Thanks for the review. For me, the definitive Yes live recording is Yessongs. It includes the original lineup plus Buford on most of the tracks. The sound is also good, although not great.
I'd agree that Yessongs is probably the definitive Yes live album, although I do also really like Yesshows. Neither of these however include the original keyboard player, Tony Kaye, and so this release is to me, an essential 'historical document', if you like...
I can fully endorse the Everything but the Girl EP - had to wait 3hr in the queue to get it but it was worth it! Also picked up buena vista social club on gold vinyl 😊
Thanks for your comment William. I was also tempted by the Buena Vista SC, and very nearly bought the recent anniversary edition, until a friend intervened. Seems the most recent 'mastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analogue tapes' releases were actually digitised and, according to him, (my friend, Henry) don't sound anywhere near as good... He's found me a copy of the 'good one' but I can't comment more until that arrives and I've heard it.
My assumption is that Craft will in due time release a stereo version of the Bill Evans album which will not be a limited edition like the Record Store Day mono version. If so, would you buy the stereo pressing as well?
Fully agree with you on the Yes Yale album. It is what it is and a part of history. I don't mind having to pay £34 for something as such but relieved it's not too often. The Bowie LP 'Waiting In The Sky' sounds excellent and a steal at only £30.
I went to Sound Knowledge in Marlborough on the afternoon of RSD and they still had a copy of the Kate Bush EP. Lily is possibly my favourite KB track but I didn't buy it because I don't like the picture. No point buying something for the aesthetics if it's not aesthetically pleasing.
There's really not much bass there. I have 'fairly' massive speakers (Kerr Acoustic K100). They are full range pro studio monitors that go down to 16Hz. So if there is bass on a recording I'm gonna hear it. A TARDIS should work: then I could go back to the venue on the night and, adjust the mix on the desk.
Bill Evans is outstanding a really really top notch reissue and mono to boot

I've already listened to the 'Yale' album more times than any of the countless Yes live albums released since Yesshows.
