Pretty sure the Freedom Trail is a real walking tour you can take in Boston to learn all about the events leading up to the American Revolution. As a Canadian I found it super interesting on my first couple playthroughs. I can tell you all about the importance of the USS Constitution when you get there. Old 'Ironsides'was a huge factor in helping you guys establish naval superiority.
1:48:50 you could use the barter system to pick what you want from him, then give him stuff you want to sell, just make sure the minus on either side is not more than the cap amount. That way you can make a purchase if you have lots to sell for something you want without having to find a dozen vendors to sell to first.

Basically only the chunk of the game that is required is from your first visit to diamond City to get Nicks quest, finding Nick, finding and killing Kellogg, finding Virgil and his questline up to building the teleporter. Everything else is optional. Everything else you do before and after is simply to get you to an ending.

fyi, Yes the green piplight is cool but its not the best as a functional flashlight. You can change the color of it in the settings. Bright white is best I find. You can also get a mining helmet with a headlamp. Changing the piplight also changes the pipboy interface color (but Im fine with white for it)

Im not 100% sure but i think when youre at the Pridwyn you can just get in a vertibird and have it take you without using a nade

It's very uncomfortable for the spectator who doesn't know the game if you run away while an important NPC is telling you story, lore and background information. During the Tradecraft quest, you ran away from almost all of the lore-relevant information that Deacon told you. You really couldn't find out anything about the Railroad passwords, the railway signals and their meanings, the information about the Railroad agents who died in the Switchboard and the background of the 10-millimetre pistol you received as a bonus. This running away can have its justification. For example, when Preston Garvey tells you for the thousandth time that you should offer your help to everyone. But when introducing new factions, it would be nice if you could learn some of the lore, and if you could stay close to important NPCs and listen to their dialogues or monologues.
why hasnt he used power armor once?
Along with the comment above, I also just have little interest in using it.
For your new viewers, the Brotherhood of Steel same as the show pick you up in a 'vertibird' which is similar to a V-22 Osprey that the US Marines currently use, and functions like a Blackhawk helicopter with door guns....not...
