*Just to be clear this video is not to point fingers at any one group in particular. We all add to the craze, myself included. However I have to say scalpers who are buying out all the preorders for the newest sets and products and immediately listing them for 3-4x price is a huge problem. The simple fact is whether you are a collector, investor, content creator, rip and shipper, player, ect the supply is just not enough to meet all demand right now. I wanted to make this video in hopes that it would help get the word out that Pokemon really needs to up their printing capacity so that average collectors and players can get the packs and cards in their hands and not have to pay 3-4x msrp. it’s a huge problem for the hobby and if left like this for long enough could be a disaster for the tcg as a whole.* *Also I will be also be doing a big Prismatic Evolutions pack stream where I'll be offering the packs for normal msrp to subscribers. Unfortunately allocations for this set were cut significantly but I will stock as many as I possibly can for you guys. Thank you all for being apart of this community*
Thanks for putting this video out there, i just got into this hobby like 3 months ago and feel sad that I have to now stop immediately because I am only 18 and can’t afford to maintain it.
The tougher pill to swallow tends to be that pokemon TH-camrs and influencers DO contribute to anti-consumer crazes like this. And how we frame our content can do a LOT to change things in the community. When all content is about money, that affects things in the real world.
Thanks for chiming in on this, I totally agree and that's why you're one of my favourite creators in the space. When every card shown in thousands of videos displays a price with the card, like you say, it's really no wonder that it gets to be about money and that people who get wind of this and join the space because of it don't exactly believe in the heart of the cards.
TH-camrs contribute zero percent to the craze. They've been doing this for a decade now and it's all about the supply side on Pokemon Co.'s part. There was a massive boom in 2016 during the 25th anniversary that brought 100 million people back into the hobby who grew up with Pokemon, and since then there have been huge booms and busts where in 2017-2019 and again in 2023-2024, cards were on clearance everywhere for 40-50% off. This new Eeveelution set with master ball holos is so similar to Evolving Skies/151, and that combined with singles and other product hitting absolute rock bottom prices for a 1 year plus is what really started this craze, and also the fact that crypto, stocks and real estate have been stagnant and dropping with no real returns lately with more signs ahead that all of those 3 things will crash. A youtuber's videos cannot generate hype, they just cover the current state of the market.
If you choose to keep something sealed, sure, go for it. But if you wipe out the entire stock and resell for 2-3x the price because no one can find them, I have no respect for you.
You are literally live right now opening a bunch of boosters of the prismatic packs and not even looking at the cards. Just skimming through packs until you pull cards worth money. Not even appreciating the cards.
He’s upset other people are cutting into his hustle. He wanted to be the only one ripping people off in breaks and selling a bunch of cardboard for inflated prices
Nah. He’s not reselling new sets for 2-3X the value at release. I see what he’s saying. He’s unknowingly (most TH-camrs are) since they show the value of every card opened. But there’s people that don’t give a shit about Pokémon that are hoarding booster boxes at release just to sell them at 3X the price while they’re hard to find.
I’m done collecting until the hype goes away. It’s not even fun anymore. My fun was going to the store finding packs/boxes and going home and ripping packs. Now people are buying entire stocks just to hoard them for profit.
Exactly this. And while we’re at it, why doesnt Rev sell some of his sealed product considering he has way more than the average consumer? Or is it the lowly collector who has to front the bill so people like Rev can continually make more money on unrealistic products. 🤔🤔
@@deeeznuttttzz299 love how leonhart drops he’s selling etbs for msrp without even posting an opening then this clown decides imma do that after opening upwards of 300 packs before release 🤦♂️
Well dude , you tie every pack you open with money. Every card you pull is valued based on its cost… so what do you expected?? You’re part of the problem.
That's a bit unfair. The chance of pulling rare cards is what's exciting and what makes people want to open packs or watch people open packs. Any rarity means value if that item is in demand.
Yeah specially when pokerev lists psa 10 prices on his video instead of raw prices, it’s been a thing for a while where people joke a regular v card is worth like 50 cus pokerev said it in his videos
Such a goofy video too such a non argument. This is just straight click bait. demand is high so that’s bad for the hobby..? How exactly? Oh and I am gonna complain about scalpers/people buying and reselling packs even though that’s EXACTLY what I do!! LOL? What a horrible video
Rev, I love ya , but YOU are one of the progenitors of this problem. It’s clear you open packs purely for the money. And while it’s now your livelihood, you have enable this issue with constantly increasing the hype around these products. You can’t complain about this issue when you opened the can of worms.
@@OnzureHe hypes the product by saying how much each big pull is worth but is worried about how prices are a problem🤔? If it’s not about how much something is worth and he is in it for the passion and love of the hobby why do this? Scalping is a thing in EVERY hobby. That’s capitalism, if it’s something people want to be a part of really badly they just have to find ways they can pay to play.
He never played the game just buys it all up in his area and resells to scam people like people buying all the tickets at a music concert then reselling for profit to anyone that wants to see it.
To be frank content creators like yourself play a big part in this because yall concentrate on the value of the cards, and othe said sealed product sell the idea of cards as investments. Also as the value of the dollar decreases, investing in physical products that are limited in supply makes the problem even worse.
I agree with this completely. There is an element of content creators, like Rev, reaping what they sow with the current state of the hobby. I like Rev and a load of other Pokemon content creators like him. That being said, I do find it a bit disingenuous for him to, on the one hand, take all the benefits of the boom in the Pokemon hobby (like an increasing number of views on TH-cam and increasing number of people buying his mystery packs etc.) while on the other hand complaining about the boom in the hobby because it’s making it difficult for him (and for all collectors) to get a hold of new products. He’s partly responsible for causing this. I also don’t think it’s nearly as serious as he is making it out to be. There are still affordable Pokemon products available. Prismatic is ridiculous so have a look at getting some Terastal Festival. Journey Together pre-orders were a shambles but you can still get a hold of Stellar Crown and a few other SV sets at a decent price. Surging Sparks has been really popular but a reprint is expected in the next few weeks so keep an eye out for that as the price should drop (at least for a short term). In the longer term, this growth in the market will subside, either because some people fall away from the hobby and demand drops, or Pokemon increases supply to meet the increased demand. I think it will likely be a bit of both and it could take 6 month / 12 months / 18 months or longer. The point being, it will reset at some point.
I strongly disagree. The biggest part of this problem, are the people willing to pay $150-200 for an etb. As long as people keep buying from resellers, we will continue to have this problem. I never buy from resellers, only from stores.
@@jayzuniga2338 the only thing I see people missing out on these days, it the opportunity to make money. The ones you see fighting eachother over cases opon cases of are greedy bastards. They are not collectors. That is what I see. It's the same thing you see on black friday, nobody needs 10 flat screen tvs. And nobody needs 50 colletion boxes. It all ends up on ebay for 3 times the price they paid 10 min earlier 🤷♂️
One solution: Stop buying from Scalpers, Second Hand sellers and Greedy Shops. Protest using your wallet. And in time prices will dip. But the fact people don’t care and still will be idiots and buy these outrageous prices is beyond me.
100% agree. Obviously the problem is scalpers and 3rd party sellers but when local shops decide to increase prices to compete with these online sellers everything goes to shit. the damage is already done and this world we live in today profits heavily off nostalgia. IMO its one of the big reasons why pokemon has had such a big boom this past decade
I’m laughing listening to this after watching you open 200+ packs of prismatic, which is probably way more than the average Pokemon “investor” can afford each month.
he gives away most of what he opens.. idk if you’re new here but you can tell he actually enjoys the hobby. I get what you’re saying, but as someone who’s been collecting consistently, I would not put him the same category as scalpers.
In this situation, it doesn’t help with what he does, but it really hurts when u go see his buddy and his back drop is nothing but sealed cases and basically flaunts it. Yes he doesn’t sell em, or as far as I know he doesn’t on whatnot or where ever, but it’s the fact ppl see that and are like hey I can too. When some just doesn’t have a pot to pee in.
Seriously. I’ve watched Rev and others for years… but they’ve definitely contributed to the problem. And there’s THOUSANDS of other wannabe Revs out there on YT, TikTok, Whatnot…
More like if the hobby becomes so exclusive its for rich people only then all content creation is over because no one will want to watch and no one will share the hype or enjoyment.
@@foxyou3716he admits that hes contributing to the problem. Whats an even bigger issue here is the obvious and devious scalpers thinking what there doing is totally fine. The delusion
Why is it ok for you to have done sealed product and buy packs to resell but not for others? You should run for a government position with this only for thee not for me mentality.
ones a business that buys from the distributor , the ones raiding costco are not businesses or the self-employed professionals , they are chancers/scalpers. pokemon company are printing so much its just feeding scalpers who if allowed to buy up all the Retail stock control the markets thats why prices go up , not due to supply but Controlling the market. Retailers need to fight back and not allow Non-businesses/non-self employed from bulk buying for the sole intention of reselling. 1x etb , 1x sealed booster box x 1x gift edition box per customer (if you want more go elsewhere or come back tommorow) retailers need to control the flow of product so Markets are not Manipulated to the point prices Inflate. don't buy from NON-Professionals or people that don't have distribution licenses including youtubers who do not have Distribution agreements for their Rip & ships. ( if they don't have a distribution agreement , they are not a above board business and are clearly buying up Retail goods to rip & ship to resell at 100% mark ups to cover their costs.)
“The hobby is in trouble.” - Has videos that focus on money and ripping packs like gambling challenges. -Sells special packs that are like loot boxes in pouches in an online shop. Card profit focused TH-camrs have created this monster. To deny this and save face is amusing.
@ValiantTrainer well the mystery packs are chances to get old packs that should be worth something. What he's talking about is that it we shouldn't have to pay 3 times MSRP for something that just came out a week ago
@@GlaceEXandAllybut that makes him a reseller. He has to mass purchase packs to resell to get “a chance” at an older back. It’s become a gamble and is a stock market scenario.
@@GlaceEXandAlly so why are the mystery packs filled with modern? How much are they now70+? I vintage pack 1:25. Pretty good profit off battle styles and silver tempest.
You’re right about this. Rev might not want to hear it but it’s actually lame how he’s complaining when he’s making thousands of dollars off this and low-level Pokémon enjoyers/collectors can’t afford the hobby anymore
so its ok for pokerev to sell me a 74 dollar pack of silver tempest and call it poke rev 6.0 but I cant go to walmart and buy multiple products and sell them over retail? Interesting.
I actually don’t know this for a fact but I’d assume he’s holding for collecting purposes and these other people are mass holding for profit and to resell for 3 times the price
@@bambimolester1311There are no Hidden Fates booster boxes. Do you mean ETB’s? But I assume he does breaks at or close to market price. What’s wrong with that? Hidden Fates isn’t printed anymore so there’s an established market price, he’s just making the item available for said price while entertaining an audience. If he’s using his status to get a bunch of Prismatic Evolutions early then doing breaks for scalper prices that would be an issue, but there’s nothing wrong with doing breaks for sets that already came out.
He not talking about the average person that's holding a few boxes of sets talking about people thats buying up then sit on them to resell open you ears you have to be 10
So no self awareness or accountability? Being one of many youtubers that fantasize and utilize the money aspect of the hobby causes all these scalpers and vendors to ruin what was once fun
Goes both ways. All these people blaming TH-camrs as if they're hypnotizing viewers into making crass decisions with their money. People got no common sense and think opening up massive amounts of product for profit is a realistic expectation. And scalpers will do their thing regardless of influencers, so roundabout blaming TH-camrs for scalpers is just more blame shifiting.
@ youtubers are the cause, there wouldnt be delusional people if the money aspect was not placed forth by these people. Again i look at the catalyst you are explaining the result
@ TH-camrs are a SYMPTOM of the popularity of the franchise (and expanding technology, to be general). See, you people are acting as if collector value was never a thing until now. If you have a collectable product, you have collector value. Before TH-cam there were websites displaying prices. Before websites there were thick magazines displaying prices. By calling viewers catalysts (if that's what you intend), your effectively trying to free people of accountability. VIEWERS decide the value of product, not TH-camrs. If you mean the TH-camrs are catalysts, that's completely incorrect, 'cause the whole situation drives away new people and stifles growth which directly affects them ('cause reality is these people are running a BUSINESS, not just wantonly opening product and giving stuff away). Being so easily influenced as to foolishly buy at 2x to 5x MSRP is not on the influencer - which by the way is not some magical role that coerces people into emptying their wallets. BE ACCOUNTABLE. Don't let hype TH-camr man decide for you how to responsibly spend your hard-earned cash OR how to properly enjoy your hobby. Even better - warn other people to be wiser about how their spending AND who they're watching. I'm not totally against making sure influencers aren't being completely misleading. I'm only against all the blame shifting and de-emphasizing accountability in favor of an easy target.
@@jayzuniga2338 So basically you absolve the viewers of any accountability, as if - again, TH-camrs hypnotize their viewers into making poor purchasing decisions. No sir, if a collectable product exists, then the emphasis _naturally_ falls on its monetary value. The fact that it's also a game is irrelevant. The only thing that has changed is that TH-cam exists as a faster, more expressive medium to bring attention to the value of the collectable items. Beforehand we had primarily websites, and before that collector magazines. TH-camrs are not a catalyst, 'cause the repulsion of new players/collectors directly affects them as well. These "influencers" are running a BUSINESS; that's just reality. And just with any business, customers CHOOSE where and how to spend their money. The problem here is people think they can make poor decisions then shift the blame for THEIR poor decisions on the hype-men who are doing EXACTLY what they should be doing. If there actually is a catalyst, it's the people out there intentionally trying to create FOMO - not by emphasizing the traditional aspects of the TCG but through scalping and buyouts and exorbitant prices increases. They're the true catalysts because they don't care about the hobby. And the reality is they don't need influencers to capitalize on an opportunity. I will admit influencers can contribute through relaying information. But by that line of logic TPC is also at fault for failing to provide enough product and manipulating card rarity. And consumers are also at fault for failing to control their wallets and giving the bad actors what they want. It is shortsighted to direct so much of the blame on TH-camrs and so little of it on consumers and other factors.
Ridiculous. If you wanna blame slimey scalpers, that makes sense. But to blame somebody who simply films himself enjoying the hobby, and happens to be wildly popular.. just makes you look like a child lashing out. Guess anybody who opens pokemon cards on TH-cam should just be forced to delete their channel once they hit a certain subscriber count lol
@@yepdontcarebud He literally signals to people what to scalp, he's who the scalpers listen to lmao, and actually yes if you want avoid the responsibility of becoming a part of it you genuinely do need to delete your channel and stop giving takes on the hobby or else you are just being a hypocrite. When you give opinions, people agree and disagree with them and make choices based on your insight, if you scale the viewers up your opinion starts to matter a lot more than other people's, even if everyone has an opinion.
Rev, when you and hundreds or thousands of content creators make videos like "Opening The $200,000 1st Edition Pokemon Box (Rarest In The World)" , "Opening My $1,000 Hidden Fates Booster Box In 2025", "I Opened $850 of 151 Packs To See If It's WORTH IT" and many, many others, people eventually see that and realize they can make a lot of money. The Costco videos, the reselling pre-orders at 2x the price or more is all disgusting. As consumers we have to say "no, I'm not buying that at 2, 3, or 4 times it's value second hand". People have to be willing to miss out on some things (which so many people are not accustomed to). I think the pull rates on Prismatic will help cool things off a bit or Pokemon can just print more cards.
I agree. Creators like Rev, caused the issue. Yea they’re not scalpers but you hit the nail on the head when they decide to upload content to millions of people hyping up products which drives up the cost. Really annoying that Rev’s making videos complaining about this when he’s the one who caused it to happen
Putting prices on display on tittles and videos do contribute to a lot of viewers believing there's quick cash to be made out from selling cards. I truly believe these guys do not intend their videos to have this effect on viewers, but I believe they do regardless of intentions.
Yea but give the guy a break. Don't let someone who changed his mind and decided to walk down the aisle of responsibility trip and fall. He's being sensible and we need more of this everywhere, now. Whatever happened in the past is in the past, forgiveness is important
Well said. These guys including Rev aren't average collectors they're extremely high end. Rev has no problem getting packs I guarantee you that. When he makes the Prismatic pack openings to 2 days you'll see just how much he has. They're mad that they have to pay more.
@@joebassetti7520 rev usually gets product pre-released because distributors favor him due to his large following on TH-cam. Most of the time (idk about PE bc it’s the newest/hottest set) he gets his stuff for MSRP too. So he gets to profit off the views and horde sealed product smh.
What a funny video. “Prismatic evolutions” hasn't even been released to the public yet and how many booster packs have you opened? Yeah but yall are missing the point. Him and other TH-camrs have contributed to this problem. But the big problem is that there’s people that give no shits about Pokémon hoarding packs and reselling them at 2-3X the price during the period that it’s hard to find.
This is easy to solve but only if Pokemon listens. No more Digital Orders and pre-orders should be done in store. Pre-orders should be guaranteed for all who went and just release it per batch.

Ketchumall Collectibles who gets product from distribution to sell packs in rip and ships?? The actual issues is those using bots to get products on pre order to then immediately flip on eBay for x2/3/4 the retail cost. They are the issue and where your anger should be aimed at. Not Rev, Danny, Dan, Alpha Investments etc etc who are not buying in mass to flip for a quick buck
you're a scalper too 💀 I hate to be that guy but like, name 10 characters that aren't from gen 1... get over yourself, you make this video pretending to be worried but as I write this comment you are live opening tons of packs. you are the problem, you just want the money.
I took one look at the prices of prismatic and said "Yup - looks like I'll just be opening Terastal Festival" If everyone just decides that $18 a pack is insane (like me) then the prices will drop back down. It might take a few sets but I'm willing to miss out on a few English sets and just rip Japanese until things get back to normal

Yes exactly. It's clear as day but not everyone agrees with us because they are also complainers just like PokeRev when they would do the same thing as them given the slightest chance 😅
I agree, printing the set for longer period of time maybe 6 to 9 months and increasing supply might start to make prices drop. The supply and demand makes these reseller go get them and flip it into a 3 to 5 times profit.
Same issue would happen. They'd be more hype and people would scramble to get it since " I can't make scalper money for another 6 months". It wouldn't solve it sadly
See how things would turn out in a downturn then. If pokemon is always printing way more products then just imagine what would happen to all the boxes that sat in the 90’s for months. They get even cheaper, nobody wants it, stores close down.
As someone who has collected Pokemon cards casually my whole life since the 90s, this is really upsetting. I just want to get a box or two and rip packs and have a great time. Not only can I not find any, but if I did they would be outrageously priced. I feel like someone like me who is a true fan and collector has been relegated to only being able to buy singles from cabinets and TCG, and the fun of going out and getting a box on a Friday and enjoying the experience...is over.
Pot calling the kettle black. It just seems hypocritical to not sell at MSRP and open a week early. For every 1 box you sell you can open 3 for free because you already get a bulk deal. The answer is simple, MSRP on all products and treated like an event ticket. You can resell but not triple the price. That's the difference between reselling and scalping. MSRP on Prismatic is 60 not 150. I bet you sell at 150 though just like the brick and mortar stores do. They also should change ages 6+ to 18+ because of the prices and the illegal gambling involved. TCG is just brick and mortar guys using scalpers prices. Sports cards has same problems. The people who are supposed to sell boxes at MSRP won't, you guys want to open all the boxes, get all the hits and have someone else pay for it
Well no, TCG Player is just a marketplace that facilitates the sale of cards and gives an accurate representation of what people are paying (market price). It’s like StockX for sneakers. There really is only one way to effectively eliminate resellers of any hobby or market. Production (supply) must be increased to the point where it either exceeds or is equal to demand. That way if a product never was out of stock then it could never be worth more than MSRP. But obviously this takes away the rarity and collectible aspect of the item in question, which in part will reduce the demand. Classic red pill vs blue pill situation.
As a sneakerhead, same thing happened to sneakers a few years ago. Basic sneakers were selling out and reselling for hundreds of dollars over retail. It was a rough time for people that just wanted to buy and wear Jordans. Then the market crashed. Everything happens in waves.
@@PokemonCardInvesting lets say it like this after basically after 2 years when i was able to get one for me and my dad im done with consoles after this generation and going to pc if i still want to game because that stuff was not fun for anyone

The Pokemon Company needs to print these sets in crazy amounts now to set back the value. Just the way as it went with the Charizard UPC and Crown Zenith.
@@YagaYeah this ideology is flawed they are missing out on money because the extra money they could be making from boxes being in stores is going into scalpers pockets. unfortunate truth. if they want to profit they will print these into the ground for a while and make sure when you go to a store there is stock waiting for you.
You are absolutely right, they should based on the community reaction but I somehow doubt they will anyways. Even if it takes them a few extra weeks/months in between sets to print more they should absolutely take as much time as necessary to prevent the reselling
@ - cause they know their products will sell out right away. The last thing they want is a bunch of unsold product. Supply and Demand -Look at what happened with beanie babies, they over produced and now who buys them. They are playing the long game.
To those saying he's giving back to the community, you must not understand how TH-cam works. Of course, he's gonna sell these booster packs at retail prices to his subscribers and say he's "helping the community", he makes so much more money off views that it doesn't matter what he sells packs at. But if viewer retention goes down because of pull rates, then it hurts his revenue. And if buying these cards at triple or quad the cost, then that goes into how much money he has to spend now to make these videos. Don't be fooled. These youtubers/influencers don't care about you. They only start speaking up when packs and their prices affect their pockets and their views.
Lmao Ong this dude is a joke I think he's mad he has competition is getting bigger more TH-camrs and influencers pop out it's just not the big dogs running the game no more
YOU are buying sealed products (mass quantities). YOU are a big part of the problem. It ruins it for the 99% of everyone else who gets a little bit of joy buying a booster box or an ETB etc. now we can’t find anything in store or online. It KILLS the joy of Pokemon. Sad.
We not falling for your BS poke rev cut it out over a MIL in sealed booster boxes and now investors are the problem? Not the homie opening 1k plus of sealed per day to make money?
Rev today: so guys this is what i think about the pokémon card hobby😕... Rev Tomorrow: Guys! I purchase $10,000! worth of pokémon Prismatic Evolutions packs!😃
"Id hate to see pokemon go down this path" its literally on the path you set and advertise. We watch your videos to see you open packs but all your content is about rarity and value and where the market is. Now youre complaining about the market. You hype the entire market every week.
Sorry man but it sounds like this is really just about packs and booster boxes going up and hurting profits. Im positive people would agree with this assumption.
Idk, I mean you are saying focusing on the $ value aspect is killing things but man it seems a large focus of your content is what $ amount is this worth or that worth..I’m not gonna lie I’ve watched your videos go from admiring artwork and illustrations wholeheartedly…to getting upset or bummed from not making monetary value back on pulls or packs..
youre not wrong but thats a part of any collecting hobby. every collector wants some expensive chases in their collection and everyone who goes to youtube to watch pokemon packs get ripped wants to see people pull expensive chases.
With the price of some product getting $3 worth of cards is very discouraging. With the content creation environment most creators open massive lots for clicks & probably don’t make enough return from the creation side of it. Imagine u opened a booster box at msrp & got nothing but duds. (Not saying I completely disagree with wut u said tho).
I disagree. He's more focused on opening packs and not storing sealed for a profit. There are many channels out there that call sealed product an "investment" and treat it as a stock market and not a children's hobby.
It’s so ridiculously expensive now kids can’t afford it. It’s only adults at the card shows buying and selling Pokémon stuff now. TH-camrs getting paid to open fake packs with great cards are the problem. Me and my son open a case of boosters every new set and pull crap everytime. We’re slowing down a lot and if it keeps going up the way it is we’ll be out of it.
@@BradleeTCG Same. I keep hearing adults talking about the poor kids. What 9 yr old is buying 150$ boxes? You think the average kid will only accept a prismatic ETB?
I literally went to Walmart, Best Buy, target, another Walmart, EVEN MY LOCAL POKEMON CARD SHOP and there’s not a single pack anywhere! No etbs no collection boxes. Just yu gi oh, lorcana, and the occasional pokeballs
it’s rich coming from a youtuber who makes a living off it. you can spend 10000$ on a sealed pack, unbox it, stream it and/or make a video off it then reap the rewards of ad revenue and make your money back. it happens all over the place and it’s a never ending pit and i have to say youtubers don’t help at all. they have ZERO money worries
@@NorthwoodsTCG I love Pokemon just as much as the next person but I doubt that. People wouldn’t spend nearly as much on Pokemon cards if it was worthless.
I kinda agree how it sucks for players to spend more just to build decks and how it makes it much harder for people to play. It’s crazy how people think of it as a stock. It makes it less fun now that people are just hoarding it to make more money😔
My son and I got back into the hobby about the time 151 hit the market. It’s been great getting back into it and sharing my love of Pokemon with my whole family. It’s getting tougher to find cards for any kind of value. Thanks for sharing Rev!
you came into pokemon with one of the most popular sets. It was expected to go up in price regardless of the quantity of UPC's and ETBS. In Canada or USA you had UPCs for like less than 100$. Not really sure you are refering to not finding products or cards of 151 set only or all S&V. Because almost all S&V sets not paldea evolved, 151, maybe twilight is getting up there in price and ofc surging are still affordable. If the "COLLECTORS" or parents of kids "COLLECTING" only want the most popular sets yeah ofc it is hard to buy. That is why you should buy boxes and products of OTHER sets. Not hating on your comment but it seems to me all the people are just complaining when the boxes that could have cards worth 500$+ are not 90$ but closer to 200$ which seems just crazy to think about. The whole year S&V boxes were more than affordable and some still are. They don't have the most valuable cards in them but hey. You guys are not in it for the money but just the fun right? You can even find boxes of SWOSH for under 200 if your kids or you wana open some older sets.
Exactly my son loves opening packs but a new set that jus came out should not be nomore than $150 dats my price limit on a box of new cards I won't pay more than that sure if it was a 10 yr old box I could understand but a new set these prices are ridiculous if u can even find them. Pokemon needs 2 change something cuz something is mad wrong lol $150 for a etb no way I'll pass sucks for my son guess I'll jus buy the video games when they come out with new one
I feel like it's a similar thing that happened to shoes not too long ago. There was a lot of hype and a take over of bots buying out product at release, all so resellers could make money off of people who were genuinely in the hobby for the hobby. The same goes for in store buy-outs, it wasn't uncommon during that time in the sneaker hobby that people would make backdoor deals and buy out inventory of hyped shoes or buy more than was fair.
Also for those thinking it's the fault of influencers, people opening sealed product for hyped cards has been a long standing thing in the hobby, these channels getting increased attention is just a result of the other factors of the situation.
Coming from someone who makes a living off of pokemon seems pretty hypocritical even if you dont price gouge how are you going to sit here and complain about people making money off of the hobby when thats exactly what you do.
That's exactly what happened, Pokemon TCG in people's eyes have become a long term investment or flip for a profit. There needs to be a hard crash/reset for things to change. Pokemon as a company doesn't care, they are getting paid. Also, the narrative of someone saying they are opening a $1000 box but bought it at retail needs to stop.
Love you rev but you’re probably one of the OG investor bros, hoarding or reselling and having storage units full of sealed. Also not even counting the millions of packs you have to source for your mystery packs. But I do agree, Pokemon does need to get print to demand to wash out the “scalpers” and quick flippers so we can have a slower and more organic market.
You don't think pokemon, a multi billion dollar company didn't already think of this? They are literally creating policies that adds fuel to the craze and laughing all the way to the bank without being portrayed as the bad guy.
@@superunaturethe thing is sure they can do more and do better to alleviate this whole issue but the problem is even if they did scalpers and investor bros will still manage to get an over abundance of these sets cause of bots and such. Those greedy people will always find a way
@@SaiyanShoto It's not an issue that Pokemon themselves would want to solve. Why would they when demands have never been better because of it. They only have to keep up an image that they are for the people but in the back they still fuel the craze.
Scared for the hobby? Every single Pokemon card TH-camr does nothing but flash dollar signs all over the screen, and it's almost not even about Pokemon anymore. It's become all about the money, and it's ruined the hobby for a lot of people, including myself. I miss the days when opening a pack of Pokemon cards was more about the passion for Pokemon, rather than the passion to make a buck.
I literally want to collect pokemon cards just for amazing artworks, and not for money... it breaks my heart really to see that it's getting even more difficult to get new sets and I won't be buying overpriced sets. I just think about getting the old ones, but even with older sets it's not so colorful too. Geez... I love pokemon, and I love collecting cards and see all the beautiful artworks if it's just a common or SAR. I feel like... people forgot about why we collected cards and they changed it's purpose to be only for investments, it kills the joy and hobby. I wanted to start collecting japanese versions but it's so hard to get it at reasonable price for real, at least here where I live, like english set wasn't expensive enough. People will say "get over it" but they won't understand my pov if they're not collecting cards because they love pokemon. I especially love Sylveon card from this new set and since I saw it for the first time I really wanted to get to try and chase after it, it's part of the fun, but with such prices and low pull rate it's almost impossible to enjoy. I don't want to drop this hobby so I hope like a naive person that things will get better.
I love you Rev but when content creators constantly put up the price when a card is pulled it makes it a business not a hobby. And I know it isn’t just you, but this was always going to be the way. Other people have just cottoned on now
Here's the thing. I love this channel, it scratches that itch to see juicy rare pulls. That being said, you are part of the problem. You and the other content creators. Normal consumers don't get a shot while people who have made Pokemon their livelihood order up all of the allocations. This is a dream job, and kudos to you for being so successful! But now everyone else wants a shot at this too and it hurts the every man consumer. No hate, just pointing out that YT and other social media platforms play a giant role in all of this!
@@rnkenzie5659 I’d agree if Rev was buying product off of shelves, but he is getting either directly from the pokemon company or a distributor so I don’t think heavily impacts in store availability. It’s not like he is going to Walmart buying all of the product and selling it for triple. I think the bigger issue lies with pokemon company’s production. They either clearly aren’t allocating product well between stores or they have a production problem. Do TH-camrs contribute to HYPE, yes I do think they do. But this wouldn’t be an issue if more product was produced.
It's so sad what scalpers are doing with this set. I stayed up all night for release, trying to get my nephew and I an etb. They sold out in minutes It's so frustrating for those of us who just want to collect and share with our family.

I never buy new product over MSRP. already explained to my 12 year old that we probably will not be able to open as much new stuff until prices come back down. He understands that but it still sucks that we cant enjoy the hobby and get that quality time we spend together in this hobby opening the new and exciting sets coming out. we will probably open older stuff that we can find at a decent price but it will still feel like we are missing out on what is out there
They are literally cards, the only reason people really want to open these is because they’re hyped - this is why it’s disappointing to open older sets/other current sets because you can’t get the most hyped sold out set right now that everyone wants. This will never stop, humans will not change their nature and this is where the scalpers come in, where there is hype and demand there are scalpers. Certain sets that sold out and resold in the past are now sitting at retail in stores after restocks…instead of being sad that you can’t get the most hyped item buy some others, be patient and wait for restocks. Once the hype dies the scalpers will disappear.

I wanted to make this video in hopes that it would help get the word out that Pokemon really needs to up their printing capacity so that average collectors and players can get the packs and cards in their hands and not have to pay 3-4x msrp. it’s a huge problem for the hobby and if left like this for long enough could be a disaster for the tcg as a whole.*

@@FootofaFerret this is sadly true, but it’s at a point where it’s not really fixable. As it stands only the pokemon company can fix it.
Badass yugioh reference but I feel you for real the hobby needs immediate help
THANK YOU. We've been saying this in our group who plays.

I never buy from resellers, only from stores.

ones a business that buys from the distributor , the ones raiding costco are not businesses or the self-employed professionals , they are chancers/scalpers. pokemon company are printing so much its just feeding scalpers who if allowed to buy up all the Retail stock control the markets thats why prices go up , not due to supply but Controlling the market.

This a 25 minute version of that clip of Eric Andre shooting Hannibal and then immediately asking who killed Hannibal.
You just literally streamed 9 HOURS of SPEED ripping after this video 😂😂😂
Amazing self awareness. Alternate title is 'The Problem I Created is Ruining the Thing I Enjoy'.

Yes exactly. It's clear as day but not everyone agrees with us because they are also complainers just like PokeRev when they would do the same thing as them given the slightest chance 😅
They should stop releasing sets like crazy, and start printing every set for a longer period of time.
They get even cheaper, nobody wants it, stores close down.
totally agree
They have pretty much always done two sets a year in America 4 in Japan then the higher class also just more and more people got back into it 👌
As someone who has collected Pokemon cards casually my whole life since the 90s, this is really upsetting.
The hype beast TH-camr is calling out scalping. I needed my daily dose of irony.
The people who are supposed to sell boxes at MSRP won't, you guys want to open all the boxes, get all the hits and have someone else pay for it
Ye, he sells boosters for 4,5 USD per booster, x36 well thats 180 per box, he cant get cheap boosters 2flip so he's mad...
You’re right. Creators like Rev have only made this situation worse. Completely pricing-out lowly collectors and enjoyers from the hobby.
Brick and mortar guys use it on preesells @@emphatically

You are absolutely right, they should based on the community reaction but I somehow doubt they will anyways. Even if it takes them a few extra weeks/months in between sets to print more they should absolutely take as much time as necessary to prevent the reselling

To those saying he's giving back to the community, you must not understand how TH-cam works. Of course, he's gonna sell these booster packs at retail prices to his subscribers and say he's "helping the community", he makes so much more money off views that it doesn't matter what he sells packs at. I think rev points out the chase cards, yes. But higher value boxes are usually vintage. New sets being the same value as XY era and older is nuts
So where did he get all the old packs for his mystery packs?
It’s so ridiculously expensive now kids can’t afford it. It’s only adults at the card shows buying and selling Pokémon stuff now. TH-camrs getting paid to open fake packs with great cards are the problem. Me and my son open a case of boosters every new set and pull crap everytime. We’re slowing down a lot and if it keeps going up the way it is we’ll be out of it.
SAW A KID AT WALMART AND HE WAS SO SAD SAID “ MOM THERES NOTHING POKEMON CARDS MOM NOTHING" LIKE COME ON NOT A SINLGE PACK LEFT ITS CRAZY
@@Pokechico That’s really sad, i remember two years ago when product would sit for weeks at walmart. Crazy how fast times change
@@GrapesAuto it still sits in every store around me. Yeah it is popular, but scalpers are only in certain parts of the country.
Ive never seen a kid cry or let alone complain about pokemon cards, only adults
No bro he cares
This is the question youtubers should ask themselves: Would you be into Pokemon if it weren't profitable? I bet you the answer is no.
They definitely wouldn’t be sitting on 100k worth of sealed product 😂
Yes, was in it before it was profitable!
Would anyone be in this hobby if it was worth nothing? Be real with yourself
@@asian2go96 yes
@@NorthwoodsTCG I love Pokemon just as much as the next person but I doubt that. People wouldn’t spend nearly as much on Pokemon cards if it was worthless.
I kinda agree how it sucks for players to spend more just to build decks and how it makes it much harder for people to play. It’s crazy how people think of it as a stock. It makes it less fun now that people are just hoarding it to make more money😔
"The way i make money off pokemon is the only morally right way" 😂 FOH
He just wants them all
My son and I got back into the hobby about the time 151 hit the market. It’s been great getting back into it and sharing my love of Pokemon with my whole family. It’s getting tougher to find cards for any kind of value. Thanks for sharing Rev!
Same. I got back into it around 151. I bought a sealed premium just to keep and it seems to be double the price now.
Cheap vintage holos
Same got back in late 151. Got lucky enough to get a charizard in the few i opened.
you came into pokemon with one of the most popular sets.
It',s crazy that the normal collecter can't even afford any oacks because everything is sold out
Exactly my son loves opening packs but a new set that jus came out should not be nomore than $150 dats my price limit on a box of new cards I won't pay more than that sure if it was a 10 yr old box I could understand but a new set these prices are ridiculous if u can even find them. Pokemon needs 2 change something cuz something is mad wrong lol $150 for a etb no way I'll pass sucks for my son guess I'll jus buy the video games when they come out with new one
The price of an ETB in 2017 at msrp was only $29. Today it's $50. Even MSRP is getting hard to buy tbh.
@ So is everything else, food, gas, bills etc.

@@relicdad88teach your kid to buy singles instead or gambling
It is almost like Pokémon TH-camrs ruined the market.
Not just them.
Coming from someone who makes a living off of pokemon seems pretty hypocritical even if you dont price gouge how are you going to sit here and complain about people making money off of the hobby when thats exactly what you do.
💯
Americans too lazy to get a job 😂
Sounds like he’s sad he has to spend a lot more money to fuel his channel
Unsubbing all creators since you guys opening boxes on boxes does nothing to help
Bro’s eyebrows are almost sharp enough to cut sealed box prices
😂
That's exactly what happened, Pokemon TCG in people's eyes have become a long term investment or flip for a profit. There needs to be a hard crash/reset for things to change. Pokemon as a company doesn't care, they are getting paid. Also, the narrative of someone saying they are opening a $1000 box but bought it at retail needs to stop.
It doesn't help that Pokemon have leaned in on this themselves. Why do you think in every pack there's usually just a single chase card now.
@ yeah that’s the sad truth
The pot calling the kettle black with penciled on eyebrows😂
Yeah for real this guy opened 200 packs yesterday like wtf lol
@@rnkenzie5659 I’d agree if Rev was buying product off of shelves, but he is getting either directly from the pokemon company or a distributor so I don’t think heavily impacts in store availability. It’s not like he is going to Walmart buying all of the product and selling it for triple. I think the bigger issue lies with pokemon company’s production. They either clearly aren’t allocating product well between stores or they have a production problem. Do TH-camrs contribute to HYPE, yes I do think they do. But this wouldn’t be an issue if more product was produced.

He understands that but it still sucks that we cant enjoy the hobby and get that quality time we spend together in this hobby opening the new and exciting sets coming out. we will probably open older stuff that we can find at a decent price but it will still feel like we are missing out on what is out there
Love that we have to tell our children they can't buy new pokemon cards because of this
They are literally cards, the only reason people really want to open these is because they’re hyped - this is why it’s disappointing to open older sets/other current sets because you can’t get the most hyped sold out set right now that everyone wants.
