I'm really appreciate that you covered this subject of different body constitutions especially in regards to Ayurveda. I have some base level knowledge on it and was really interested in your thoughts. My constitution is Pitta and I'm a Flamboyant Natural, I even have red hair 😅. I may be a bit Vata leaning though. My boyfriend is Kapha I think, I used to think he is Soft Natural because he has so many of those characteristics, but when I heard about the importance of height in Kibbe, I figured he must be Flamboyant Natural, because he is too tall and clearly a Natural. He was really disappointed when I told him about height cancelling out Soft Natural because he loved being the type. 🥺 he's super into Kibbe too, it saddened him.
So back to Ayurveda, my boyfriend sometimes cooks recipes from Ayurvedic cook books but even though we may be the same Kibbe type, our ayurvedic constitutions are very different and so very different foods make us feel balanced. We basically eat the same things, but they make us feel different.
When I noticed that the types of Ectomorph, Mesomorph and Endomorph align with ayurvedic constitutions, it really stood out to me how in the ancient tradition of Ayurveda, the goal is achieving balance for optimal health and longevity while in the Western constitutions, the mesomorphic type is idealized because the goal is achieving a muscular and fit looking physique. I wish we could get to a more holistic view of health and bodies.
Having such a holistic approach is what I deeply appreciate about Aly. 🙂

I feel like Vata symptoms are very similar to hypothyroidism. My dosha is Vata, & turns out I have Hashimoto’s. If you think your dosha might be Vata, please get your doc to check your thyroid. It makes such a big difference.

Pitta vatta here. I am on and off hypothyroidism. I stopped taking the meds because my body told me too about 1.5 years after having a baby and I’ve been balanced for 1.5 years. I know when I need it which is great. I know hashimotos is more intense. Sending hugs!!

When she was describing Kapha, sounded like she was describing me, and I'm a hypothyroidism patient since 16 yo. It's wild how hypothyroidism simptoms can get so rudiculous as to the point of being opposite from patient to patient suffering the same illness. (Sorry about my english)

I've often wondered about the possible correlations between Ayurveda and Kibbe, so it was fun to find this video! Of course the two systems serve two different purposes, but it's fun to explore the possibilities. I am most likely a Pitta-Vata and flamboyant natural. Not sure how applicable this concept is, but it's fun to explore the ideas!

  • @rayv5417
    @rayv5417 2 ปีที่แล้ว +39

Hmmm interesting. I never thought to combine the somatotypes and the doshas, but now that you mention it, I can see it tracks. I think I am a flamboyant gamine (maybe) and a pitta vata dosha. And a meso-ecto type. I suppose that all lines up quite nicely!

This is really cool. I grew up with basic knowledge of Ayurveda, and I had an ayurvedic doctor in the south of India when I stayed there for a few months. He really helped me get my health back on track. He told me I was pure vata. I do have elongated limbs and a small head for my body. I have thought about being dramatic, but I just never felt I was sharp enough or tall enough for it. I do consider myself am endomorph, because I can gain and lose weight and build muscle. I've though a lot about the connection between the body types, Ayurveda, and Kibbe, but I haven't figured out out for myself yet.

  • @shashi.dhankhar
    @shashi.dhankhar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Amazing video, really well done Aly! Ive grown up with more or less an ayurvedic vegetarian diet but i only learnt about the dosha system few years ago but i feel i have a very good grasp of it so i actually follow these rules in my personal life. I have a major Kapha dosh and minor vata dosh so try to eat like a Pitta person.
I wanted to add another point about the hotness and coolness of the good like certain foods warm your body up while others can cool it down. So kapha people should avoid cold foods like rice, yogurt, cucumber etc they should also avoid oily and heavy stuff like eggplants, kidney beans chickpeas, black gram etc Avoid stuff that is heavy to digest, oily and cold and dont indulge too much in sweets and desserts.
For Pitta you should avoid spicy, overly oily foods, junk food instead prefer foods that cool you down like yogurt salads rice and stuff that doesn't take too long to digest.
For vata you need to avoid food thats too light, dry and cold so try to add more spice and oil or ghee to your diet, you can eat heavier stuff like chickpeas and kidney beans, lentils, legumes.
First thing you have to do is balance out the major dosha then you can incorporate the foods related to that back into your diet with a twist for eg if you have kapha dosha you will avoid cold foods but once you feel you're doing better or missing cold foods you can introduce them back like with rice you can add whole spices to it when u cook it and have it like that so now the rice wont be as cool for your body.

@@nectarshrub From 1990-'92, I was on a teaching exchange, where I was treated like royalty. Yes, most Japanese people don't have a lot of room to store things so they don't buy a lot of stuff. They buy high quality so they can keep it forever. And their traditions are respected and valued.

This is really exciting. I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. With doshas, astrology, body type etc. Ive even compared and contrasted enneagrams, Jung’s archetypes, movie characters, Steiner’s theory of temperaments and Anthroposophic medicine. I really enjoy looking at all systems that involving typing of some sort, in a connected way. And comparing and contrasting them. I love that you did this video!!

I have heard of the elements but I didn't know there were systems. Interesting and I will look into it. I think I'm vata and kapha and I am soft gamine which makes sense. I like the idea of having an expert give their typing and compare the Libbie body types. Celebrities would be a good example.

I finally came to the determination that I am SD. I am also Pitta-Vata but I tend toward Kapha imbalance. I am very, very Kapha imbalanced right now. I do tend to have a good bit of muscle and I have wide shoulders but slim hips. Fine, but thick hair that is not red, but has a lot of red to it. Definitely a romantic type, with a small waist when not imbalanced, but definitely not Romantic of Theatrical Romantic.

Wow this is amazing, i knew about ayurvedic body classifications and i was very surprised how even kibbe classification sat so right with me. I am vata dominant and vata dominance causes the body type to be a certain type depending on where in the body vata is expressing. For e.g. vata causes body to be a lil petite, hair is wavy, etc. And in kibbe i am theatrical romantic which is also about some similar things. And m so surprised to come across this video. Anyway so those who had probs thinking this is belief system it's actually about how the body digests and assimilates food. If while assimilation excess of juices are released it causes kapha dominance, excess of bile is pitta dominant and excess of gas is vata dominant. Which causes the body to develop in different ways. Everybody is dominant in one, and when it is balanced well it causes people to express unique great traits. Vata dominant people for eg can think a lot are creative, i am in research field.

Hi, Aly! This topic is so interesting! I did some research and found I'm Vata dominant.
I saw almost all your videos about kibbe body type and I'm still not sure about what's my kibbe. I'm between flamboyant natural and flamboyant gamine (so crazy). But I'm 1,69m and it's not that easy to look at myself having that objective perspective.
The point is I'd love it if you make a video about flamboyant gamines and their influences. After studying I learned that there are "2 types" of FG, one with more natural influence (like Penelope Cruz and Tina Turner) and one with more dramatic influence (like Audrey Hepburn). Not all FG are dry like Audrey, some of them look like "mini naturals", and maybe it's the reason why I'm confused about my own body type.
I feel like FN lines (long dresses, for example) make my head look bigger and weird. But at the same time dressing like Audrey (everything more skinny) looks a kinda suffocating in my curves. It's funny, like I have some tolerance in between natural and FG lines, but I don't think I look good in only one of them. My body is mixed: long thin hands and feet, long arms and legs, short torso, but a big head. I look short in pictures but tall in person, hahaha
Anyway, I think it's a rich topic to explore in a video, I hope you do it. Thanks very much for all the amazing content you share ❤

I always thought it was weird. I get hot easily but can live through it, it wakes me up, while the cold makes me sleepy but I am more relaxed with the cold. I always crave Sour things, sometimes sweet and salty randomly. But when I am not feeling good sour and spicy things really help me. I am a very sleepy person and talk fast and can have burst if energy and then become drowsy and slow. People see me as a happy and cheerful person that is relaxed and pretty calm most of the time. So Vata and Kapha suit me the most huh?

This is an amazing coincidence! I've been following your channel and I just went to an ayurveda workshop this weekend and I actually thought of this kind of overlap between the dosha and kibbe types, and how interesting it would be to find the blueprint for each type. I always felt I have a lot of yin, I'm mostly kapha and Romantic/Theatrical-Romantic.

It does makes a lot of sense. I am so intrigued. I am Romantic, with good athletic ability and works out/dance routinely. According to your description, I have significant earthy water and spacey air, very obvious. A little bit fire, not 0. No matter how much muscle I have, I never look muscular, so true. I have to have fresh air, otherwise I feel stickiness in the air.

I have always perceived myself as a natural, my height is 164 cm, but people always think I’m smaller and look like a child

I'm a meso endomorph (predominantly meso musculature with some endo softness). Kibbe type is undecided but either natural or gamine. I got loads of Bs and Ds. Some a but only for face.
    Stand 5'0 tall however.
Anyone can point me in which of the 2 kibbe types I'm likely to be?

I really appreciate your videos thank you so much for making them! They way you explain things is so encouraging.
Would you consider doing a video aimed at transwomen? How to soften and feminize appearance or even how to embrace more masculine aspects... Id love to hear your opinions. Could also apply to females who feel they look too masculine for the current beauty standards.

Definitely a vata/pitta had professional help with that. That being said I grapple with Kibbe SN or TR. I'm short but look taller, small frame, short waisted large breasted but chest and back narrow. Ornate, crisp and relaxed fit look disproportionate

Well I am Dramatic and I can already tell from watching this video that I am mainly Vata. I am very similar to you in being cold all the time, loving hearty soups and those spicy, musk scents. I do lots of type of exercise but I always need to include yoga in my routine to help with my anxiety and mentally ground me. I am going to do more research about this now. Thanks.

Aha a topic I know well! I too got involved in Ayurveda a few years ago and have books on it. It was very interesting and useful to me and I hope to go to a ayurveda retreat in India one day. Those teachers have an Eastern outlook on health which is neglected in the West by our doctors.
