  • The John Deere 4066r tractor is the largest hydrostatic tractor offered by John Deere. This particular 4066r is equipped with an H180 quick park front end loader, skid steer quick attach bucket, factory cab with air conditioning, heat, radio, front and rear wipers, electrohydraulic third function, 4th & 5th remotes, and hydraulic top and tilt 3 point hitch.
    This is my dream tractor and is loaded up with options, has tons of power, plenty of loader and 3 point capability, and it's really hard to ask for much more out of a tractor. It isn't perfect, but I like most everything about it. I've only had one problem to date as well which was a minor one at that. In today's video, we'll go through my impressions of ownership to give you an owner's perspective. If you like what you see here, then would you please consider subscribing to my channel? Thanks for taking the time to stop by and have a great day!

    Your question about ueh but it is a v not a u and it is the hours the tractor has been driven. So you can see the hours the tractor engine has ran, the hours the tractor has been moving and the hours the pto has been engaged. And no pto and ueh do not equal your engine hours as the pto can be used in both stationary and in motion. Hope that helps.

    This video shares a lot of things I’ve been wondering about on these newer 4R series tractors. I got a 2017 4044R at around 600 hours and it’s a great compact sized work horse. Once I found out they make bigger models with factory optioned rear hydraulics that really perked my interest! Thanks for the video!

    My guess is vehicle hours is hours spent moving, so usage time of the transmission/drivetrain. Would make sense to have separate from PTO because there are uses for the PTO while stationary.

    Getting in and out of the cab while using your forks is an advantage to the skid steer option you spoke of in a different video. With a skid steer, you can't get out of the cab if your boom is up and have a load hanging on it. Even if you could you would be in an extremely dangerous situation under the boom. One of the main reasons I went with the tractor over the skid steer. Have you thought about a camera for the front to be able to see forks and bucket work? I'm mulling it over. My 5075e has the same problem, especially when you're trying to do finesse things around. Fork tip and bucket edge visual ability goes to the skid steer big time.

    I've said that many times, there really should be a shock on the right door. Trying to install 3rd EH SCV, 4th and 5th SCV, constantly putting something to prop the door open is a pain. Also, John Deere should offer a mid PTO on the 4 series tractors. We set up quite a few tractors with front brooms and snowblowers but they are all on 3 series. The only way to put a snowblower on the front of a 4 series is with the long frame underneath and drop box with shaft running to the front. Thanks for your videos. I really enjoy them.

    I have a 4720 that I purchased new in 2009 w/Cab and backhoe attachment with all of the bells and whistles(And I mean all of the bells and whistles) including the extra hydraulic on loader for the 4 in one bucket and the maximum number of hydraulics in the rear. I agree on the right door not having a pressurized piston to hold the door open. Two things that bother me the most is the air ride seat doesn't hold air(Everytime I get in the tractor I have to air it backup) and the hydraulics bleed down(The front bucket and backhoe will not hold their position) and my 4500 was the same way. By the way, I just rolled over 200 hours and the tractor has never been rained on!!! LOL Oh, I forgot about the loader joystick lock that my knee constantly hits and locks the joystick. Like you said, it's not the end of the world!!

    Nice post Courtney. I agree with your assessment. I have a 4052R and visibility of the loader, and forks, both low and high is an issue. I was wondering if you’ve heard of using a Dakota Micro agcam(with monitor in cab) toward the front of the tractor or on the loader? It seems like it would help. Maybe you could test that out for us....hint, hint. Also, you were talking about getting in and out of cab, I also notice that the parking brake seems to be in the way. If it were positioned higher it would be better. I guess if I set it every time it might not be as bad 😉. Thanks again, enjoy your posts.

    My loader control on my 2006 3720 Cab is FAR superior to all the new loader controls. Mine is a straight stick with a small knob.. very smooth and intricate with low effort. My father-in-law and my best friend both have the newer 3039 and 3046 cab units. Their loader control is so tight, and it puts your palm in a position you have less control over. They both have flaking paint issues on the metal of their 2 year old machines, and of course my big gripe, they need a self leveling loader on the 3 series for fork users.

  • @matthaasen
    @matthaasen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Regarding the stiff/jerky loader control, I have searched many a forum for answers. After coming up empty handed, I decided to do something about the stiff loader controls on my 3039R.
    This has been a problem that was bugging me for some time. I had broken my arm 11 years ago, and it's never been the same. I have limited strength in my arm in the "dump" direction so I went on a mission this weekend to lengthen the lever. I had previously tried to lubricate the cables, but the fact remained that the lever was too short. I added about 9" to the lever. It looks a bit quirky (kinda like a modified shifter in some 18 wheelers I've seen), but the ease of operation has improved substantially. I can't say I was ever able to rest my forearm on the armrest when operating this before (too much force was always needed), but I am now able to feather the controls in all directions. I own a lot of construction equipment where pilot controls and shorter strokes are the norm, but for my purposes with this tractor, it was a welcome modification. I'll tie wrap the cable to the control after one more coat of paint.

    Vehicle hours is clock hours it has run.
    Engine hours are based on rpms. The engineer has designed the engine to run at a certain rpm that usually at PTO speed.
    If you run above this the engine hours turn up faster, and if you run below then it is slower.

  • @malloyneil40
    @malloyneil40 ปีที่แล้ว

    yes lower rpm will cause more soot to build up in the DPF. That and low idle is not good for the engine and will cause carbon build up in the valves and in the pistons.

    That is to be expected with a tractor that the engine is in the front if you want perfect vision buy yourself a forklift but if you need to see what you were doing with your forks on your tractor install a camera up there then all is well. Just a simple camera like people who go camping a lot and pull trailers have a camera so they can back up to the trailer hitch you can do the same on your pallet forks mount a camera up high to where it will be protected but it will always give you a view of what you are doing with your forks down low.

      IF memory serves me correct, there's a lever / button that allows the operator to adjust that function mounted on the seat. But I'm not sure if all air ride seats in the cabbed tractors are equipped with that function. You may have to go to a larger series john deere for that option. We had a 7410 john deere with that function.

      John Deere normally lists this information in the loader manual. For the 4r Series, you need well over 2,000 lbs of rear ballast/counter weight. Watch this video for more info. th-cam.com/video/Vq2vf_6qcpA/w-d-xo.html
