SW and SH was going to contain a corgy Pokémon and we obviously got yamper, now a lot of people also speculated on this due to the queen having several corgies, however they didn't leak specifics, didn't say it was electric type, didn't reveal its lore or evolution, I think leaks like that are fun because there honestly not detailed enough to effect anyone's eventual enjoyment of the game but still give people something to discuss and speculate on, btw I'm aware yamper did eventually leak due to the Nintendo tree house event at e3 that year but it still works as an example
For PLA and SV there's been a leaker on Twitter making riddles about the game, and confirming very little. Even he got mad when another leaker came and just "spoonfed" everyone by just straight up posting photos just weeks before the third trailer. The riddler was just vague enough that nothing really made much sense and meant a lot of things were still in theory territory, whilst still being clearly legit when the trailer came out showing Fidough after his photoshop of Doge onto some sliced bread.
1:32 I understand this statement but there was one event that could (and leakers speculated that it was really a case) moved or postponed trailers or information about not only pokemon games but games from japan - assasination of Japan's ex leader Shinzo Abe. Japan as a quite conservative country really took this event as national mourning and so many companies could simply adapt to this unplanned moments
That was indeed a tragic event and it wouldn't surprise me if some information or trailer did get shifted due to it. But, though the next 'trailer' we got was simply a release of the theme and plushie designs so I don't think it shifted things too much
I remember when I played these games without knowing a single pokemon on each gen. The discovering was wonderful. Picking a starter just because, and being surprised by its evolutions... fighting a trainer with the cool evolution of a mon you thought wasn't too interesting and then running back to find it... I miss those days.
I definitely agree that leaks are really really bad and there amount these days are way to many. So yeah hope someday in the future there's a world without leaks and shops that sell copies early. What a great world that would be.
I have seen some of the leaks and I’m ok with some leaks. These leaks have been mostly text and little pics so it has my hyped more because with the text I’m imagining how they look vs the dex leak which pic was out.
I myself haven't seen a leak and I don't go out looking for them, but with that being said I just don't get the point of leaking and spoiling things for people, your not getting anything out of it.
The only leaks I want is the final evos for the starter Pokémon I'll make my decision on what I pick based on that
I get that. But the final evos were kept a surprise in Legends Arceus and I found that a really fun experience to discover them for myself

Maybe it's just me but I would rather have GF and the Pokemon Company spend less time and money calculating how much info to leak to consumers and more time thinking through actually important stuff like forcing exp share at rates so ridiculous the game may as well become a VN. The leaker that revealed exp share being forced in BDSP saved me 60 bucks, dear god that shit ruined the game. Maybe if GF had listened to the feedback/uproar the leaks caused and done something about it may have turned BDSP from a flop to an actual gem for the franchise.

There were massive amounts leaked over the last couple weeks, to the point where even those who follow leaks closely and analyse them found it to be too much

I like this video. As a trainer since red and blue, the most disappointing thing to hear in a youtubers vid is "leak confirmed" from a text dump in place of genuine excitement from something they didn't know. Such a drag
I don't know about everyone else but I'm starving for literally any new information about Scarlet and Violet to be officially revealed. I can't remember a time where The Pokemon Company was silent for this long.

I agree some leaks are bad like the play through and Pokédex leaks or pics. But some of the texts are ok to a point because my mind are running wild and make me right now super hyped for the games.
I do it just like I've always done. No spoilers and no looking for leaks. People are jerks and will post on TH-cam that so and so has a new evolution or something. It sucks.
It so annoying when that happens one day I was checking if there was new Pokemon legends Arceus news and I got spoiled for some new Pokemon and forms for the game.
I would disagree because these leaks actually build up a ton of hype for the game. If I was just looking at the three trailers Pokemon put out for SV, I definitely wouldn't be getting the game. But now that there's all these rumours and mysteries teased about the content of the game, it's so much more appealing to me and I can't wait to play it.
If TPC was better with creating consistent trailers with a solid stream of interesting information about the game, then it'd be enough to make me avoid the leaks. But since they don't seem to know how to do that (as proven by these past 3 gens), I'm gonna go to leaks to get excited

So as long I just watch leaks with texts I be ok but once the game or pics get leaks then I stop because I want to see them when I play.
Leaks for Pokemon tend to go out of control especially lately considering how much they tend to I want to have a blind playthrough of Pokemon Scarlett and Violet but I would have to avoid leaks but its getting harder and I do know 100% of them are fake.
I will likely never have a blind playthrough of a pokemon game ever again, but boy do I want one. Its such a different experience
when i get games early i just enjoy it quietly in my home and dont spoil because im not a piece of shit lol
The problem isn't so much the spoilers so much as the fact a pokemon released generations ago could now be a spoiler.
I stay away from story spoilers, but I love seeing the pokedex before hand so I can pick my starter and the rest of my team, it's never diminished my excitement. Also version exclusives always determine which version I pick up.
i avoid any pokemon game i plan to get like the plauge i refuse to even look at anything related to it plus all i really watch is shiny hunting so i dont get many other poke videos
The only leaks I like are the ones from riddle khu because he made's them riddles that people have to try to solve other than him every other leaker can disappear forever for all I care.
I look at it this way: leaks are fine for people that're actively looking for them but becomes a problem when you're actively megaphoning them to others that don't want them. As a Veteran trainer, that sense of wonder and excitement for the unknown disappeared a long time ago due to more often than not being more disappointed than satisfied and isn't why I continue with the franchise. I want to be informed if the game offers more than new Pokemon and yet another throwaway gimmick because if that's all it does, I don't buy it like I did with Sw/Sh especially since GF lied about the reason why they cut Pokemon out.
Maybe it's just me that gets hyped about leaks, but only the criptic puzzle like ones, i like trying to solve them and if i ever get one right(which hasn't happened yet 😓)i'm like a kid at Christmas xD

It's just expected that the entire game will be leaked if not available for download weeks before release now
But after Sun and Moon with SwSh, we went from weekly trailers to monthly trailers, and at least SwSh’s trailers have given us enough to know the identity of SwSh. I’m not asking for frequent trailers, I just want to know the reason why I should buy Scarlet and Violet when all we know is that it has a more boring overworld compared to competitors and has a very fishy and risky online system being marketed. And seeing as how terrible Pokemon’s online track record is, there is no reason why we should trust it to be good. That is literally ALL we know about the game. Past and future as a theme is just speculation based on designs. We don’t know the gimmick, hardly any characters other than the rather underwhelming ones design-wise we have gotten so far along with a new artstyle that most people dislike, and only 3 non-legendary Pokémon that look pretty generic with one literally just being a pig when with SwSh’s marketing, we had at least 1 evolution and one large Pokémon revealed by that point. All we have are 3 early-route Pokémon and the go art legendaries and STILL no map. Why are they hiding the map and name of the region from us like it’s a spoiler? We should at least know the country that we’re exploring, and it is getting very frustrating for many fans to just refer to it as “the Spanish region” or “the Iberian Region” or “gen 9 region”. The trailer drop is inconsistent, and we have yet to receive anything substantial about the game that would compel us to buy it for the past 5 months other than a memes pig and pornography of the professors and an underaged assistant. That’s all we got, folks.
To be fair, they had my money the moment they announced a new mainline game. But, I can understand wanting some more information before making a purchase and your frustration at the lack of it from official sources is understandable. But, you can't honestly suggest that you'd make a purchase decision based on unsubstantiated leaks?
I legitimately feel like these are planned leaks by GF but otherwise agree that that's not a good thing.
I agree that some leaks can be and are planned by companies to stir up discussion. But the sheer amount coming out for Scarlet and Violet without any official information to back any of it up makes it seem unlikely that this is the case to me
