    Jayme, I have some questions about updates with your touchscreen. I have a 55" TV and am thinking of doing the same thing. Questions! 1. Do you still enjoy using it and has it given you a faster workflow? 2. Is Studio One responsive with it? 3. If I am to build a similar thing, what major tip would you now give to someone like me about to do this? cheers mate.

  • @massivesaucer
    @massivesaucer 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really cool man. I have been dreaming of doing the same. The touch latency does not come from your graphics card. It comes from the touch overlay USB communication. Latency is an issue for the IR based overlays that use the USB. 3M has the projected-capacitive overlays with much faster response. PQ labs has some newer products that may improve the latency.

    Enable the TV's "PC" or "Game" mode and you'll likely see way less input latency.
    The latency is likely coming from the fact that TVs have a ton of latency by default to do all kinds of color processing for shows and movies. They usually get away with a ton of latency by default since latency isn't an issue because you're not interacting with the TV much in realtime.

    well done.can you repeat the modelname of pq overlay,i like to do it aswell,but i have no 4k ,and pqlab offer me a g5 2 k for my 50 inch which is only HD 1900x1080,mayby the g4 is also good for me? its 240$ less,

    Are you still using this? If so, could you record a video of your console evolution?

  • @LONE-SOUL
    @LONE-SOUL 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    are you still happy with this touchscreen? did you upgrade your graphics card since you released this video? if so whats the latency like now? that's the only thing that makes me hesitate doing this. The delay in response would most likely make me reach for the mouse instead and I'm assuming once you install the pq labs overlay there is no returning it.

    • @deadbeatstudios
      @deadbeatstudios  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love working on it! Same graphics card, I don't mind the lag. The delay isn't something you hear, it's something you see. The reaction is as instantaneous as your mouse. Obviously some things are better suited for the mouse and not touch, but it makes certain things infinitely quicker :)

  • @corpeningd

    How much did this 55" setup cost? Do you have a link for current costs of the different size options of the PQ labs g4s ir multi-touch overlay? Finally, can you provide specifics on the macro keyboard setup? I would like to have a 'smaller' version of this setup for my project studio using Cubase on Mac OS X platform.

    • @deadbeatstudios
      @deadbeatstudios  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check out X Keys for the macro beds, and for the G4S just run a search on it, I'm not sure where I ordered mine from (direct from the manufacturer, I think). I think with the construction is was under $2500 or 3 grand :)

  • @alinbate4580

    Cubase is multicouch? i mean to control the volume to 2 or more tracks in the same time.

  • @thomasbell2842
    @thomasbell2842 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Jamie, I made my own 55" DAW (Studio One) and it looks great however the touch especially on faders is not reliable enough. It is had to "grab" the fader knob and the touch is often going into "right button mode" (I would probably opt to disable that altogether). I have the same PQ Labs G4S overlay. There seems to be very few options or adjustments that can be made to it. Do you have any ideas for getting better and more reliable touch response?

    • @thomasbell2842
      @thomasbell2842 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I played around with this and got it working perfectly. I was thinking about getting a control surface however, it is doing just what i need via touchscreen interface. :-)

  • @yonatanpandelaki

    Why don't you use the dtouch software overlay? It will give you the multitouch support for protools and all the macros.

    • @deadbeatstudios
      @deadbeatstudios  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yonatan pandelaki I tried it out initially, the problem is my 4k resolution. The Dtouch isn't quite ready for 4k at this size. It makes the faders about a foot and a half long, because of how the template works. On a smaller screen it would be fine, but this one is far too big. I'm sure they'll be getting to it in the future, but for now I just figured I'd try and code my own. Plus, it's fun :)

    Hi Jayme!! First I want to say this is pretty sweeeeet! I was actually wondering about the table itself. How did you build that table to hold the TV at your desired angle and height, so that it fit perfectly? Did you have it build professionally?

    • @deadbeatstudios

    Devil Technologies makes DTouch software that is a competitor to the Raven. Will allow you to do pretty much everything you can do with the Raven and it will work with your existing setup. Hope this helps.

      +Scott Hammond Thanks Scott, yes I used the DTouch software and it's great. However, the 4k at this size becomes an issue. But yes Silvano did a great job with DTouch!

      Well you still need a PC, this just replaces the monitor screen and the control surface components. Those prices vary, but you can walk away with this for under $2k if you're handy :)
