Question: Do artists dedicate 10k hours to learning how to code, foley techniques, electronics, software design, etc. before they leverage all the tech they use in modern workflows for their art? No, cool. So if you are this upset, please sell all of your equipment, uninstall all that software, and get back to live performance using wood and string instruments and painting on canvas with pigments and brushes you hand crafted yourself. Because all of that gear was made by engineers and developers whose talents are not compensated every time their software is used to crank out another banger or used to pump out another digital print. If you use Adobe Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Reaper, FL, Wacom Pads, Autotune, effect pedals, synthesizers, (I could go on for pages) then, congrats, you leveraged technology you didn't build, have zero clue how to do "for yourself" to then profit off to produce and polish art that you otherwise could not have produced to the same degree (or at all) without it. We all live in a world where we leverage tech to remain relevant. The world also still values bespoke and hand mare furniture in the realm of Ikea and Wayfare. The world still has rock concerts in the same realm as Spofity and TH-cam. The world still has art galleries in the same realm as artstation and deviantart.

music has been dying since its very creation. cave man hears his friend banging on a log and he copies it. now days the very music makers out there are using ai themselves to write their next album. what about werid al does he not take music that is already written and change it to make it his own. lets not overlook the rappers and sample music, they dont write it they take it from someone else! in the 70s we had disco but the world moved on and it became a hated genre. the landscape changes everyday. i would understand the anti ai thinking IF the ai was actually stealing the songs someone else wrote. but its simply not, its taking a artist style and making its own thing. its no different thanwhen grunge came on the scene, suddenly hair metal is on its way out and grunge is in. i cant play a insterment to save my life but if i were to play around with ai suddenly i can now join the game. i would be making music but its not like i can go on tour. i cant pull that sweet sweet tickcet master loot but sitting at my computer. i do get that artist feel threatened by ai. but how man of you complained when computers were taking over the world? almost every field has been flooded with computers. i am a trained photographer. suddenly one day the digital took over and today most people have never even seen a roll of film. you cant have it both ways. we either progress or we stagnate. we have all heard of these "artist" that are using auto-tune, backing track, lipscyncing and so forth and so on. this isnt a case of some clod like me ripping you off, its the artist themeselves doing it. im not say ai its the greatest thing in the world, im only saying its no different from the things we have seen before. maybe just maybe its time for these artist to take some of that spotify money and but a high end computer. hate on me if you want but you cant argue that im wrong.

I was still using my Virus C many years ago. I had a sound problem with my Virus und needed help, so I got in contact with the "customer support" ..... I love my Virus, but jesus... the support is a JOKE. I ended up repairing the Virus by myself. As for the Emulation: It's 100% the SAME. I can tell because the Hardware Virus is generating a "sound-glitch" when you're playing very high note chords. The Emulator is also doing this! :D Btw... you have to listen to the Microwave XT demo emulation, it's also crazy!

US Copyright law says it has to be done by a human, otherwise copyrights don't apply. If you wrote the lyrics then those would be your copyright material. Congress is going to have to take a serious look at this, which in turn would be a great opportunity for musicians/artists to step up & be heard. This whole situation takes me back to when midi started. People who couldn't play drums suddenly had the ability to create some serious licks. Technically a persons input, which could also apply to prompts. And what about AutoTune? Sure someone is singing but the "machine" makes them sound better by ensuring they are on key. Nobody naturally has reverb/delay/etc either. And didn't we all basically "steal" when learning how to sing/play an instrument like someone else, or use someone's style to write lyrics/melodies/etc? It's a slippery slope we are on...

I am a music producer myself and I can say with certainty that all music producers are inspired by other music. And that in the broadest sense of the word. Anyone who says he doesn't is lying. So why can't a computer do the same? There are relatively few people who make money making music compared to the number of people who make music. 99% have never made money making music, but they put a lot of time into it. Perhaps professional music makers are a bit spoiled, because they get money for pursuing a hobby while others do the same without getting any money for it. And maybe the others do it even better. When you do something for money, you have to accept that the world is constantly changing and maybe at some point what you do is no longer so important. That happens in every industry. I would say adapt and move on.

Having just watched your AI music vid (of 1 month ago), why is Access' copyright on its Virus firmware be such a problem if AI could create a new "virtual analog" synth modeled after the Virus, with a UI modeled after it, and with presets (and unlimited new sounds and variations) based on Virus presets, and with better, more opended-specs, and possibilities, and audio quality? After all, Virus itself is very much a clone of analog electronics with digital improvements...

If you cannot come up with better music than AI then that is your inability to come up with new ideas, which AI cannot. Yes you can produce a song really fast with AI but you cannot (yet) produce something that is new and outstanding. So are you worried that all those composers and producers who reiterate the same old styles and melodies are getting outdone? I certainly hope so because most of the music on the radio and mass media is just the same warmed up stuff that we have been bombarded with for the last 20 years and more. I think those guys deserve to loose their jobs if they are so unimaginative. I am glad the bar has been set higher now and I am looking forward to better music in the future...

“90 percent of the market will die”. It may not be “90 percent”, but it’s certainly going to kill a large part of the music industry. It will cause a huge domino effect that will kill instrument makers, software and hardware makers, etc. You’re also correct about one corporation buying from the other. There will be a large reduction of force, especially in the corporate world, and many will lose jobs that they’ll never be able to regain again. Unfortunately, it will kill a lot of creative aspirations from the younger generations. Will it cause an underground scene of real life/live performers? Only time will tell.

I shouldn't worry too much. The trouble is this will likely become soulless to many listeners. Boring even despite being fascinating and even brilliant at the same time. I've an orchestral work currently of around almost 3 hours and it's been 7 years painstakingly wrote meaning that alone is at the very least interesting to many that will hear it and my connection and journey with it will mean much more than if I said I'd simply magically created it. AI music isn't beauty in it's creation because there isn't journey or struggle. This stuff other than the fairly meaningless ditties for commercials etc will be consumed no doubt but for some it's just too hollow to care for more than past the initial fascination

Be honest, the music industry has been a s*** show for 25 years now. The songwriting is terrible nowadays. Everything is cliche, redundant, trite. Watch some of Rick Beato's videos reviewing the current "hit songs". It's a garbage heap of recycled crap, just like Hollywood has become. The whole thing needed a flushing, admit it. Now AI will generate better music than the fake musicians doing mimicry of past creativity.
