Just to note that HDMI 2.2 was just announced recently. The specification should be completed sometime later this year. Hopefully just the connectors need to be updated.
This is the best cable since sliced bread I definitely need this cable for the long run of my surround sound in my theater room. This is an ingenious invention this will definitely cut out the lag in sound that I’ve been fighting with for years and I will never have to cut my ceiling again.
I've been keeping an eye out for a solid solution for the issue we're having with to long of an HDMI cord going from a computer to projector at our church. Thank you so much for making this video. I believe that this is the solution to our problem! 😊
Wow, I thought it wouldn't work. I don't have a dedicated theatre room, I'm renting. With that said, this cable would be great im my use case scenario because it's soon thin and I can route and hide it easier. Recent fan by the way. Love your small bedroom theatre . Keep up the great content. Sincerely, a new subscriber.
I just upgraded and future proofed my cables with HDMI Ultra High Speed 8K! You can't win. It's like the old joke that asks "what is the definition of an obsolete PC" and the answer is "the one you just bought."
@@GeorgeTheaterAtHome It's OK, I'm used to it. I bought Betamax over VHS. Then Betamax went out and I bought a very expensive Zenith VHS, with stereo! Future proofing of course. I am using a fixed end HDMI Fiber cable from my TV through my wall to my receiver. The run is about 18-20 feet and it works great. These cables your video are awesome. I love that you can replace the ends when it is time to upgrade. I need this in my system to help future proof the cables. We use similar cables at work in our conference rooms.
HEY GEORGE! I was literally just researching 50ft/15m cables on Amazon as my last copper 15m hdmi cable has had some latency issues. I’m mustering up the courage to get back into the ceiling of my living room home theater to do some more cable runs as soon as I find the right cables - THIS LOOKS LIKE THE ONE! Thanks for your uploads as usual! Nickolas (USA based address).
Getting ready to upgrade my surround system in my 28ft family room ! Theses sound great . Thanks for educating us ! Had know idea these things existed .
I’d use this for my sister and brother in laws new home. They will finally be able to have a dedicated room in the new place. It would be a great housewarming gift for them! My rack is only ten feet from my projector, so I don’t have a use for this cable. Looks like a great product.
The OptHDMI 300mA port on the back of your projector is specifically for plugging the USB power into for fibre optic HDMI cables. That will free up the other USB port if you end up using one of these in the future.
This looks like a cool HDMI solution. It would be cool to win one of these, but even if I don't I'm planning to buy at least one. If I'm lucky enough to win, I'm buying one, if I don't, two. One cable for my theater and one for my game setup in my 2-channel/game room. I just broke the fiber HDMI I had been using, so I need a replacement. I'm having fun with this channel
Thanks for the walk through. My current theatre in the living room (7.1.4) has ARC issues due the length of the HDMI cable (35 ft). And it was a pain to get through the conduit due to how stiff it is. Thanks for the solution.
Appreciate the installation and demonstration. I will get one at some point. I would not be surprised if there comes a time when computers transfer info completely through fiberoptic means.
Great review. I’m currently building my first dedicated theatre room. I just bought a 98 inch TCL. I would love to pair that with my Panasonic UB9000. Keep the great videos coming.
Currently building my home theater and have a 20 ft stretch for the cable to go. This technology would be a great addition. Recently discovered your channel and really enjoy what you’re putting out.
About to install my first projector to replace the TV in my home theater. I’ll be needing to make a long cable run and this HDMI looks to be exactly what I need. Thanks for sharing!
Was looking for the best option for an hdmi cable for my new initial home theater setup. Fiber Optics is also something that I was looking into. Enjoy your videos. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
Oh man, this would be great in my home theater to be. I'm moving my equipment out of a spare bedroom and into the living room. Planning on getting a Espon LS12000 soon too!
Will be upgrading and future proofing all my HDMI cables here before long. They've been in the walls too long and I'm not looking forward to it. Setting this up so I may never have to go into the walls again would be a big relief.
The removable ends is nice. Definitely will make it easier to fish/pull through Smurf tube / conduit. The Fiber is definitely a good upgrade for my Home Theater. Great Videos, keep them coming……
This is awesome. I've been wanting to move my receiver etc. to a closet, not very near my TV in my theatre room and this would finally allow me to do it.
Was going to redo the den and fireplace and run cables through the wall for a tv to built-ins on each side of the fireplace. These cables would be perfect for going in the wall and being hidden with ends that I can replace as standards evolve in the years to come.
Id love to have that as a FINAL upgrade to my home theater. Maybe this will stop my system from "blinking" whenever I go from TH-cam to Netflix (or whatever streaming source) . Technology changes so fast and going thru the ceiling is getting old just as fast. Good video!!!
That blinking is a result of your display having to adjust to a new source type. If you have an AppleTV you can change the setting for “match content” and it should go away.
I’m completing my basement home theater finishing my drywall now. Planing on running a 7.2.4 when completed. It’s all wired up including Ethernet. Plan is to run a 100 inch OLED. Thank for the opportunity. Great home theater content.
I recently upgraded from 1080p to a 4K projector but I haven't yet upgraded my old 30' HDMI cable that runs through the walls and attic. This looks like the way to go.
I definitely could use these type fiber optical to hdmi cables on my Denon 7.1 Home Theater AV system. I'm already using a fiber optical cable for audio for some of my stuff. Thank You for reviewing this and sharing ❣️💯👍
Awesome video as always! I am closing soon on a new house and will have my first proper home theater!!! I am beyond excited as I have had just a 3.1 setup for decades. I've bought my first projector jumping in on the Valerion Visionmaster Kickstarter that I found out about from AVS Forums. This fiber cable would be fantastic option to connect the projector to the AVR. I have never have had to worry or think about a long HDMI run before as my AVR has always been close to the TV so this will be interesting ;). Thanks for the great content!
@@GeorgeTheaterAtHome I think have researched, and mulled over, and back to more research, etc, this more than any other project I have ever done. I am doing it all myself and going all out (within reason of course). It will be a 9.1(4).6 setup using DIY speaker kits. I think I have an addiction here and I dont even have the room yet!?
Oh, I was going to ask @GeorgeTheaterAtHome do you notice a big separation and balance difference between your larger theater, and how sounds presents in your smaller room you just did the series on? My room will be thinner at 12' wide so I am a bit concerned about the outside seats being too close to each respective side surround speaker. It is what it is, but just curious how much that really impacts the experience. Thoughts?
With a room 12’ wide, I would limit your seating to only two seats wide. If you try to put 3 seats on the same row, you will run into issues of being too close to the Side speakers. But if it’s only 2 seats side-by-side then you should be good. Good luck with your project, sounds like a fun one!
In our old house I ran a big, fat HDMI cable and had to position the PJ where it would reach. In the new house I’ve just got cables dangling down the wall. Something like this would be great for being able to relocate the AV rack into a nearby closet.
Thanks for your videos, I've really been enjoying them. I am in process of building a home theater and this would be great to run from my AVR to the television. Thanks!
Thanks a cool idea. I have something similar setup but not with replaceable ends. I do have cables ran into the wall and it is a pain to re-pull cables. This would be a great use for this issue. Thanks.
Have a basement home theater on one side of the basement with a large 4k/120 screen. A kids lounge with a 1080p projector on the other side of the basement. I'd use this cable to send the second video out from my primary receiver over to the projector on the other side of the basement so we could 'simulcast' the same videos during large parties/gatherings.
Great review and information provided, very interesting innovation to support upgrade paths for future HDMI specification revisions, just by replacing the HDMI ends. I would use the new cable to prepare for a 4k UST projector in the front of my theater room running back to a closet behind the theater room.
I'm putting together my first home theater and have been really stuck on how to physically separate my source from my display affordably. This would be perfect!
I have an older 25 foot HDMI cable routed to my projector through the drop ceiling. I have been wanting to upgrade my HDMI cable to a newer version so I did some research. Due to the length, I've been wanting to upgrade to the fiber optic HDMI. I even put one in my "list" on Amazon, but due to the price haven't pulled the trigger on it. Would love to be selected!

I had no answer for why I was getting this delay from my HDMI cable. This definitely should correct my issue. I look to upgrading at some point. I would think that the quality and the sound from the cable should be better also!
Very nice video of this type cabling using a Fiber Optic/HDMI connections for TV’s, Monitors and numerous other possibilities. Thinner cabling would make weight of the cabling more manageable. I wonder if they also make Short runs for Computer monitor to PC GPU connection and then there is DISPLAY Port Connection that could come into play with this technology. I could use that cable! Working on a home theater with a projector and screen in a finish basement. Only wanna have to cut walls and fish that wire through once! 😊
Really enjoyed your video and setup. What is the aspect ratio of your screen? Looks like it’s around 2.35:1. Ruipro really has their act together! Who’d have thought we’d have a toslink-like hdmi cable? Truly digital. Im running the Optoma UHZ65 and have had issues with my 25 foot hdmi cable wigging out every once in a a while. I’ve had this projector for almost six years now and am very happy with it. I’ll bet it would really shine with a Ruipro cable. Looks very well made and that snap is definitely positive when plugging the notched cable end in. I noticed your acoustic panels too. Sure would be nice to check out your theater. Looks like you’ve got it dialed in pretty well. Cheers!
8K-capable means nothing btw. Makes it sound like you don't know what you're talking about. 8K up to 30Hz (24Hz is needed for movies) can be done today on HDMI 2.0 with 4:2:0 chroma sampling at 8-bit color (SDR). What you wanna look at are the bandwidth numbers. How much bandwidth does the fiber cable support? The LC fiber I use for my Ethernet is rated for up to 100Gb, but I use it at 25Gb max. I figure if I wanna upgrade in the future, I won't have to replace the fiber, but that's because the fiber cable is rated at a fast speed. If the fiber is only rated for 48Gbps like you said, that's the max spec of HDMI 2.1. HDMI 2.2 is 96Gbps, so this cable would need to be replaced. That's my point. I'm not sure the max specification. If I'm correct, this UFO cable comes from Celerity. If the fiber goes up to 1000ft, it might be rated only for 48Gbps. My OM4 LC fiber can do 328ft (100 meters) at 100Gb (about the speed of HDMI 2.2). But OM4 is also used as multimode fiber, which reduces the distance you can go. If the transcievers have lower nanometer light, then they can go even farther! I don't really know what I'm talking about with fiber other than the fact that I've done some runs at home and use Fiber for DisplayPort to my Valve Index headset and HDMI for my PC.
I love mine. However, Fussing with the power cable part of these is sometimes annoying when you don't have enough USBs nearby. I wish the power cables were longer out of the box but, of course, that's an easy fix.
Nice video. I'm looking to upgrade my projector in the theater room (Panasonic 1080p circa 2009) to a Epson 5050/6050/11000/12000 this winter (the only time you can get in the attic in Texas) and this new cable will come in handy as I have to replace the 25 foot HDMI 1.3a cable that is currently run in the wall. This looks like the perfect solution. (Winning the giveaway, even better). This helped give me direction in my research. Another question is why couldn't you use the dedicated HDMI Optical USB input that was on your projector for these types of cables? Was the connection different? Did it not provide enough power?
The biggest challenge is that the HDMI spec is always about 2 years too late so when they come out with the new standard the technology has already passed it.
I’m currently building my theatre room and have a long run. Was about to purchase a cable and will now purchase this should I not be selected. Thanks in advance.
I have a longer run in my setup and was always curious of these fibre optic cables. Is there any noticeable change to picture with using these types of hdmi cables?
I am planning putting a projector in my living room, but have to run up the wall and through the ceiling and then back down another wall, I hope this works.
I have been into Audio Video since I was 7 years old. Taking apart mono radios and adding additional speaker for '' Fake Stereo " I'm now 66 and still enthused over anything pertaining to this subject! I built my Home Theater recently and am having a problem with my projector signal going in and out. I already know its the length of the HDMI cable. My Theater room is 20 ft. wide by 45 ft long so my HDMI cable is about 30 ft long. I have a Denon Avr and my Samsung TV is Input 1 and my BenQ projector is Input 2. No problem with the Samsung TV as the HDMI is only 6 ft. long. But when I switch over to the BenQ signal goes in and out. This cable would really rid me of this problem I feel. Thanks!!
I love almost everything about this EXCEPT the physical fiber connection. It's been a few years since I worked in data centers but I've NEVER seen that connector. Other than SFP, SFP+, etc. the most common connector I'm aware of is LC. Going WAY back, we would have seen SC, ST, FDDI, etc. Am I just out of touch or is that physical connector basically locking you into RUIPRO products in the future?
The MTP fiber connector is currently used in many applications, including data centers. www.fs.com/blog/a-comprehensive-guide-to-mtp-connector-958.html
This video has answered a question that's been nagging at me for a fair minute now. I've just recently decided to try my hand at making a cinema room for my home, (got in on the Kickstarter action for a Valerion Vision Master Max), & I've been wondering what the best means of connecting to it would be, once it was mounted on my ceiling. I figured there might be issues attempting to run an HDMI cable beyond a certain length, but wasn't sure what other options would work given the port selection available. Suffice to say, problem solved.💯🥳 Absolutely in it to get my hands on one of those fiber-optic cables. Fingers crossed.🤞
I have like 15ft from my cheap projector to my soundbar, so this would be perfect to tidy things up, especially when I will be updating to a 4k60 projector soon! Yeah im outside the USA unfortunately, but thanks for the tips!
You could replace your existing fiber hdmi cable with this one. You could also use your existing fiber cable with the Ruipro HDMI ends as long as your fiber has the MTP connectors on each end.
We're not gonna need to worry about hdmi 2.2 for years. Atleast that's what I tell myself staring at thousands of dollars worth of hdmi cables 😂 idc if they're not better they look awesome. Bed o snakes behind my equipment. This is a great idea tho...thanks dude

I'm a believer using fiber optic cables for long runs. When I upgraded my projector I bought a 35' fiber optic hdmi cable, the handshake is flawless.
I do the same. As a matter of fact, all of my cables are Ruipro. I use them even for short runs. They work.

I could use that cable! Working on a home theater with a projector and screen in a finish basement. Only wanna have to cut walls and fish that wire through once! 😊
I'm in the process of building version 2 of my theater. Such bad timing with the new spec being announced and I can't run a conduit unfortunately.
Just a thought fiber for speakers for short distances
Funny, I just bought a similar-looking UFO fiber cable for my sister when she moved this month 😆.
Cheers!
I’m rearranging my HT set up and am putting my equipment in a closet 30 feet from my display. This would be amazing.
Yeah, without a nearby usb power source it may be a bit tricky. But like you say a longer cable is an option. Thanks for watching! Love your content!
@GeorgeTheaterAtHome Thank you my friend!
In the process of building a new home theater and want to go fiber this time since it will be further from the rack!
I need a long run for my Kaleidescape in an AV closet to the display.
Not all cables are created equal. These look like they won't go out of date.
The HDMI cable that I have right now is losing signal sometimes. this cable should fix all my problems, thank you for the review.
I have one HT 7.2.2 Onkyo Rz50-Klipsch in my livingroom, and I want to setup another one in a other room like you did with yours
The biggest challenge is that the HDMI spec is always about 2 years too late so when they come out with the new standard the technology has already passed it.
What about band width issues. HDMI pure doesn't have this issue but introducing optical seems to be a problem
Excellent! Been looking for a reliable fiber optic cable after a few issues with another brand.
My church has been using a wireless HDMI setup and always has interference , this would really work good!
I’m currently building my theatre room and have a long run. Was about to purchase a cable and will now purchase this should I not be selected. Thanks in advance.
I have a longer run in my setup and was always curious of these fibre optic cables. Is there any noticeable change to picture with using these types of hdmi cables?
No noticeable change. It works perfectly.
Thanks!!
Sounds like a long run! This cable could really help you solve that problem.
That should be standard for all cables
Just started having problems with ARC I think this cable would take care of this problem

Those don’t look like standard fiber termination ends though. Thats what would bug me about this specific kit
They are standard fiber MTP connectors

I would use it in my rack that’s located around a ton of cables including my pre pro and amps!! 🎉🎉
Suffice to say, problem solved.💯🥳
Absolutely in it to get my hands on one of those fiber-optic cables. Fingers crossed.🤞
I like the cable. I would be great to connect a tv for my mom.
Could use it to connect a gaming PC to my home theater
I have like 15ft from my cheap projector to my soundbar, so this would be perfect to tidy things up, especially when I will be updating to a 4k60 projector soon! Yeah im outside the USA unfortunately, but thanks for the tips!
If I had an existing fiber cable run would there be a way for this to work with that?
You could replace your existing fiber hdmi cable with this one. You could also use your existing fiber cable with the Ruipro HDMI ends as long as your fiber has the MTP connectors on each end.
I have a gaming PC on the other side of my room and I would love to use it with my Sony TV and PC so I can do some couch gaming
Just moved and I’m building out my theater again. This would be nice to not have to re fish HDMI cables in the future.
Great video! I’ll use it in my theater. I have a 36 foot run that keeps dropping signal been looking for a solution.
We're not gonna need to worry about hdmi 2.2 for years. Atleast that's what I tell myself staring at thousands of dollars worth of hdmi cables 😂 idc if they're not better they look awesome. Bed o snakes behind my equipment. This is a great idea tho...thanks dude
