I'm 73. Accidently smashed the outside side of my ankle above the heel with a hammer 40 years ago which led to ankle arthritis, and for the last ten years excrutiating lateral foot pain and Tailor's Bunion. TBH, these days I can hardly walk! But I never give up looking for a solution, and recently have found good pain relief by wearing a cheap, clear adhesive gel pad stuck to my forefoot directly under the bunion. It's actually a pronation/suppination gel pad meant for your heel (i.e. one side is elevated) but I wear it reversed, on my forefoot, so that the bunion is ELEVATED and this has greatly reduced the lateral foot pain which has been the most crippling aspect, above and beyond the ankle arthritis itself. I still limp stiffly, I still have a painful tailor's bunion, I still get weary, but the daily agony of lateral foot pain is hugely improved and as a consequence so has my stamina, my ability to work in my garden and thus my overall quality of life. I hope this comment may help someone else.

Can you please link or tell the name of the gel pads you mention at the end?? No picture came up when you motioned with your hands and I’d love to have a recommendation! Thanks so much!

I don't have this particular issue and I thought bunions were on the side of your big toe? Is a hammer toe and bunion (big toe bunion) related?

It's normal Bunion on big toe, this is Tailor's Bunion usually on your little toe

This would never help my bunion. Only way is to have it removed.

Same here. I first smear 40% urea creme, and then apply paper-tape. I leave that on awhile, then i painstakingly slice off my bunion calluses using one of those cheapo utility cutters which you hold like a pen, and which contains diagonal-shaped blades that you snap off every so often. My experience is outside the Venn Diagram of doctors' frame of reference. Doctors omit a main culprit!! I.E. this world is like Sodom cuz those ancient-elites used to chop the feet of those who didn't fit their beds. Likewise, corporatocracy imposes its "ideal" sizing systems, which those of us needing XW toeboxes or armholes, don't fit. Yet doctors fail to convey this to CEO's who are the culprits!! For decades i'm in excruciating pain. I can't count how many podi's i've seen, yet none helped, many are callous (and one damaged my ankle permanently even though i went there for feet, not ankles. He's the one who gave an expensive PedCat). I have severe SVI too, yet the FDA hasn't seen fit to approve Sonovein yet. Even Altra-Escalante which "barely" clears my Bunionette, is too narrow at midfoot, thus causes me Bunionettes at midpoint of foot. Also, Escalante's don't provide much clearance for varicose uppers. I can't even wear warm socks - their thickness make shoes not fit! Anyway size 9-11 socks are too long to fit me. Ditto re: gloves. I got bodywide poison ivy because gardening gloves were too long to fit my fingers.
