  • Here we serviced the oil in our Sledge's centre differential.
    This really helps stop the front tyres ballooning!

      Need to check mine aswell. But I only got 1 mil diff oil at the minute, need to order some 20mil

    Clay carving tool is so perfect for putting diff lube in

      Yes I suppose it would, small flat head works as well

    I started getting a "diff grind" at full throttle but not on lower speed ups. When I opened the centre diff, I found exactly what you found - black thick putty and nowhere near enough to fill the diff. Looking forward to see what fresh diff fluid will do for mine too.

      It will wheelie even easier!!

    I put a set of front CVDs on the rear of my sledge due to them being 2mm longer and it seems to have fixed the dog bones popping out without having to use an o-ring. Might be worth a try

      Believe Traxxas are now shipping with the O rings, we fitted O rings to ours and not had a problem, but yes the CVDs are an option we will look at when we need to replace

    Have you checked your front and rears yet? Should be about 1M rear and 500k front I believe is most recommended. Love the vids and your track 😍👍

      I have just done this but put 1mil in both front & rear.

    I am a little confused by thick centre diff oil effects. On the one hand you have less diffing out and more more power going to the rear so you should have more wheelies. On the other hand the fronts should be rotating at a lower speed as it’s harder for the centre to diff out. Is that the reason you get less ballooning under full acceleration?

    • @TeamRC3D
      @TeamRC3D  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically yes. Power always goes to path of least resistance . So heavier centre will make it wheelie more but less front ballooning

  • @fredramsey
    @fredramsey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Will doing this cause it not to pop wheelies as easily too?

    • @TeamRC3D
      @TeamRC3D  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will wheelie easier as it will keep delivering more power to the rear wheels. So great if you want to make it flip or wheelie if driving normally then you just have to be a but easier on power. Wheelie bars are needed for this truck. Come on Traxxas when will they be available.

    I want to like this RC and keep going back and forth on whether or not to purchase. Sledge, Maxx V2 or Kraton 4S are the three I am choosing from. My concerns about the Sledge: price, motor mount, aluminum chassis. Not sure why Traxxas went with an aluminum chassis on this one. Metal chassis’s just don’t hold up well over time.

    • @TeamRC3D
      @TeamRC3D  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends what you are doing. Big jumps will bend alloy chassis

      @pewterngold I have both and the sledge is the way to go. I like it better than my xrt even. The maxx v2 Is the best for all around. But the sledge has so much power and so much fun. If you were to only pick 1 rc to have I would prob pick the maxx though.
