Riley Chidley Kinda yes but not really.His kicks are triggered but the trigger sample there using came from those kicks so it is his actual kick.Also it’s not 100% triggered,it’s about a 50/50 ratio between trigger and natural sound.(Incase you’re wondering how in got the information,he did a Q&A where he talked about it.)

This boy is A MONSTER. Not better, not worse than Joey. Jay is tracking his own path and deserves ALL THE BEST.
Honestly, I think Joey's main strength was as a songwriter (being responsible for a lot of their early material along with Paul) but I've seen Jay just jamming and I think he's a more interesting drummer. Always felt that Joey's drum solos were a bit dull, mainly just riding that double bass, but I'd love to see them incorporate some Jay solos

I like the earlier stuff better and like Joey's drumming just as good maybe better because the music was better. Loved the double bass he incorporated too. This guy still is a great drummer so all is well.
Why is everyone still comparing Jay to Joey? Totally different drummers and if you ask me Jay has far better technical ability than Joey. Let's be honest Jay probably looks up to Joey since Slipknot is his favourite band and we as fans should be grateful to have an outstanding replacement.

Jay is amazing. I know people always wanna compare. Jay to Joey . Jay has his own way of doing things and to me he sounds Awesome. Great timing and very precise. Great job Jay.
No kidding the great Eric Moore commented good to see you active man. Well said Joeys got his own chops but jay just brings another beast to the music and you can hear it.
To be honest, I think his feet lack alot of precision in this video. Especially the changes from 16th to 32th sound quite sloppy to me. However, his snare game is marvelous. But Unsainted maybe is not the best song to compare the skill of a drummer as it is quite straight forward. I would like to see this drumcam on eyeless for example. Or Before I forget. Those are a bit more complex at the drum section.

@@ryanbovine I was not about to compare Jay to Joey as I think their drum styles are very different. However I agree on Joey being way stiffer on the drums. That never seemed to hinder him though. It was just his style and he achieved more with it than just solid drumming. Joey not keeping pace however was nothing I experienced so far... But I will investigate on that.
Not so much. Joey when I was a kid was the etalon of drumming, every1 compared every1 to Joey, but now that I'm 33, I see that Joey was not that good of a drummer. There are hundreds of better and more skilled drummers out there... It does not mean he's not good, it just means he is far from the best, and imo Jay is not as good as Joey. So theres that.
This was just my opinion, and people change, so maybe in the future I'll think differently, but now, this is my opinion.

I had the privilege of seeing slipknot with Joey, it was the most painful awesome experience. Jay is a phenomenal drummer with a jazz drumming background. He's built for slipknot.

I think it’s just a case of “mirroring”. All the same people who talked shit about replacing Joey are starting to come around, and hey that’s me too, but I’m not going to pretend I was on board from the get-go. He’s just a different dude, different drummer, and has something else to bring to the table than Joey. There’s no ‘better’ or ‘worse’ here.

Probably not much tbh. He'd probably lose a huge amount of water through sweating though.
The constant movement of your upper and lower body that is required to play the drums results in a steady burn of calories during the activity. According to data from CalorieLab, a person who weighs 185 pounds will burn about 252 calories during an hourlong drumming session. (First hit from Google ^^)
But metal drumming is a bit more intense, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was more.
Honestly depends on if they were playing more Iowa era stuff, which they normally do since that's their most popular album. Joey used to go running daily to keep his stamina to be able to play that insane double bass stuff during the Iowa tour, so, I'd say that's a fair few hundred calories at the least

This guy is absolutely exceptional. I have always been blown away by his playing. At this level, there is no best, there is only a difference in style and feel. I wish Jay the best and look forward to seeing the band with Eloy.
Its awesome being able to only hear the drum mics at this live concert. You can hear the rest of the band and live crowd gently bleeding threw the drum mics. It gives you a feeling of what it would actually be like playing those drums. Shout out to the mixing engineer on the drums, they're magically delicious!

So it's mentioned on the radio when they're giving the Weather report of what the sea is like, and I've heard it a lot when fishing the River Esk, and going down to England. It's just weird since I've listened to Slipknot since 1999, and now they've go a song named of somewhere I've spent time.

I wonder how Jay controls his wrists on the snare like that. His snap to the rolls are so impressive. I can do it too, but not that fast. His rythem is better than mine. I have a slight hesitation on snare rolls and control. But Jay shows me the way. It is exhausting, to be a Heavy Metal drummer. But I may keep at it. If I get a good job and get a nice drum set, that will pump me up.
@AdmiralOddSock Well that boosted my ego a little bit. Heavy Metal drumming comes to me fairly easy even on a $4 dollar piece of shit drum set. I am not as good as Jay, but I am still pretty good. I actually find it funny when other people try to drum and they are so bad at it. But I was a Techno Dj for a long time, and I noticed I have a talent for "Feeling the beat." It was gods only gift to me, which is unfortunate, because becoming a professional drummer is highly unrealistic. I am not very good anything else I try to do, like computers and stuff. Yeah, I watched the Motley Crue movie, and they portrayed Tommie Lee dumb as fuck. If the movie is accurate Tommie Lee was a moron. I like him, but aint so bright. Lars seems to be smart and Jay. I some stuff about Jay and his dad Max, the guy seems totally cool. Lars on the other hand is mean, from what I gather. I am kinda stupid so that makes sense I am good at HM drumming...hahaha.
It’s actually scientifically proven that the drummer is actually the smartest member in the band I play a bunch of instruments including drums and guitar and I can say it does take lots of practice to get anywhere with the instruments I’m not saying that guitarists are dumb tho I just learned how to decently improv it just takes hard work and determination keep at it

Because of the fandom. Ten years of blood, sweat and tears dedicated to Slipknot, and all he got from the fans was criticism and comparisons with Joey, whether he was as good as Joey or not, how they, the fans, missed Joey, etc. Few, if any, recognized Jay's talent or dedication to the band. Honestly, I think he endured this situation for too long. And I hope Corey replaces Jay with a laptop, because that's what Slipknot fans deserve. And given the recent direction Slipknot's music has been taking, I think that option is quite realistic.
@@DuodecimaHAedificareI don’t think that’s the reason to be honest. The fans love Jay, as evident by the uproar at his firing announcement. I suspect it is something similar to what happened to Chris Fehn as the wording on the band’s announcement was eerily similar.

Jay IS a beast, and he has done an outstanding job in carving his own niche in THE KNOT......BUT......while he has his own style, IMHO, he doesn't have the same "energy" as Joey did. By that I mean Joey was a more.....animated, if you will. But hey, to each his own. Jay has his style, and it fits. RIP Joey. We miss you.
