Drummers like myself have this to get better sounding responses whilst recording, etc. if you have 1 pedal with 2 beaters on 1 drum, depending on how your bass drum is tuned the head may not have enough time to fully “reset” per se between hits. In short, it just sounds better due to every other hit being on 1 drum,as opposed to all of them on 1 drum.

Some people use the second bass drum just as a place to hold the extra toms.
