Black Pepper gravy mix / Rockin G Farm / homemade 🏡 pantry mix

  • While we are experiencing freezing 🥶 temperatures, I am turning indoors to focus on stocking my PANTRY.
    Today, I am making a must have staple for everyone’s pantry:
    Black pepper gravy mix 🍳🥓🥐
    5 cups all-purpose flour
    1/2 cup corn starch
    1/4 c ground black pepper
    2 cups powdered milk
    1T salt
    Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.
    Place in an airtight container with a lid . Store in a cool dry place.
    Directions…
    You will need 1 1/2 cups of milk ,
    Add 1-2 T bacon 🥓 drippings to a warm skillet, med heat, when Melted add 3-4 heaping Tablespoons of Black pepper gravy mix. Whisking continuously. After bacon 🥓 drippings and All Purpose flour are whisked together
    add 1 1/12 cups of milk to skillet. Continue to whisk milk Into gravy mixture on med or low heat. The mixture will thicken quickly. Remove from heat and serve over homemade buttermilk biscuits.

    Loved watching your video we have sausage and biscuits on Sunday morning and my husband always say pepper is what makes it good looking to seeing more recipes have a very pleasant day and God bless

    What do you put powdered milk in your mix for if you use milk for the liquid in gravy anyway ? Is that because it's more rich? (personal preference) Most mixes you just add water (bring water to a boil and add mix a small amount of cold water). Nice job on the video, I'll be watching more! Take care!

      it makes it richer. and if you don't have milk to put in the gravy this will ensure a rich flavor

    Does your pickle jar smell at all of pickles? I’ve seen and read on other channels to be careful using pickle jars because they seem to always still transfer the pickle flavor. I have avoided using them but have no personal experience with them. Just wondering if there was any chance of your gravy picking up the pickle scent. Thank you so much for the recipe. I’ve started making more and more stuff from scratch and now I can add this to the list.

      No , the jar does not smell like pickles. I have had this jar for over 8 years. If you do have a jar or container that has a smell in it, you can place waded up news paper on it, place the lid on it and leave it sealed for about a week. If the smell continues repeat the process. Let me know if this helps.

      I put baking soda and hot water in mine and let it soak for 24 hours or more.

    watching from nottingham UK why do you use white bacon flavoured gravy on biscuits? what kind of biscuits? we only use white sauce for fish, or cheese sauce. what else do you use it for? very interested in the differences in culture. thank you

      Girl, southern biscuits and gravy is a staple in the south here I the USA. We put white gravy on chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. You can also put it on cooked rice.

      Biscuits are made from all-purpose flour, milk, oil and butter. Mix and bake. Think I have a video on making biscuits.

      They are like between cake and banana bread in consistency. Girl , we. Eat chocolate gravy on our biscuits also. But I prefer black pepper gravy

      1/4 cup ground black pepper, it is close to the top of the written recipe
