My dad just downgraded from a 4052M to a 4044r. More loaded with features, but less HP. Unless you need the PTO HP, go with the less expensive machine. They all have the same frame, similar lifting capacities ect. Mine now has almost 1000 hours with only one shop visit for a emissions sensor. I will say other brands offer more "features" for less money. But JD is known for reliability.
Nice review. It took me 7 months of research before I pulled the trigger. The amount of features on compact and utility is staggering. I went into my JD dealer all set to purchase the 4052R loaded with the understanding that PTO hp is the only reason to go with the 4066R. You are spot on that you will run out of traction LONG before you run out of power. 7 months of research went down the drain when my salesman said he had a 5075e on the lot with a cab and would only have to add a few options to get what I needed for 5k less. SOLD. I wish I had a 2 or 3 series as well as the 5 series gets big on some jobs. But oh boy way more power, and way more loader capability. The 4 series would still be my choice if I didn't get that screamin' deal on the 5. Good balance of power , capability, size, and weight. I also had to forfeit the hydrostatic tranny which I really wanted. Love my rig though. Again, great insight on the tractors' hits and misses. Dan from Montana.
Yes it's always been confusing why the much larger 5 series is cheaper. The 4 series seems to have more bells and whistles, but the 5 series is more capable for larger jobs. The only reason I didn't go with a 5 series is strictly due to the fact that I was not willing to compromise on a hydrostatic drive. The ease and convenience of a hydro tractor is something I just can't live without. I do so much mowing and light loader work that the instant forward, reverse and being able to easily vary my speed is a must.
Hey Daniel! After owning the 5 series for a year, how do you like it? I am between the 4066r and the 5065e, both cab and loader set up. My concerns are the 5 series is too big for daily maintenance but would like to go with 5 series for the initial work load of clearing land when I build. Thanks
Thanks for the review Andrew. I have been a John Deere guy my whole life. Our farm in Iowa is 224 acres and I still have 4 John Deere's. 2 of them are classics that have been on this farm for over 50 years. I bought a Kubota back in 17 because it fit my needs better than the Deeres of that size did at the time. The Deeres look like the engineers sat the operator down in a chair at the factory and built the tractor around him. Everything is designed with the operator in mind. John Deeres dealership network and parts availability is second to none. I buy a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff at my local dealers each year and when I go to any of the local dealers, I won't get both feet in the door before someone gives me a "Hi Gary" shout out. Very good review.
As crazy as it sounds, my biggest turn off with Kubota is that treadle peddle. Other than that, I think they make great products. For all the mowing and loader work I do, I find the separate forward and reverse pedals are far more comfortable for me.
@@TKCL , I got the gear drive. Not a big fan of hydrostatic in tractors. I told my dealer that I have been grinding gears for over 40 years, I guess I can grind them some more. Agree on the treadle pedal. If they made twin touch pedals an option, I bet they would lose the treadle rather fast.
Great review! I purchased a new 3 series a few months ago to mainly cut the field. Took me about 30 mins in the heat and dust to realize I made a huge mistake not getting a cab. Today I ordered the 4066R without even seeing one in person yet. This review was great and I am excited about getting it! Thank you
Night and day difference between the 3 and 4 series. A lot more power and stability. If I remember correctly, I believe the cab is the same on both series tractors. Enjoy that new cab tractor, one of the best purchases I've made.
it was a really good review. And you were talking about how the AC didn't recirculate, and then you started talking about how there are only two speakers. And it hit me. I have been riding on top of an old open station Kubota for like 20 years now. I felt even sadder at that point in time. hahaha
Very good review. Thank you so much for your time. I bought a JD 5055E brand new in 2015. I have 112 acres and my property used to be a camping ground about 40 years ago. So I use my tractor to plow my huge yard in the winter and in the summer I used it to maintain my roads and I use the brush cutter and use the forks from time to time because I have a woodworking business. I used to cut my trees and make my own firewood but now I heat with propane. One of the biggest reason to buy a big tractor was to make firewood but like I said I don’t do firewood anymore. My biggest regret is that my tractor doesn’t have a cab and I freeze in the winter when plowing my yard. I will sell it this summer and buy one with a cab. Not sure yet if I will buy the 4066R or the 5075E. Sounds like the 4066R might be adequate. Also I’m interested in a self leveling loader. Any suggestions?
They definitely offer the self leveling loader on the 4066R. Snow plowing should be no problem for this tractor either. As far as loader lift capacity, the 5 series definitely will lift a lot more, but sounds like that won't be a problem. FYI, I've been able to lift a 1000lbs more than rated on my loader. You will absolutely enjoy the cab, it makes a tremendous difference in the enjoyment of operating in inclement weather. One huge reason for me to get the 4 series over the 5 series was the hydrostatic drive. If you have never operated a hydro tractor, I highly recommend it. It makes the tractor a dream to operate mowing and using the loader. I'd get the 5 series for heavy ground engaging equipment or farm work, the 4 series for mowing and general duties around a hobby farm. You will find the 4 series more nimble too. I think you will be happy with the 4 series with what you described. Hope this helps!
Yes I think your right that the 4 series will be adequate for me. And yes I noticed my tractor is not very nimble and the loader seems too big for my tractor. Thank you soo much for your advice. In the spring I will go see a huge JD dealership 4 hours from where I live and will try the hydrostatic. Cheers 🍻
Thanks for taking the time to do this honest review, Mr. Kelly. I've never purchased a tractor before and your insights from real-world experience as a past and current owner of John Deere equipment is much more valuable than any product promo video. I've recently become a land owner here in Michigan and I just finished building a 1/4-mile long road in to where we plan to put our home. I'm primarily interested in pulling a box blade to maintain the gravel drive but our land is heavily wooded and very hilly so the bucket and a set of forks will also round out the duties of moving logs, dirt and large boulders as we harvest some of the trees for milling on site and for firewood. I spoke with our local JD dealer last week and plan to visit a Kubota dealer too. I recently rented a Kubota skid steer and it was a very nice piece of equipment so I'm wondering how their compact tractors compare with similar JD equipment. Do you have any thoughts on this?
I think they are very comparable and you can't go wrong with either one. My biggest turn off with Kubota is the single treadle peddle for forward and reverse. I find it very awkward to use. The other feature I really like on my John deere is that hookup assist. It's so handy being able to operate the tractor from outside instead of jumping up on it back and forth while hooking up. A quick hitch would help this situation with either tractor, but those are not compatible with all equipment. Get the most power you can afford and I highly recommend hydrostat drive for ease of doing most homeowner tasks. Thanks for watching
I have b series kubota much smaller then this..., I think sometimes details of the machine may cause problems down the road. my example is engine oil plug located above bar holding front loader. in order to drain oil you need to make big mess..., otherwise you would love to service your machine more frequently. so my advice is to check for access for all filters, plugs etc. forward reverse on kubota is also a pain. kubota was cheaper, great machine but over the years the diffrence of 1000 or so is not big deal if machine is very practical and masterized in every single detail. for you application I am wondering if 4066r is wide enough, i found those tractors are very powerfull with hydraulics and engine but frame and size does not come along and sometimes it will make a machine too tippy..
Nicely done review. Thanks I appreciate it as I was looking at the 4066 and a dealer had a great deal on a 4052R with cab that someone ordered all loaded up and failed to take delivery. Has electro 2rd function with 2 additional remotes, power beyond, top and tilt, air seat, deluxe grill, 3 point down pressure, 4 in one bucket etc. Far more options than I would have ordered and the deal was too hard to pass up. I wondered if I was missing the additional horsepower as I had a 4610 previously. It was good to hear your view on that and I’ve found it to have plenty of power. I really like the tractor and have noticed the same things you pointed out. BTW the top and tilt feature (that I wouldn’t have ordered) is very handy and couldn’t be without the 4 in one bucket. Thanks again, and I’ll be checking your other videos.
Sounds like you got the fully loaded model with all the bells and whistles. I don't think you will regret at all going with the 4052, it's a very capable tractor and you got some nice features to make up the difference.
Outstanding video! Thank you for your honest opinion on the 4066R. As of last week, I started the process to upgrade from my current JD 2032R to the 4066R. You may not need the heat in your cab in Florida, but up here in Nova Scotia, Canada, the snow and winds off of the Atlantic can make for a chilly experience when blowing snow with no cab. Wishing you and your family all the best in 2021. Regards, Gary
Thank you for watching and the support! I've actually been running the heat a lot lately (20s for many days), coldest winter in Florida in years. There is no comparison in the power difference you will see. I went from a John deere 3720 (44hp 3 series) to this. It was a night and day difference on stability and pto power difference. In your situation it'll be even more impressive.
Excellent video - I was thinking of buying this Deere. I lived in Florida for 15 years, the vented cab point I totally agree (and the lack of aircon recirc).
New to the channel, but really enjoy and appreciate the content. You've gained a new subscriber and look forward to binge watching your past videos and seeing new ones as they get posted.
Real good review , i am borrowing a new JD4066 for a test week at the end of this month. This explained what to expect. Much appreciated that you uploaded this video
Man thanks so much for the info. Best review I've seen so far. Just started shopping for a new tracker to replace my dads old one. We have about 50 acres to bushhog and would love to get a more powerful one than he has to pull a bigger mower. His current tractor has 41 hp pto and he pulls a 6 foot blade. I'm wanting to get something that will pull at least 8 feet and it sounds like this will fit the bill. We also live in the south so I was glad to hear the AC on that thing seems to get the job done.
Nice honest review! Me and my dad are looking into buying one in the near future. As of right now we have a used 20 year old john deere 1070 with a 440 loader and it is been realiable ever since we've bought it.
I realize this is two years ago, but far as your seat goes - don’t worry about that. I have the older version of your tractor, the 4720 with the self leveling loader and almost all the same features ( minus and DPF ), and I got 1645 hours on mine ( it’s a 2010 model ) and the seat is still perfect. In fact almost all of the tractor is still perfect. I did bend in the mesh on my front grill cause a branch caught it - but it didn’t damage anything. I do like where the battery is located on your 4066 opposed to the 4720 cause mine sits right at the front under the radiator. If you don’t like your hood you should see if the 4720 is a easy swap cause it opens straight up in one piece with the lights and grill. One thing you didn’t touch on at all was the loader and the bucket - Deere’s factory bucket is very flimsy steel. The CX400 loader is supposed to be rated to lift 2500lbs to full hight - it certainly will not lift what it’s advertised for. Mine will lift about 1600lbs, maybe a couple hundred more but definitely not 2500lbs - it can’t lift a full pallet out of the bed of a truck. Overall great review and I’m happy that you like the tractor. I am very happy with mine. Only had to replace my water pump at 1635 hours - knock on wood nothing else has gone wrong with it. Air is still ice cold and other then the 3pth being overly sensitive - it’s a great tractor that I use commercially. I build roads with it pulling a 8 foot box blade, do forestry work with it and plow snow in the winter ( I’m in eastern Ontario Canada ). My only complaint is wish it had a bigger fuel tank.
I'd strongly suggest you check the stainless inline hydraulic screen on the side of your frame. They are known for plugging and causing hydraulic loss. I've lifted up to 3,000 lbs with mine about 3ft in the air. I can easily lift the rated capacity and over, although I do feel like it's stressing the front axle. Something sounds off with yours.
The right hand door is only for use in emergencies and that’s why there’s no step. It would be difficult to get in and out because of the control panel and the pedals. It’s only an option to escape if you should tip over on the left-hand side. Talk to your dealership as they may be able to figure out a solution to mount a gas track to your door. My dealer installed a short stack exhaust and a 40° throw gas truck instead of a 70° gas track for the back window since my arms are short as well as a couple of tabs on the side panels for easy removal and a couple of brackets and a flexible radiator screen
I seriously considered a 5 series, they were actually cheaper than my 4 series. The number one reason I didn't get a 5 is because of the lack of hydrostatic drive. I mow a minimum of 8 hours a week in the summer and nothing beats the convenience of hydro for mowing or loader work. Instant smooth forward and reverse with no clutch or shifting is a must for me.
we have the air ride seat in the 8400 from 1997 or so that have that air seat... has over 11000 hours now and the only thing that has gone wrong with the seat is the little plastic bushings... i would say its super reliable... we have the same seat in our 8520 and almost 8000 hours and no problems... don't worry about the seat.. it will last..
Great video, very honest. Not having Cab room is annoying. There are a few differences between the US spec ones and the rest of the world ones. My 4066R came with Bluetooth and full remote set and 3rd function on loader stick. I added E PTO aswell it’s a nice feature. Keep up the great work
3rd function and E PTO are something that I want. I run a chipper and a mower a lot, I think E PTO would be a great feature to have. It's about a 1000 dollars to add on so I'm a little hesitant
I have an air ride seat in my backhoe that's 22 years old with thousands of hours. 3 months ago I had a 1/8'' airline harden up and crack. That's the only problem I've had.
Auto throttle is awesome and so is load match and even though it has been match, I never used the speed match. The roll out feature which allows you to adjust how quickly the tractor stops his nice if you go from fine turf management operations to dirt work, but I never used it for rotary cutting
I really enjoyed the video. My biggest compliant about my Kubota Grand is the seat. I wish it came with an air ride seat. You can add one for $1,000, but for the price of the tractor, the air ride seat would be nice. The window vents are nice on those Spring/Fall days.
Best most honest review I've watched yet! I'm looking to buy a tractor in this size range and your video was very helpful in my decision. Thanks from South Carolina!
Your welcome, most people feel compelled to praise something because they bought it and paid good money. I don't feel that way, nothing is perfect. Overall I trust John deere reliability and that's why I own them. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review, very helpful. getting ready to buy the 4052r with out a cab and this was some good insight. Cant wait to get it and put it though its paces. Thanks
I really appreciate the honest review. I am by nature a JD guy as I grew up with them on a rice and soy bean farm, and have owned a few. However, I recently bought a property that came with a Mahindra and now I am considering whether I should keep it or trade for a different brand. I have a preference for JD, but have been looking at Kioti brand. I don't want a cab, even though I know it has advantages, but just like an open cab.
Spot on review, I'm agreeing with you on this. I have a 3720 09' model and they did cheap out on a few areas for the cost. That tool box thing is a problem that I haven't solved yet either. Love the tractor, I imagine other brands have their own problems.
There is no perfect tractor, however when the competition is thousands cheaper and has more features it gets you wondering. With that said, I own a John Deere because when I turn the key, I feel confident I'm getting my work done for the day with no problems. You have a awesome tractor, I miss my 3720 sometimes.
@@TKCL on that quick hitch thing, I have a few Impliments that I built and you have to tune them to fit the quick hitch. I went with the extendable 3pt arms, they work for me.
@@johndeno562 I have custom built equipment too and several pieces would require serious modification. The extendable arms are nice, but the hitch assist still gives you the ability to raise and lower the 3pt from the rear. That's helpful sometimes, especially when unhooking from trailers with heavy tongue weight. Not something you have to have, but I love it.
Me too!..... But don't be fooled, the John Deere AC isn't powerful and has no true recirculation of cold air. The more vents mean nothing in an extremely hot day. I always feel a little lacking.
@@TKCL he had a 5085E before the kubota and it had plenty of A/C. Not sure it has recirc or not. I think the kubota does and it gets just below comfortable at best
OUTSTANDING VIDEO! I'm looking to buy a 2017 4066R with 1145 hrs. An 80 yr. old man bought it new and is wanting to sell. A couple of the outside cab lights need replacing. The interior is equivlant to yours. Water comes out of the AC vents somewhat. He says when the filter needs changing that happens. I was hoping there was no leak in the cab. There was none that I could see. One more question is what would be a good price on this tractor? It has 6' frontier brush hog, 6' loader, and 6' TRS box blade that doesn't even have the paint scratched on it yet. No dents, it has been parked outside. I would appreciate you or anyone else that could help me with what it would be worth.
Sadly I can't even take a guess as to what's a fair price. The market is so out of whack right now due to covid aftermath that things are going for far more I could imagine. I'd look into the water in the vents, I've never experienced that before.
Quick release would be a nice addition. As much as the 4 series costs, you would think that it would have every option. The 5 series is the better buy, but I absolutely wasn't willing to NOT have hydro. I love hydrostatic drive!
Great tractor review and beautiful tractor! Horsepower is impressive for subcompact. I enjoy your mentioning of detail for us viewers. Not up to date on the newer series of Deere’s or the technology. I prefer the older John Deere tractors and equipment, but we all still support the brand. Unfortunately I’ve never ran a tractor with an enclosed cab. Can you still hear your equipment run? You know to detect a problem with an implement or anything? Just curious about that. This 3020 John Deere was my late fathers. He bought it new in 71 so I’ve only run an open station tractor and used to hearing the equipment. We dairy farmed in the south Louisiana heat with this open station tractor so a cab would’ve been great! Great video, y’all take care! 👍
You can definitely still hear the equipment or changes in tone to detect a problem. However it's quiet enough in the cab to make it comfortable. I sometimes miss the sounds and smells of a open station, but a cab sure is nice in the heat and when bugs are out. I love that you are keeping the family tractor around to use and enjoy.
#347 here let's go n grow our channels! Nice deer. Looks like nice property congrats!. We are northern Michigan here. Sometimes I would love the cab. You will be up to 500 before you know it. Good job!
Enjoyed the review! We are getting out of farming with hay and cattle, so a smaller tractor like this could be in my future. The fender mounted controls for 3 point are pretty common on larger tractors, and they are very nice to have. I'm surprised that JD is one of the few to put it on the smaller machines, but I love that it's there. I am sort of curious if the brakes pedals on the LH side of the steering column ever trip you up and you're trying to get in/out of the cab. I looked at one of these in person a couple of weeks ago and it looked like the brakes would catch your feet every time. The purposely bent parking brake handle also seems rather goofy, but I get why they made it that way. Appreciate the in depth review!
Yes it does, it just does not have true recirculation and a damper like a car. It would be nice to recirculate inside air only when working in dusty conditions around a fire, or to get the air even colder.
I've had 1.5 million miles on an air ride seat. Dad has over 3mil. Never failed. Only ones that did were outside the truck from, salt, uv, weather change, dry rot, etc. Never on a seat.
Yes dealer reviews are too biased. You'll get the truth from me, just because I paid a lot for it doesn't mean I have to bend the truth to feel better. Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
I’m thinking about buying one myself. A new one or a used 5065r, but I’d really like to have a cab tractor. Looked at a Kubota MX 6000 today. It was really nice it just seemed really stripped down as well.
Thinking about a 4066R but read a comment in another video about how poorly the R model (and M model) bush hog due to inadequate cooling that requires frequent stops to blow out intake grills. Just wondered if you've had any similar experiences. I know you said that you mow a lot. Wasn't sure about bush hogging.
Nope, and when I mow it's up to 8 hours at a time. A few breaks here and there for lunch and something to drink. Now with any tractor, I strongly suggest that you always blow the radiator fins out after heavy mowing. Mine has yet to ever require a cool down after two years of heavy use.
Never even sat in a tractor. Just purchased 80 acres in northern maine. Like to bush hog some, use for snow blowing driveway. Have a chance to purchase a 4520 JD. Any advice?
Yes for sure, but at that point your really stressing out axles, bearings and seals. I have estimated I've been able to consistently lift up to 2500-2700 lbs, that's well over the rated capacity and plenty for most tasks.
I wonder if there is a way to make the air conditioning recirculate? I have a 2038r its a great machine but thinking of upgrading to the 4066r with cab but the air recirculation is something I’m debating on living in south Alabama. I heard the 5 series does recirculate and it will freeze you it blows so good but the 4 series don’t. But the 5 series I would need a gooseneck trailer and upgrade my truck to haul it which I really don’t want to.
It does recirculate ever so slightly through a foam filter, but it's nothing like a vehicle with a damper and full recirculation. I live in Florida, extremely hot and humid. It was 105 on the heat index last week and I was comfortable in the cab. It definitely didn't freeze me out, but made it tolerable. On anything but a 95 degree or more day, it's fine and I don't even run it on max. They could have done better, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I wouldn't let that make you get a larger tractor if you don't need it, don't forget the 5 series does not offer hydro if that's what you want. Non hydro was a major deal breaker for me in wanting a 5 series.
Do you have any info on the Differential Lock? I read several of the comments didn't find any info. The info maybe in a comment but I'm basically a lazy individual and don't to read all the comments. Thanks
It works or it doesn't, there is a lever under the seat you can step on if the rear wheel starts spinning and it locks the other wheel in. Once you let off the lever, the lock disengages. Real handy with loader work or when the tractor is on uneven ground.
No you asked how it works, it's very simple. It works (push lever down) or doesn't work as designed when you don't step on the lever. Never had an issue with it
I've got a 2017 4052R with a 440R loader. I pull a 15' Frontier 2115R grooming mower and it does exceptionally well on power. I also pull a 4 row JD 7000 plot planter, a 110 gal JD 3pt sprayer, and a MX6 brush mower. I maintain a small 20 acre private airport where I farm half of it for tillage. I have a lot of vids posted like LED light upgrades, hydraulic install, new speakers, and just operation of the machine. I need to post a vid of my new Bluetooth radio I installed a while back. Check it out, I think you'll enjoy them. Love your channel!
I'm very familiar with your setup because I have been watching your videos. You have a lot of very nice equipment. I converted my bulbs to led in my cab lights. I've been thinking about doing a radio upgrade, but I've got so used to wearing ear buds for music I think I'll stay that way. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Yes my dealer will not sell a tractor with a loader unless the tires are filled. I believe it's a liability issue if I remember correctly. I want the extra weight regardless.
I'm looking at a 2020 4052 cab,,,I wanted a 3000 but everyone in central Louisiana is sold out,,soo the dealer is wanting to make a deal on the 4k.I have a 2006 31hp 790 4x4 loader w/1000 hrs.all grass cutting for sale.",no problems since new,""all Manuel. Have any idea what it's worth???
I sure don't know what it's worth, all I can say is good tractors hold their value well. I sold my last John deere after several years of ownership for 500 more than I paid for it! I was pleasantly surprised.
FYI I came from a 3 series to my 4 series. You are making the right choice, the weight and stability difference make the 4 series feel like a much better tractor.
Thanks for the videos. Keep it up! I am looking at purchasing a new 3046 with cab. You said that it brings in fresh air using the A/C all the time, no recirculating option. So I am a HVAC tech. I know nothing about tractors, but looking at the 3046R, their is an air filter at the top rear window on the inside. If this is the case and their is no other air intake, then this would basically be a 100% recirculation except any air leakage. Is there vents on the outside of the cab that suck air in as well that you know for a fact? It would surprise me if it did since tractors make so much dust. It would stop any filter up on the outside quickly. Can you confirm please?
There is a tiny foam filter in the cab for very minimal recirculation. The majority of the air comes through the outside back of the cab through a main filter. It requires frequent cleaning and eventual replacement due to the outside elements. There is no damper or true recirculation option for these tractors, a big miss on John deeres part. Watch this video and you will see where I clean the AC filter. th-cam.com/video/oZE2eYMZ-Rk/w-d-xo.html
Very similar journeys!!! Yes, we are on Seeds and Arrows Frontier. TH-cam is such an awesome way to share your journey and document your progress. Looking forward to more videos!
Great review thank you.. I currently own a 3720 with cab and I am currently looking at upgrading to 4066R. I love the 3720 but it feels very tippy on uneven ground. How is the 4066 in comparison?
Well coming from a 3720 myself I can tell you that the 4066 is noticeably more stable. They also offer wheel spacers for even more stability. With that said it's still a compact and not going to be as stable as a 5 series. However I don't want the width of a 5 series and I'm very pleased with my 4066. I think it's an excellent tractor, amazing amount of power but still can get in right places. I couldn't imagine mowing how I do with a larger tractor. Ask anything you like about it, I'll respond.
Was your 3720 a cab tractor? Mine is and I installed 3 inch wheel spacers. The spacers helped but it still feels tippy. I am going to demo a 4066R on my property this weekend. What do you use to cut grass. My 5 ft bush hog will be too small. Thanks
Mine was a open station. I use a 6ft flail mower and a 91" finish mower. I use to have a rotary mower but find a flail superior except for heavy mowing.
Right below the video is the title description, to the right of the title is the drop down arrow for the video description. I'll grab the link and post it here as well
Very helpful as I decide between the 4066 & the 52. I also appreciate your humble, honest presentation style.

Nice review. It took me 7 months of research before I pulled the trigger. The amount of features on compact and utility is staggering. I went into my JD dealer all set to purchase the 4052R loaded with the understanding that PTO hp is the only reason to go with the 4066R.
Thanks
@@michaelbrennan7486 i think hydro is a difference, for clearing go with bigger and more stable machine...
Your going to love your 4066r!!
You the man
Thanks for watching
it was a really good review.
Not once have I found the 4066 tippy. My previous 3 series John Deere was more narrow and I did find it a little uncomfortable on slopes.
Had my 4066r just over a year got 400 hours on it , no problems at all its defiantly an up grade from my Kubota ,
That's why I stick with John deere, reliability is number one for me with something I depend on. Thanks for watching!
@@TKCL Thanks for your reply. Love your channel. Congrats on jumping in full-time with your videos.
Thank you! Couldn't do it without viewers such as yourself!
Excellent video - I was thinking of buying this Deere. I lived in Florida for 15 years, the vented cab point I totally agree (and the lack of aircon recirc).
Glad it was helpful!
New to the channel, but really enjoy and appreciate the content. You've gained a new subscriber and look forward to binge watching your past videos and seeing new ones as they get posted.
Thank you for watching
Real good review , i am borrowing a new JD4066 for a test week at the end of this month. This explained what to expect. Much appreciated that you uploaded this video
Glad it helped, hope you enjoy the tractor!
It's the highest pto hp compact tractor made. That was my reason for getting it too, mowing.
Nice honest review! Me and my dad are looking into buying one in the near future. As of right now we have a used 20 year old john deere 1070 with a 440 loader and it is been realiable ever since we've bought it.
Thanks, best of luck with tractor purchase!
Thanks for taking the time to do this detailed review.
Your very welcome, thanks for watching!
I purchased a 5083E have not been disappointed!
Glad to hear that!
That's great to hear! I hope I get that kind of life out of mine.
Auto throttle is awesome and so is load match and even though it has been match, I never used the speed match. The roll out feature which allows you to adjust how quickly the tractor stops his nice if you go from fine turf management operations to dirt work, but I never used it for rotary cutting
I like those features myself!
I really enjoyed the video. My biggest compliant about my Kubota Grand is the seat. I wish it came with an air ride seat. You can add one for $1,000, but for the price of the tractor, the air ride seat would be nice. The window vents are nice on those Spring/Fall days.
Love my air ride seat, but wish I had vented windows. It's a shame with as much as these tractors cost that they don't come with all the comforts.
I'm thinking about getting 4066r. I have 125 acres in Wisconsin and your videos are what I what to do. Thank you
Glad you enjoy the content
This video is excellent. Really helpful in helping me to decide on my first tractor purchase. Thank you sir!
Your welcome!
Thanks for the review, very helpful. getting ready to buy the 4052r with out a cab and this was some good insight. Cant wait to get it and put it though its paces. Thanks
That's the model my father has and it's been very reliable and a workhorse.
Cabs are the same for 3 & 4 and they are small. It is why I have a 3r open station. I have to go to a 5 to fit in a cab
They are definitely smaller than most.
Mahindra is the world's best selling brand for a reason, I'd at least try it out
Spot on review, I'm agreeing with you on this.
My uncle got a M7060 kubota it only has 4 air vents on steering column. I’d trade less speakers for an A/C in the roof with 6 vents every day.
Does that 4066R have the rotating balls that allow category 1 or category 2 implement
I know the 4066M heavy duty does
The balls do spin/rotate, but I've never owned cat 2 equipment, so not sure if it will hook up or not.
When I buy my tractor I’m a go with the pats quick connect
I hear good things about them.
I'd look into the water in the vents, I've never experienced that before.
agree with cons on john deere need quick release on bucket like 5 series john deere
Good job!
Thanks I appreciate the support! I'll be sure to swing by and check your channel out, good luck with your TH-cam journey.
Great video!! I'm about to buy a 4052r...your video gave me a lot of info!
Glad it helped! Enjoy your tractor
What is the width of the rear tires on your tractor? I'm trying to figure out if my 77" wide trailer is wide enough.
I appreciate your review and I agree 100% on everything you said, great job bud.
Thank you!
I've never once found the brake pedals to trip me, seems to be OK.
Nice review! Looking to get a smaller 2 series JD tractor for my property in the near future.
I hear the 2520 is a workhorse.
I have a a 4052m power reverser open station on a 40 acre plot it's a great machine!
My father has a 4052m as well and it's been a fantastic machine for years.
Have a 4052r and the cab does vent at the back window
Yes it does, it just does not have true recirculation and a damper like a car. It would be nice to recirculate inside air only when working in dusty conditions around a fire, or to get the air even colder.
Thanks for sharing! It was very helpful. That is the model I am considering!
Your welcome, I hope you enjoy your new tractor when you get it.
I have a 4052 R cab I think Jd cheap out on cup holders not big enough for a tumbler
Drives me mad
I've had 1.5 million miles on an air ride seat. Dad has over 3mil. Never failed. Only ones that did were outside the truck from, salt, uv, weather change, dry rot, etc. Never on a seat.
Great to know! Mine stays under a barn out of the sun and I use it almost daily, so dry rot won't be a problem.
Thanks also!
Outstanding review. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
Great Video!!! Thanks for the review! I was looking for something like this that wasn’t a dealer review.
I wanted a 5 series, they were actually cheaper. I just couldn't go without hydrostatic.
My current one is geared. I told my wife this one will be just like her lawn mower and she could drive it. She seemed genuinely excited.
Any advice?
Great tractor, if it checks out I'd jump on it.
Hows the loader lift capacity? Have you ever come across anything you couldn't lift?
The Kelley's Country Life thanks for the reply I appreciate your opinion sir and good points you make.
No problem, ask any questions you may think of.
@@TKCL It works or it doesn't work? That"s what I was afraid of. Thanks for the info.
No you asked how it works, it's very simple. It works (push lever down) or doesn't work as designed when you don't step on the lever. Never had an issue with it
@@TKCL Info, I ask for Info. That'll be enough.
Andrew, did you order yours with wider tires?
Just with R4 tires, those are the best for a homeowner in my opinion.
Great review.
Thank you for watching
There is not a reason for the rt door to open the joy stick doesn't allow access
When operating the 3pt lift, joystick and often the pto from outside the tractor, it would be very helpful for that door to hold open.
That mower is amazing!
Is that a rifle holder mounted to the right?
Sure is, if interested here's the video th-cam.com/video/pmmVjPMy7oE/w-d-xo.html
Fantastic review video! Thanks very much sir!

Do you add h20 to your tires???,,,
Yes my dealer will not sell a tractor with a loader unless the tires are filled.
@@TKCL I am with you, that is retarded of John Deere. When I get mine, I am going to see if I can pull less in from outside. I will let you know.
Good job on the review
Thank you for watching
Not sure about JD air ride seat, but as a truck driver our air ride seats last forever.
I certainly hope so, these seats cost a fortune. It's extremely comfortable though, glad I have it.
New friend here!! Great review!! We just got property and are looking to build soon!!
Sounds like you are on the same journey as we are. Are you planning on filming as you develop your place? Thanks for stopping by!
Very similar journeys!!! Yes, we are on Seeds and Arrows Frontier. TH-cam is such an awesome way to share your journey and document your progress. Looking forward to more videos!
@@seedsandarrowsfrontier9224 thanks, best of luck with your journey. I'll swing by and check your channel out
Great review thank you..

Where can I get a rifle holder like in this video? Dan King
Hit the little arrow beneath the video to open up the video description. There is a link right there to take you to it on Amazon.
I don't see a little arrow below the video. Where could it be?
Right below the video is the title description, to the right of the title is the drop down arrow for the video description. I'll grab the link and post it here as well

Nothing runs like a deer 🦌
That's right!
Excellent!
If they would of offered that hitch assist on my E-series, i would of easily paid for it!
R series only, that's how they get ya!
The loader joystick is incredibly sloppy for such a pricey machine.
I don't feel that way at all, it operates smoothly for me.
