Im not sure I agree with personalized vs home theater setup. I have both a ultra wide and a 5.1 theater speaker setup. I love that immersion i get from physical speakers compared to headphones. However while living with a roommate, headphones are close 2nd to gaming. I haven't tried plugging my ps5 into my monitor yet. But its nice to know Sony mostly supports it!
There was an update not long ago that made it possible to do 21:9 as, like, a downsampled 4K or something. But it was pretty recent. Does do a tiny bit of stretching like seen here
It depends on the monitor settings. Fit will add the bars at the sides, stretch will stretch the image but things will look a bit wider than they should.
there are special needs for SUPERULTRAWIDE 4k and 240hz... you need true 80GBits Cables which are Never longer than 1,4meters... because of the limit copper can transfer... you would need a fibre cable :P i know there are only 2 Monitors and 2 AMD GPUs that support that special resolution...
Какая тупость. Не работает ультравайд на пс5. Автор намеренно игнорирует растяжение по горизонтали. Видео - просто глупая реклама кабеля который ни на что в данном случае не влияет.
@@Frenchie_user I don't think you will regret it. But, for monitors you will need to sit close. Also, monitors will have high refresh rate. From 65 tv to 34 monitor wont make sense. Atleast 49 or 54 ultawide, impossible to regret.
Great video, honest review. Also tested some games on my brothers ultrawide. Slinging with spiderman was not that stretched. But GTA omygod franklin looks fat and cars look flat (but that game is 10 yrs old). I just don't know what to do. Should i go for ultrawide and hope for updates for support or should i go for normal formats (16:9 i believe)
Hey buddy. No you won't have black bars on the sides because just a few months ago sony released an update where it now supports this screen size without having black bars. Happy gaming my friend! The games will look kind of stretched though so watch out for that 👍
Hey just got a MSI 30” monitor to use with PS5 but have the black boarders - have changed screen and video settings and performance in saved date - any advice please?
That's normal, the PS5 don't support ultra wide gaming monitors, only 16:9 default TV aspect ratio. I don't know what setting the creator of this video is using but his aspect ratio isn't right, it's stretched out. I hope Sony will think of us ppl out there and support ultra wide monitors later on. Not all people play the PS5 on a TV.
shit, i don't have a normal monitor, i have an LG Curved ultrawide only which i use for my job, I didn't knew it's not natively supported on PS5, looks like i might need to connect it to my TV which is not gonna be comfortable
I skimmed through the video so not sure if you answered this but what is the exact resolution? I have an ultrawide and I’m only getting 1440 and not 4K. Does ps5 not support 4K on ultrawides? Mines 34inches
@@kwisatzhaderach999 still nothing, if you want play some ps5 games with ultra wide, there is only 1 way - play at PC in ported games, they support ultra wide monitors
Yeah, i also don't understand why they don't just apply (true) 21:9 monitor support .. This is where PC shines as PC has nearly every game running with a 21:9 support(except some ported games). PlayStation could add a 21:9 monitor support the hardware could handle it. I don't think it would be rocket science to make this possible. But other than the aspect ratio "problem" PlayStation and Nintendo are still there on the gaming "battlefield" as they have very entertaining stuff.
In this day and age of gaming, I'm honestly surprised there isn't a setting in the PS5 specifically FOR curved/ultra wide
Agreed 👍
Agreed also
Needs to be especially with PS5 pro coming out

I’d never stretch it. Looks horrible that way.
I thought the ps5 cant be played on a ultra wide monitor with an aspect ratio of 21:9 without having black lines on the sides.

@Seantubes that's nice. Hopefully playstation will eventually fully support ultrawide
@@Seantubes Yeah its stretched that's why he didn't mention it and skipped over the whole setup.

He does talk about the stretch.
Cables don’t matter as long as it can support 2.1 don’t over pay for cables

Can someone tell me how to do this cuz my Alienware ultrawide doesn’t do this (has black bars)

Why would you want to game with a squashed image?...
Just because of no ultrawide support, I am not buying ps5.
All games on actual ultrawide is just wow.
Will wait for games to be released on pc.
That’s why i play on TV 65 » OLED. I was thinking for a setup 34 » but im scared to regret it

As long as it’s not supported, don’t recommend ultra wide monitor if you want the best console gaming experience.
Hey I am 11 years old and I was wondering will I have have black bars on my ps5 cause I want this monitor for this Christmas

Sadly I cant find this monitor anywhere. Anyone able to recommend one that will do a similar job. the BenQ MOBIUZ EX3410R is way too curved for me
i have a 2560x1080 montior
and is 30 inchs
but when i play with my ps5 the game is too stretched
unlike my pc which looks normal
pls help
Me too
Idk why but it doesn’t look bad to me at all and I’m also a pc gamer I wonder if it because I don’t play in 4k

How did you manaage to get it full screen?
Are there any good curved monitors that I could use for my ps5 that anyone could recommend?

It doesn’t
Is there still an issue with stretching?
Ofc, i think it will be for a long time. We need to wait for official ultrawide support

Great video thanks. Have you tried R6 by any chance?
Yhh I wanna see how that looks on ultra wide too
Yes, I have. It’s a similar experience to COD. Little bit of stretching.
Will 21:9 work on Alienware ultrawides?
It works, But it doesn’t look good
I can't believe the PS5 doesn''t support 21:9😭😭💀💀
Death stranding supports ultrawide on ps5. Has anyone tried if it stretches the image
It fakes ultrawide by removing the top and bottom edges within the game itself, but as far as the PS5 knows, the resolution doesn't change at all.
All hdmis are the same stop lying about this nonsense for price gouging
still prefer using my PS5 on my 42inch LG C2 OLED. And using my Alienware 34inch ultrawide for my PC games.
😐😐😐
Thats exactly what im about to do except i have a g2. Waiting for the alienware to get here
if you have an lg c2 then you're just set for life bro... like thats the dream display everyone wants, what more could you ask for

Does the 8k hdmi help with 1440p compatibility?
No as it's not 8K but it will be future proof
Stretched. Your circles are ovals
It's streched.
Ff7 rebirth looks like shit on ultrawide lol
The PS5 doens't support ultrawide, thats why look so ugly
Me playing dd2 looks like hobbits game
JUST EAT THE DAMN ORANGES
That stretched crap looks awful.
absolutely 😬
Good thing it’s not your setup. 🤙
stretched..
Fake, no 21/9 on ps5
You can change the aspect ratio and stretch the picture
