@@richardforbes943 The S series is pretty new, do you mean that a cymbal needs to last 20 years to be good? I'm happy if I get 2 years out of every $100 i spend on a cymbal, so imo @ $200 that S ride would be a steal if it lasted 5 years, or 1 worldwide Slipknot tour.
They are the extension between you and your drums. When you set up your toms and cymbals, the distance depends on the length of the stick. If you don't get good rebound from it, it can really mess up your playing and sound. It might sound pretentious but it's so so important to get a good quality pair of sticks!

Check Mikkey Dee's video about his mic configuration. He's been doing this for years, putting his mics inside his toms and has a video explaining it. Same with Ben Harclerode when he was with whitechapel. He's got a video talking about his internal tom mics too.
In the late 80’s/early 90’s there was a company called May EA that made internal mics for drums. For some reason they never caught on with main stream performers. I remember Omar Hakim was an early endorser. I’m not sure if they’re still around.
He's always going to live in Joey's shadow but Jay gets so much shit. He's so fucking good and technical. IDGAF what ANYONE says. Jay was/is the right replacement for Joey. It couldn't have been anyone else.

I just saw them in April at Knotfest Cleveland. It was an amazing show, so amazing in fact it fired me up to pick up the drums again after 15 years. My kit should be here tomorrow.
technically Joey is still on earth so i won't agree with that but he is my favorite living/breathing drummer. *who's still doing music because Chris Fehn is my favorite favorite.
I love the half moon clip racks with custom mounts, probably saves at least two hours on each end for set ups and take down. A more rock solid set up, less chance of stands moving during play.
I bought a 20 inch S Rock ride a coupla few years ago ( at the time it was my biggest ride, now I have three 20's 😂 ), and that's definitely one of my favorites of all time too.
I LOVE the fact that he had to READ some of the specs!! That's totally ME!!! I don't know the exact sizes, types of wood, or science behind a bunch of my drums!! I just know they look, and sound GREAT, and are very well made!! LOL 😄
I always thought jays cymbal choices sound weird with slipknot. I actually use A customs myself but the paiste cymbals that Joey used are so ingrained into my head
i don't like the design of paiste, and i don't perceive so ''MUCH'' difference between jay and joey's cymbals and drum kits. Its all about miking and engineering. That's why iowa have the best drum tone of all time.

It’s nice to see him use his single pedals on both of his kicks. Unlike before and tons of other players who set up a double bass set up, only using one bass drum with a double bass pedal. I guess the shallower kicks truly are easier to manipulate on a live set up mix. 🍻🍻🍻

My fav way of controlling kick drums of any sizem, is to use 2 mics. Put the inside one as close to the beating head as possible without being hit (I like a Beta 91) and put a oow cut on it at around 1500Hz. Then an outside mic about 5-10cm from the reso hèad (my fav is a Sennheiser e602) and put on a high cut at around 120Hz. Depending on drums and taste, play around with the cutoff frequencies and even the mics...
Love how he plugs both of his signature snares but is using neither this tour. Look at any footage: at the lugs and the depth is 7 or 8 inches. Sounds like an Oriollo bellmaker.

I've been a huge fan of Jay's sound and mix over Joey's since his departure from the band. But, Joey's chops and his snare pretty much can't be rivaled! Not saying Jay's chops aren't phenomenal but there was that little bit of extra sauce with Joey's chops. All in all both are/were incredible drummers and easily the perfect Slipknot drummer/s!
@@dEAthlikEstAtic Big difference in hearing just the drums as opposed to the drums with the band. I'm a drummer. I love hearing the kit isolated to hear how they're tuned and sound by themselves.
I wonder if he's under contract to play a kit that massive. all of his stints with other bands he's played 4 piece kits, sometimes 5 if he included a second floor tom.

I love Stagg gear. I had a china cymbal which was double figures but it sounded exactly how I wanted.
