  • The new Ducati Multistrada V4 was released last year with great acclaim by the motoring press. But how does that V4 motor work in an adventure bike and does the 19" front wheel now compromise its sporty nature... Well lets find out!!

      Agreed. One of these day It would be nice for you to show us how you sink your sound and video with multiple cameras . I have a hero 7, Insta360 X2 and the One R that I have been experimenting with on my motorcycle. Just not very good at it yet. My goal is to eventually showcase local twisty roads in my area on TH-cam.

    Nice use of my BOC mate - I'll let you off the royalties this time ;0) Seriously, what a lovely bike eh? I can't wait to have a go myself and see if this can lure me away from the Germanic grip of the mighty Gelande Strasse!! Incidently, on the vicious engine braking on the Panigale and Streetfighter, you can play with the EBC settings ("Engine Braking Control") - I transformed my 899 by basically reducing engine breaking to zero...makes life much less intense! Great vid mate, looking forward to the Durdly Dawdle one.....

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your going to love it Andy! Yes I did remove all engine braking on the SF and still found it way too much... funny as the Multi has no option to adjust engine braking only responsive and comfort I think it's called.. It had slightly more engine braking than I would prefer but perfectly acceptable

    Servicing costs for BMW's here in Australia are at the very top end, and for some is a deal killer when considering possible purchase. One would also have to consider that the frequency of servicing for BMW's is designed to keep the workshop busy rather than keep the bike alive.

    Great review. You had it in Urban mode most if not all of the way through the video which on default settings limits the power to 110bhp. Get it onto Touring or Sport mode which give you full power.
    Also Urban mode puts the pre-load in one of it's lowest positions so the riding position will definitely not feel very sporty. If you put it in Touring the pre-load is increased and Sport even more so.

    Great review Chopsy!..I bought my Multi V4S last September and have completed just 900 miles - I luv it.!! Like you I am 6'2'' and 16 stone so have the seat in its highest position which is gives a really comfortable leg position. I find the screen quiet and no buffet in the high position, tend to have it in the low position for a fresh air. The V4 engine is soo addictive and engaging so I find it easy to forgive its thirst. Definitely the best quick shifter I have tried. Before making my purchase I test rode the 1250 GS, the V4, and the KTM 1290 SAS, all of them are great bikes but for me the Multi V4 wins hands down. The GS has the torque and economy but the Multi V4 has the engagement and exclusivity..

      Nice recap Mr. Al. Im Almost 6’2” with 34” inner leg and bum knee from racing motocross 40 years ago. How do you find the V4 S knee bend compared to those other machines, comfortable? Im currently on a 2017 Africa Twin with lowered pegs and a taller seat, so comfortable but looking for more street performance. However, upright riding, big rider triangle and knee close to 90 degrees and total comfort is my priority #1.

    • @bigal5895
      @bigal5895 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oldtimer3824 Thanks. The 1250GS and the Multi V4 are almost identical leg bend. Both had seat in highest position. Both bikes really comfortable for me but I am not carrying an injury like yourself. I would recommend trying a Multi V4 at your nearest Ducati dealer with the seat in the high position. It only takes a few minutes to adjust.

    nice engine works best as a 'Gettin Starbucks' bike. here in Asia the dirt roads would destroy this bike in couple weeks the heat, dust and rain and relentless rough terrain. Far too many delicate pieces of design work on it. To be a serious versatile off road option. It will handle the short gravel road from Cedric's barn conversion but after that its best putting back in the garage. The engine is the best bit, keep it on the tarmac stay away from dirt roads

    I don’t know if Ducati had to change the engine to get it to euro regs, if so, why are they less fuel efficient than the twin. It makes no sense. Lovely looking bike mind

  • @jamest5149
    @jamest5149 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Chops, you said a V4 is expensive and hard to service… as an ex bike technician and now owning a RSV4, the RSV4 is easier to service than nearly ever inline 4 and most twins… tanks easy to remove so is the airbox which gives easy access to plugs, air filter and cam covers to do valve clearance checks. It has really surprised me how easy everything comes apart and the quality of the fit and finish in general.

    I think the brakes are set nicely to the Multistrada and Tiger 900. The Tiger needs softer brakes because it’s more of an off-road bias, whereas the Multistrada is more on road and you want more bite. Both are nicely configured for the most common uses.

    Great review Chopsy. It sounds fantastic & the performance must be mental. However, for £23k they can’t even fit a proper front mudguard to stop all that crap hitting the front bank of the engine, & those cheap plastic clutch/brake fluid reservoirs would really wind me up if I spent all that money. And are you really sure those panniers should move about like that?
