"NERD MODE: ACTIVATED, hold my beer..." proceeds to do a dozen flips, in a few different directions... So I subbed. Also need an XRT... But I like to bash my rigs stock til they die and then put shiny new parts in. So once it's stock electronics die, castle, I'm lookin' at you! Great vid, loved the in depth look. Not a lot of people do that. Honesty. If you like an rc, consider paying for it 3 times before you get it once... Learning, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades will eventually cost you just that. Now go, bash. Learn.
The xrt is on my buy list for this summer 2023! Hopefully I can make it happen. I enjoyed the video that’s a powerful beast you’ve built and it looks good. Also like being in the hobby shop in your videos it’s something different haha.
@@therclab.officialI hope so 🙂🇨🇦. What esc mount were you using I didn’t quite here if you said. I know it’s a carbon fibre one and you mounted it where the reciever box was. If you see this message. Thanks
Mate love what you've done with this build. Gonna go a similar route, especially as you've shown the drive train can take it. Loads of people have been stripping gears I'm running the HR spur and hardened pinion on my stock XRT and am yet to strip a gear in 2 months of bashing. Keep up with the great content 👍👊
I really like the way you have your set up, personally i would have taken advantage of using the sensor features of the motor with the XLX2. And it would have definitely went better with that esc rather than the Max 5. i would only critique the way you had the wiring because although people were successful with 5.5mm bullets or EC5 connectors, i wouldn't totally recommend them since those types of set ups draw a bunch of amps i would definitely use 8mm connectors. And Definitely not run an adapter! It adds more heat and creates more resistance just running an adapter. Overall really clean set up, can use some improvements but i like!
That was cool I have the 20 35 mod 1.5 on my x maxx and it's too fast. I'll definitely try the no risers set up with 1.0 gears. Maybe get it a bit more controllable. Been lots of trial and error, fires etcetera lol.
These types of cars are good fun, but you need soo many batteries to enjoy a good session, i have an outcast 8s and it EATS batteries like nothing. Im going back to nitro next, more maintenance but wayyy better runtimes. Cool video though!.
You know I don't understand the reasoning with people and why they would see the need to drop an additional $1,000 over the already $1,000 cost of the car. It becomes uncontrollable not to mention that that setup typically gives you issues when you start bashing on it like your gear mesh comes out of alignment. And I would absolutely go to mod 1.5. It's not that expensive made by Gpm and it's only $45. I will change my esc to a hobbywing max 6 when my stock esc goes bad.
hey brooo you should put here attaching a list of each component I am interested in legally obtaining the parts for my xrt it would be very kind if you could send me that list of the components please. 🙏
I like how he said mostly stock and wasn't going to run mod 1.5. That thing is far from stock. With over $800 invested over the retail of that truck it's not stock anymore!!!
Just put new motor and transmission plus computer in my civic but it mostly stock. New rims and tires too. Not going put bucket seat in cause it's stock.
Nice build. But why use the max5. Alot of people haven them just cut out mid runs. Should have thrown a XLX2 esc in it. Especially running the castle 1100kv. Mod 1 or mod1.5 doesn't really matter. You said you stripped the stock gear. Thats because traxxas stock gears are crap. Just need to make sure your running harden steal gears. Size doesn't matter. And the price sounds about right. The hobby is a very costly hobby. Since the manufacturers make them all with low end parts. To keep production price for them down. But not retail price for us haha. Just like my Xmaxx. I got close to a grand into my X. New scriber happy bashing....
The xlx2 isn’t particularly well suited for bashing. They’re more on road/speed run esc’s. Hobbywing is the exact opposite. Great for Bashing as they are more durable but, they aren’t great for speed runs. Ask me how I know. I went through 2 xlx2’s in two different vehicles and returned the esc’s. HW for the win.
I'm personally scared to buy this rig. Everyone in my area is calling it crap. People was selling it used after just purchasing it. I love the look of it and have seen it's weak spots threw other videos. I own a Xmaxx and a Kraton 8S as well as a Raminator. I wanna add this to my big boy collection but not too impressed with some of the things I have seen online. As to how you have installed the Castle motor. I have seen friends do this to a Maxx and it eventually give a bunch of major problems. With it being held down with a hose clamp. I gotta say though, your rig looks tough as nails! I am very interested in how well it does over time. Would love to see a video later down the road on how well it did.
There are some faults like the servo isn't more protected so i broke mine and looking at the servo case and mounts it looks to be very brittle but If traxxas made there servos in a flexible plastic like futaba servos then they'd be fine but for the money thats a draw back. I bought the standard servo adapter and a standard size 25kg servo but definitely needs a more powerful version it is abit weak. I also swapped the wing mount for a tpu one and its landed on the wing a few times and hasn't split yet parts are pretty cheap though. I was looking at a Kraton 6s but i don't like the way the motor overhangs the chassis and its mounted without support at the back so was looking for an 8s to come up but nothing much. An xrt popped up and i do like the way the motor in the xmaxx and xrt is protected and mounted. Edit: i also ripped a tyre but they are abit soft but then i was doing doughnuts. I got some louise mallet x earlier and they don't balloon which is nice
We have 3 xrt's and if you like the k8s you're going to love it. It's definitely been more durable overall. The bellcrank is a major weakness though! We also never used stock electronics but stock electronics suck on everything so yea.
@@hotrodlsc3025 what benefit is the 13/31? Are the diffs monkey metal? I changed the shock oil from 30wt to 40wt/50wt and got some stiffer springs coming as it does clap the chassis abit
@@davejohnson3474 the 13/31 is just like the 20/50 in ratio. It's way stronger. There made by gpm. The spur you can get here in the states but the pinion 5mm bore you can only get from China. I got mine from Ebay.

Should make a parts list with prices and add it to the video please. Awesome looking rig.

Where did ya get the black body and did ya paint the wing? Looks awesome.
The black body was given to Traxxas exclusive dealers to sell.
Kat painted the body. The wing comes in many colors. This is originally an orange XRT.

Xrt or xmaxx and why?
Did u buy all those upgrades at once or did u acquire them over time?
Don’t forget to factor in his employee discount. He probably gets parts for cost so 60-70% of retail price. Probably closer to 60% maybe less.
Do rc shop owners get to use the stuff for free or do they have to pay to pay for it
