  • A test ride and review of the new Ducati Multistrada V4S, is it the new king of the adventure bikes? RedAng Revival finds out.
    In 2021 Ducati updated the Multistrada 1260 with an all new adventure bike. Now with a V4 engine it is the most powerful adventure bike in the world. In competition with the BMW GS1250 and KTM 1290 Super Adventure S, can the new Mutlistrada V4S take the crown and be the new king of the adventure bikes.
    It has all of the modern technology a motorcycle needs, including radar cruise control. It has the Ducati premium feel and character, with the full akrapovic exhaust system, a motovlog of the fantastic bike for on and off road adventures, the new V4 engine is a work of art.

    Just to let everyone know the exhaust isn’t 8k he was a new sales executive and got his figure a bit mixed up, the system is actually 2.4K and includes the up map from Ducati. :)

    I ended up with the 1290 SAS and I'm happy with the choice. This one was another for consideration, but taking into account the price alone, it couldn't touch the KTM when comparing the ride, specs, fun factor versus the cost.
    Manufacturers are trying to make their engines deliver power like a twin. Make a twin then! You can't beat that low down grunt and power delivery, especially when wanting to tour also. It encourages a relaxed ride. The V4 is nice though, admittedly, but it doesn't have as linear a power delivery and prefers to be wound up.
    I enjoy your reviews anyway, even though I don't think that I'll be changing bikes now for a few years. Or at least that is what I have told the wife...

      Thanks glad you like the reviews. Haha I would hang onto that KTM for a couple at least! Cheers

    It’s a great bike! Keep in mind, you’re riding w/ full exhaust which means it has the Ducati ECU tune to match, so 7-10 more HP at the wheel claimed, not that the STD needs more HP

      @@redangrevival Thank you so much! It is tempting to buy one of every version of every model. I want a desert sled for sure for more offroad, and a Multistrada with the radar, but the Panigale V4s has to come first. We have a racetrack we can rent per hour to get some full bore experience, and can enter amateur competitions too. I am desperately saving cash and selling unnecessary stuff to get one as fast as possible. And film and ride, and review it of course in many ways. I consider Ducati a bespoke bike, and since i own one, compared to all other bike i have had, including my Harley, i find the Ducati engine to be the most finely tuned bikes on the road today. Feels like flying an aircraft to ride a Ducati. The Multistrada fits my current needs more, but my taste for art and poetry in motion says get the panigale first. (Ducati review channel is mine)

    I have tested all the new big adventure bikes as well besides Pan America (still on the list) and this one is hands down the best. GS and SAS were kinda perfect too, but the "fun factor" was nowhere near the same level as with this one. Africa Twins suspension was somehow awful in my test bike..

    How does this compare to ktm 1290 adventure?

    • @redangrevival
      @redangrevival  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Good question!! Both amazing motorbikes, top of their class. Both have all of the technology you will ever need and also all the power you need. They do have different riding characteristics. The KTM being a V Twin is much more lively lower down the rev range and eager to go fast. Very agile and quick turn in.
      The Ducati is still very fast, but more relaxed/smoother power delivery and not encouraging you to go fast the whole time. Feels very premium and top quality.
      I would say the KTM is more fun, but the Ducati more grown up and premium. Hope that makes sense!!

    £8k for a full Akrapovic exhaust system! The dealer is having a laugh. Their mark up is insane. Must be a couple of years ago now, but the Baron v Grumble or maybe it was RJ said that the cost of a full Akro system for a KTM 1290 SDR or maybe it was a BMW S1000RR was £2.5k so based on this price, the price dealer has quoted you is just ridiculous.
    As for the bike itself, it’s a Ducati, depreciation will be huge, it will break down, break your wallet and break your heart like all Italian bikes and cars. I would even say even KTM has better reliability and a better dealer network. I think the KTM 1290 SA S and R look much better. All the competitor bikes look better. In fact all the contenders for best ADV title are now trying to copy KTM by producing an engine that sounds and behaves like a KTM twin.
    Anyway nice review Angus. The Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro is looking a pretty good buy. Triumph also has backlit switch gear which should be mandatory now and don't understand why all manufacturers don't provide it on their bikes.
    Do you have any tours planned on your Speedmaster? A Cornwall tour would be nice.

Such a great bike, reasonably priced and all you need for the road 👍 Also very much agree that backlit switch gear should be mandatory. Safety first!
      O yes, I am very excited 😁 Am working on some plans for a UK trip very soon!! Have the DGR ride on the 22nd May and then will be looking to hit the road again 👌 Cheers

    • @paolopuglisi8443
      @paolopuglisi8443 ปีที่แล้ว

      First: it was a mistake, the price of the full akrapovic exhaust is around 2,5k obviously not 8k 😂
      Second: This engine in particular is one of the most reliable on the market, it is not an opinion but a fact. Valve clearance control at 60,000 km! Try to find out better and you'll see.
      3- The ktm is a great bike, but the Ducati is no longer the same as it used to be, the fact that you haven't noticed it yet doesn't change things.
      P.S. Better to inquire before making statements and not making statements and then inquire.
      But of course being Italian and Ducatista I am not an objective 😁 (I'm ironic). Just to continue the fair of clichés.

    Exhaust price quoted is just WRONG--so there is that. $3000 in US dollars at my dealer--but backordered to infinity. I'll be coming off a Superduke GT and th PP will get me some of that bike's maneuverability with the 8.8 pounds lighter wheels and 17" front wheel. The race exhaust and mapping in Race mode will recapture some if the KTM Godzilla torque. They both depreciate like a rock and have "niggles". The PP is to me the best looking Adventure/GT tourer. If it turns out to be not for Mae--and my wife--the V.3 Superduke GT should be out and I'll switch back--at likely no additional money down, as the KTM will be about $8-9000 cheaper. But the Superduke GT IS ugly...... :). Maybe less so next gen.
