  • Heeey, people of the Web, I missed you sooo much! If you thought I abadoned you - you were very wrong :) I was just busy modifying some of the studio acoustics.
    Now the studio is really, really finished and can work normally (what a relief). It's also tiome for first hardware upgrades, and as I'm a complete touch screen freak, I tried to find a replacement for Slate Raven solutions.
    I got a cheap Asus monitor, I placed two of my Metagrid tablets below and started doing things. Can it work? How is it? Is it slate-like at all? Is it possibly BETTER? Will it replace my Behringer X-Touch DAW controller?
    See the episode to find it all out. Cheers & hear ya soon!
    This is part 1, part 2 coming very soon.

    I did a video on this monitor 2 years ago on MacOS for the same reason. It works great. I now have a 4K touchscreen but the ASUS VT229 sits beside it and is the best plugin controller ever.

    Hey Paul, here's a touch screen workflow that i guarantee will blow your mind. Download the free SSL 360 Link and the SSL 360 application. Dedicate your touch screen to the 360 application. Add the 360 Link plugin to every track in your song. Use a channel strip with 360 Link. The 360 app will display the channel strip controls in a console format that will be familiar to you. 360 app has a transport built in. I'm using this setup with my touch screen and it's as close as you'll get to mixing on a hardware desk.

    Nuendo lack of 10 point of touch support has been the bane of my existence for years... It is one of the reasons it took forever for meet to jump head first into production... my very first experience was killed for productive workflow via touch.

    • @lilsavdabest
      @lilsavdabest 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is NO REASON for a studio to have higher resolution. We make music, not playing video games on the damn thing. WHAT would you need higher resolution for? A 720p screen with no lag is going to be 10,000x better than a 4k screen.

      @@FoliaSound I completely understand but clients also pay for esthetic. U can be the best engineer in the game but can’t charge $50 an hour for a Scarlett and a shire sm7b. People like that studio feel as well and the raven with the dual screens has it. 😉

      @@NoahJonesNews , my 2nd and 3rd studios charge regular Polish market rates (35-45 USD) and guess what? They're both Scarlett :D I'm serious! We got the aesthetics of the rooms covered, they're also comfy, but first of all - we deliver quality our Clients expect and we know how to talk to them.
      You have to work on pro gear, but making the gear itself "impress" anybody - well, if you screw it up on Raven, even Raven won't help your professionalism and retaining your Clients...

    though... curious how many of the customized gestures and functions available on the Slate you could somehow get to work similarly on this (or any other standard touchscreen). Batch gestures and other Slate specialities, surely not.
    am guessing with the full capabilities that Slate's paired software comes with specific to the different DAWs, there'd still be a BIG difference considering that.
    Not a bad alternative option for those on a budget tho.
