I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how this video became so popular on my channel. Thank you all for watching and a BIG thanks to the 100+ subs this video has brought along with it. Thanks for the love.
Well I do. The video title, that's the reason why, like me I bet many of the viewers thought it was a negative review. Glad to know you had a good experience with costumer support and all ended up well. I've just subscribed to their all access plan and i'm more that satisfied with the products I have access to.
I got mine about a month ago with out looking at videos of why not to buy, and I was nervous, then mine came in the mail and damn bro this thing is dope. maybe you can help me with touch sensitivity I know the best way to approach it is with touch gestures but open to your suggestions.
You seriously need to change the title of your post, it went south fast. BS, the company did more than above the call of duty to support you a 3rd party buyer, and stood behind the product. Your title and approach seems to be intended to create uncertainty and doubt, you should lead with SLATE is awesome and this is why!
Years back owned a studio and bought a Rode Tube Classic mic, that everyone loved. One of my clients knocked the mic stand over and completely mushed the casing, but the mic still worked fine. I used it this way for a long time and finally called Rode in Australia to see if I could buy a new casing, tech said send it back and they sent me a brand new mic for free, even after I told them that it was something we caused. I didn’t even pay for shipping from Australia. Shout out to good companies like Slate and Rode.
Recorded a song for my final school project with that mic in 1999. I've had more expensive mics but I'm always on the lookout for a Tube Classic at a good price.
Same thing recently happened to me, with a Novation Launchpad X. I had damaged the internal sensor sheet while cleaning it and couldn't find replacements; after emailing Focusrite/Novation support, they offered to send me a new sheet, free of charge. I actually got 2 of them in the mail, at no charge. Pleasantly suprised!
Now that is awesome customer service...What a blessing in this day and age. They saw how many iterations of BS you had to go through, noted your understandable frustration, and figured out that losing you as customer was not in their best interest. *BOOM*...Now I'm even more likely to get one of their units myself. Thanks for the str8-up story/review and I hope that panel is kicking @$$ for you
Good customer service and tech support are almost non-existent these days. Most businesses forget about the customer after the purchase. It is great to see an American company that has these values. I appreciate this video, including the candid honesty. I’ve been considering the Raven. This video and the comments I read in the commentary from other people have undoubtedly pushed the Raven to the top of my priority list.
You know what, I am soooooooo glad they hooked you up because you Sir are an honest man. What a great endorsement of what can happen when an honest man reaches out to a equally honest company. How cool would it be to see things work out like this all the time for people in life. I am glad you are sharing this because that company deserves any recognition they get from how they handled this and you do as well. Good on both of you!!
Hey AJ!!! You just did a sell for Slate! I’m going to purchase the Raven Core version. this video has helped me to trust in the company. Definitely the best video i have seen on gear of any kind. Thanks man! Blessings! Keith Leak
Love to hear this. I heard this before with Slate. I was thinking of getting that $150 modeling mic. I heard that they had problems with that, plus I had problems with the free drum plugin from them. It's great to hear that they stand behind their products 100%. Thanks for posting.
Any assistance outside the terms of a limited warranty is termed a goodwill gesture. They are always offered on a case by case basis and pretty rare overall. Some manufacturers will consider goodwill assistance yet…most do not. I am so happy that Slate was kind enough to help you out. Fantastic company in my book. Thanks for the video.
I got the dual ravens set up in my studio! I love them! I got my iMac sitting on top in the middle for a triple screen set up! Dope story thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for this ! I have two of their mics and was considering a Raven - I like his theory of making products for everyone- not just the ultra wealthy. The customer support sounds awesome! Thanks again
Yes Sir i had a the same thing that happened with me and my Kail IN'8s, out of warranty, they replaced them with both new ones and sent my a new pair of LP-8s. My mine was blown!!! USA Company all the way. This is what real customer service is about when you spend your hard earn money. Grace and Peace.
This is an incredible story...WOW...Just WOW. I attempted to buy the Raven MT12 Multi-Touch Production Console from a guy on Facebook Mkt place, who lives in NY. We were having great consistent back and forth convo, then he just flatlined the convo and I haven't heard from him since and I haven't made the purchase. He quoted me a slightly lower price which I was willing to accept and he just ghosted me without any replies. But all in all, thank you so much for the amazingly positive feedback on the company. By the way, You're dude of great integrity as well man, so well done and much continued success along your musical journey!
I've been a loyal slate customer since my very first purchase.Great company at affordable prices. They actually want artists to use their equipment so they're on top of customer service!Dope vid💪🏿
great video - I just got into Pro Tools and just got the ML-1 virtual mic system on the new sale from Slate - now I'm gonna go Slate All Access Pass - and save up my pennies for a NEW Raven MTi2 - bro, thanks - great story - and I am subscribing now! Props!
Really appreciate you sharing this story ... I think it's gonna be what takes mw off the fence about buying a Raven, which I've been thinking about for some time! Thanks!!
I'm changing my status from, I want to buy a Slate Raven to I am going to buy a Raven. I've had Shure and Beyer replace mics for me no charge. In 1992 I toured the Washburn factory and made a comment that I wished I had the new electronics in my acoustic. They asked me to ship them the guitar and they would upgrade it at no charge. I had it with me so I left it there and got it back in 4 days. They didn't even charge for the shipping. It feels good to read your stories, we always need more good news but now is a real good time for some!
You are correct these days no one want to help you they just want the money... but for him to give you a new one, just let you knew they stand beside there product, also u need to do and update on the new slate, I am thinking about getting one.
Thanks for sharing, I'm literally waiting for GC to call me to come pick mine up at some point today. Picked mine up used also and have been contemplating whether that was a good move going used, but you just put me at ease 1000%. I'm even more hyped to start using it now 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Great video. I am a raven user as well. I love the gear...I am so happy that I decided to go this route the best way to go out of the box is with the Slate Raven. I have the duo screen and the desk. So I am adding additional monitoring, so I wanted to get The Slate Control to monitor the control system. It also fits right into the desk. Guess what they are not making it at the moment. I can not find out why they stopped producing the slate Control. Ssshhhiiittt!!
I have the raven MTi and they have replaced mine twice. Slate and his team really care about their customers... customer support is always stellar.... if more companies were like them they would retain more customers
The worst experience I had was with Native Instruments. I had a Kontrol m32 and it was defective, the replacement device was also defective and there was almost no support for Windows, there was a driver problem.
I was thinking about getting a Raven and now after hearing your story I'm defiantly getting one because customer care should be on the top of every companies list 👍🏾
That's a great happy ending man :) I wish Audient would watch this and learn something. They recently changed their warranty from one year (bad) to three years. BUT, lots of people with bad products less than five years old that they won't do anything for. Steven Slate is doing it right.
A few companies have really good customer support like that. A few even let you transfer the warranty. Blue is another company with fantastic service. Had a shockmount for my Bluebird break on me a while back and they sent me a new one without any issue. I own Slate Drums, with some of the expansions. Always had good customer service experiences with Slate. Looking at buying a Slate Raven MTi to add to my studio, but am not 100% on it yet(mainly because I started out on physical hardware). The information is great to know.
Thanks for your great testimonial of Slate's excellent service! That's reassuring. Does it work with FL Studio 20? And also with the batch command? Can it be used as a "normal" screen for example to browse the internet? Thanks for your answer.
Hi man !. I’ve just landed here cause I’m wandering if buying an Slate Raven controller or an SSL or an AVID or even a BEHRINGER. Think that your history made me clear. Also I have to point that you’ve got an INFINITE PATIENTE… and Slate paid for it ! 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for all !!! Best regards from Barcelona, Spain.
Two 27" monitors for $500 and touchscreen frames for $173 each. On the second screen create batch commands, easily done in Logic Pro X, after it's the batch commands that Raven really boasts about.
Great story. I had an issue too with my Raven. I bought it from Sweetwater. They replaced it with a new one and even paid the full transport expenses. I don't have the all access pass because I buy almost all of their plugins. I wanted to buy the VRS to, but the fact that has no ADAT ports, I won't buy it. I have other audio interfaces and won't be able to connect more audio interfaces.
You should be endorsed. Your story here shows what a great company Slate has. I endorse Sleishman drums and they have treated me like gold. I broke a kick hoop, messaged David Sleishman and within a couple hours he sent me a pic of his little son holding my hoop next to a box and I got it a couple days later. Best sounding drums in the world and WONDERFUL people. Rickenbacker? Completely the opposite. Had a 12 string special edition with black hardware, sat in the case tuned over a step down for yrs. Opened case, tailpiece snapped. They offered to SELL me a CHROME one that would look like shit on a red/black guitar and were very rude. They wouldn't let me bring it in. Saw other people online that had the same problem with the black tailpiece on 12 strings. Talked to them at NAMM, complete shitheads. NEVER buy a Rickenbacker. This just shows how amazing or terrible companies can be and I appreciate and will praise the good guys from the mountaintops. Your story should have a lot of people buying Slate products. I have the Pearl/Slate Mimic Pro drum module and SS Drums 5.5, both are fantastic. I haven't needed service. I'm considering a raven, VSX headphones, the mic, and possibly the all access pass. Your review made all those things a lot closer. Thank you.
Man, I really thought that this was going to be one of those "Don't do it Videos"and I am pleasantly surprised by the ending of this. Awesome video my man! I've heard nothing but good things about Slate and this makes me even happier about the company. AWESOME
i have been a UA customer for 12 yrs. I was a drummer who tried getting into recording late in life and horrible with computers, I had no business getting in to this world but I knew this was the only way forward so I went out and bought really good quality gear and some complex for me to understand. Still I manage to do pretty good and even started recording hut i had an issue, so I decided to call UA and the tech gave me the feeling I had no business being in this field considering how basic my question was lol. I have never called them since butt I still buy their products and hardware. I spent a few months on TH-cam learning about products and recording and today I am making $$$ doing something i would have done for free. I wouldn't be here if not for the horrible UA customer service
so I have the twin Ravens MTi but I don't want to use the pro tools since i love the Cakewalk much better. so mine are worthless to me. they don't fire up I have the keys and the boxes packing stuff and to date I have never gotten them to work... is there any reason why SD forces you to use a DAW you don't want? just curious great video and I also have all the products the mic and all access pass but again have never used any of it because of the DAW issue
How did you get the updates to fix the touch screen?? Ive been trying to get In touch with slate for a week now about this issue.? I have the desk with 2 monitors
Thanks for the video. During the time it was down, were you able to use the mti2 as just a monitor without the touchscreen functionality, or did it just not work at all?
And here is a story about another company: I bought mechanical Omega Seamaster watch, which was certified for 1000ft diver work, and only took a shower with it. The warranty period was 2 or 3 years but after about 4 years after the purchase moisture found its way into the watch, one could see water inside the glass. I wrote to Omega and they wanted over $1000 for re-sealing it with warranty for 6 months. So if it leaks later after 7 months, I would have to pay another $1000. I refused, and continued to use the watch, just took care not to get it wet. It was a shame for 1000ft divers watch, of course, but at least it looked cool. Later, one of the buttons fell off. I went to repair it, but Omega's representative said - we have a record that you did not proceed that re-sealing procedure, so now we cannot replace you freaking button until you do that procedure. The watch looks ugly without the button and I have no idea what to do with it now.
I had about exactly the same thing. I got a new one as well. At this moment I use my Raven MTI2 as a touch screen but without using the Raven Software. To be honest this works best for me. I have had nothing but buggy shit with it. So at first I threw it of and accepted that I would have 2 very expensive 27'' screens. I purchased Softube's Console1. Better. Well after I while I decided to connect the touchscreen part again. So far so good, but without the mixer overlay.
So interesting thing for me. After I started using it, and got into really learning the batch commands and short cuts, I loved it .. that is until.... I went to another studio that didn't have the Raven, and realized "oh crap!!! I've forgotten all of my short cuts!" It was so uncomfortable trying to remember simple things like, the correct keys to create a new track, or the quick keys to turn on pre and post roll lol. I even had to Google a few commands just to remember how to do it smh. Now I use a hybrid. When I'm tracking I have a few presets that I use to quickly add tracks and plugin presets that I've created. I have a button I press that will give me a lead vocal track with my vocal chain already patched and inserted. But I do mostb of the heavy lifting from my keyboard. I don't like losing a skill to pickup a shortcut. I'm totally hybrid with it now.
@@AJAudio yeah man indeed totally agree. I’m a hybrid guy too. In terms of shortcuts: i bought a Streamdeck device recently and i can even really recommend this device to you too. Suddenly the so called ‘forgotten’ shortcuts are more physical under buttons that you put your own pictures on. Check it out. As an extra tool to control both you DAW and also other applications on your computer. at this moment i’m using both Raven(but without the actual Raven software). Hybrid in the same way as digital and analog tracking and mixing. Thanx, great video.
Thanks for the video, love the honesty, may be an awesome product, I thought about buying one but at the end of the day, I couldn't justify the purchase, other than to impress clients. Nice to look at but wouldn't improve my work flow. Appreciate you.
You have GOOD ENERGY, AJ. The Universe and God are blessing you with the positive things that you are doing with your life, music, energy, vibrations, and karma. AND... if you don't want to give the connection to The Universe AND/OR God, then you are just LUCKY (which, in turn is the same thing [you are changing the odds in your favor on a SUB-ATOMIC "playing field" {which on that level is 50,000 to 1}}. The odds grow as you come back up to this MACRO level. In essence, CONGRATULATIONS on winning with Slate (and... on the nerd side CONGRATULATIONS on collasping the Quantum Wave Function in your favor. Peace and Blessing to you from... DJ Spin Star One (SPIN) and DJ Wuntoo (Wun2) from TRT Music - The Rabbit Twins aka Psylab Music
Dope video. Can you do a video discussing using your Behringer Wing with pro tools? Believe it or not, there aren't many videos on TH-cam with both of them yet. 🙏🏽
Great to hear a story with a happy ending I have. Few pieces of “unauthorized” gear I bought used and other companies will not let you even Register then *cough* N.I. *cough”. My uno synth from I.K. Multimedia... the wouldn’t let me register the gear but did send me the drivers and software directly. You definitely are. Success story for Slate. I have the all access pass. Now I will pay more attention to their hardware!
Dude. In my opinion. If you are trying to run a legitimate company and brand, stop buying used, or cheap products. A legit business can write off all that stuff. Plus you can protect your brand.
Great Testimony! I was thinking about buying one but personally I knew know one here in Dallas that had one. I do use SS plugins which I think is Dope. I will be purchasing one now since I've seem this Testimony. I also see the Wing in the background. If its possible I would like some feed back on that Wing. I need another mixer, I have the X32R. I am more than happy with it, but I'm moving and finally to bring the rest of my gear Out of storage.
The warranty transfer with the device, not person... The problem started when you or the prev seller called on it and they just now replace it after 2yrs...lol. Thats BAD actually. they should been replaced it as defective!
Because most are dreaming about a Raven and you have a great title and story!!
I got mine about a month ago with out looking at videos of why not to buy, and I was nervous, then mine came in the mail and damn bro this thing is dope. maybe you can help me with touch sensitivity I know the best way to approach it is with touch gestures but open to your suggestions.

Facts, he literally just made me a loyal customer. I’m looking to see if I should buy one and this made my decision soooo easy.
Thank you! I am glad I waited till the end to hear the outcome. More confident about purchasing.
If I had any doubts about on buying a Slate product, you just convinced me. Been looking at the Raven. Gonna pull the trigger - a NEW one!
They are a great company with awesome software. Sorry you had those issues, but glad they took care of you. Never had any problems in 3.5 years.

Appreciate the review and compliments. Kudos to Slate. Wasn't expecting it. Nice!
I love this! There are great people out there! Thank you for sharing this. My Faith in people is strengthened more now.

Wow great video.. their tech support has just sold me! I'm gonna purchase the raven core station dual monitor setup next week!
You are correct these days no one want to help you they just want the money... but for him to give you a new one, just let you knew they stand beside there product, also u need to do and update on the new slate, I am thinking about getting one.
Greetings Bredda, I must say I love the hole story I wasn’t expecting such ah great outcome gwarn big up yourself too. 👊🏿👍🏿
Slate plugins are dope! I need a raven though. Steven seems to be a solid guy. Good video!

Thanks AJ. Great to get a straight up review on someone using equipment into real world. Would love to listen to your work
So glad I watched to the end! Great story and outcome for you and your studio!
Steven is a everyday Joe kind of guy. He's the best.

I have dual ravens & console. Always buy new is the best way to do it. Saves time and money.
I have the raven MTi and they have replaced mine twice. Slate and his team really care about their customers... customer support is always stellar.... if more companies were like them they would retain more customers
i sold my slate raven when iPad pro became a better option
You also got the Acer T272HUL in US. We don't in Europe. Would be cool to see if it can work with music software.
The repeating one bar of music made this really hard to listen to after the first minute or so.

Im with you man! Best Support ever!!!!!!!! 😎🤘🏻
Great story and hats off to Slate!!!
Dam those guys are awesome.. hearing something like this about a company will make me get one.
I'm glad I watched this. I'm just getting started and this is great info with a great ending!
I recently joined their academy, which is great too!!! Great video!

Awesome story : Thanks for taking the time to do it I’m buying a raven
Universal Audio is also a great company!
They care about their customer base.
you must be on a mac then.
@@willb3698, indeed I am.
Have you call UA?
i have been a UA customer for 12 yrs.
@@onlygknows7793, just be grateful.
I have had triggering convos myself that have helped me more than I could have imagined.
so I have the twin Ravens MTi but I don't want to use the pro tools since i love the Cakewalk much better. so mine are worthless to me. they don't fire up I have the keys and the boxes packing stuff and to date I have never gotten them to work... is there any reason why SD forces you to use a DAW you don't want? just curious great video and I also have all the products the mic and all access pass but again have never used any of it because of the DAW issue
They may have had the serial number with a record of malfunctioning from the previous owner. Either way, they looked out.
How did you get the updates to fix the touch screen?? Ive been trying to get In touch with slate for a week now about this issue.? I have the desk with 2 monitors
This is Amazing!! I was looking into getting one of these but heard the horror stories. thanks for your video.
I love how real this is. Thanks for the Post. But please that loop 😩
I'll limit the usage of background music on future videos. Thanks for watching
Never buy used unless you want someone else's problem. People sell off their broken stuff and blame it on you.
I see you have what I believe to be The Wing in the background, if so how do you like it
AJ, this is a great story! Love when a company does their business from the heart.
Thanks for the video. During the time it was down, were you able to use the mti2 as just a monitor without the touchscreen functionality, or did it just not work at all?
background loop is annoying.
That’s so dope of them!!! Glad you got it sorted brother
How is the new Raven working these days? I looked on your channel for a follow up to this video and didn't see anything.
Nice story, what a great company. Thanks
Are you still using the Raven now, over a year later? Have you continued to have issues with the new Raven that you received?
Yes I have the Raven 2 monitor desk set up and I’m glad you had success!
Wow! That's extremely unfortunate. Sorry to hear that for sure.
Well I was on the fence about getting one of these, you just convinced me to get it.
Thank You for this one 💯
How do you like that wing though?
I freaking LOVE IT!!! One of the best pieces of gear in my studio.
@@AJAudio awesome I’m definitely looking into it 💯
Thanks for the video, love the honesty, may be an awesome product, I thought about buying one but at the end of the day, I couldn't justify the purchase, other than to impress clients. Nice to look at but wouldn't improve my work flow. Appreciate you.
Yo AJ! Thanks for sharing a great story! When a company does good stuff we should definitely shout out! Now I want one!!!!! Hope you're well brother.
Steve! How goes it brother! all is well! Got a lil busy, and now I'm back on my TH-cam grind lol. Hope you're holding up ok.
Dope!
I was on the fence about the Raven, now I’m going to purchase one because of your video!
Thanks!!!
I guess the question is should you buy a Slate Raven used?
Sounds good ,but you could have recorded an album with the amount of time spent doing this .Hats off though for your endurance and to Slate .
Wow now that is customer service!!! Congrats dude!
SLATE is the best for that i bought the VSX headphone, but they broke a week after, I talk to customer support and 3 days later New ones
Exactly! They are outstanding in the customer service department
Slate really stands behind his products, that’s awesome. Good for you.
Yeah, very nice - a very serious company! I know where I want to buy next time and spare others. Thank you very, very much ^^
You have GOOD ENERGY, AJ.

Absolutely love this comment. Lol
Dope video. Can you do a video discussing using your Behringer Wing with pro tools? Believe it or not, there aren't many videos on TH-cam with both of them yet. 🙏🏽
Damm you must be one happy bro you hit the jack pot bless up 👊🏽
Great to hear a story with a happy ending I have.
Props to that biz. Been looking at these and this is a big thumbs up for companies that stand behind their products.
There are now cheaper portable touchable monitors with just 160£?Hello there
Congratulations bro!!
Hey give us update date on the raven
Dude. In my opinion. If you are trying to run a legitimate company and brand, stop buying used, or cheap products.
A legit business can write off all that stuff. Plus you can protect your brand.
I’ve had one since 2018. It’s ok. I prefer a real mixer though.
