Love the lyrics and video, they can be interpreted so many different ways that it makes you impatient to hear the next track and see where this story goes. I believe this is the first track of a concept album that tells a complete story. For those who do not know Norse mythology, Ragnarok is the cataclysmic destruction of the cosmos and everything in it - even the gods.
BUT then the world is reborn into something new! Perhaps that ties into the theme. I'm personally really looking forward to "Eternity has Failed" as "If Eternity Should Fail" was a song on Maiden's 2015 album "Book of Souls" that was originally meant as a song for this album and Bruce has been working on this album since 2014.
The Mandrake Project is a concept album so you need to look at this as the first chapter of the story. The song is really good, the video has some cheesy moments but it give you an idea of the story. I like the sound of Bruce's voice and I love that he is releasing another solo album after so many years. Let's wait until the whole album is released to see the whole story.
Great song. Ive heard it on a few streams and the vocals are low in the mix. I dont know if thats intentional. The guitar reminds me of Zakk Wylde, with the pinch harmonics. Gives it a bit of a Black Label edge.
I'm with you. I like the prechorus... but that's about it. I'm mainly a fan of maiden because of Bruce. But Chemical Wedding or Accident of Birth material, this is not. Hopefully he's done the same as maiden for the past 3 albums and released a lead single that is not indicative of the rest of the album. Pretence and wanting to look educated has taken precedent over just writing cool music. Both in this video and in post AMOLAD Maiden.
I fuckin love this song. It's a work of art from Bruce.

I love everything about this song. I get what you mean about thinking it's relaxing. For me, this is gym music!
Good tune! Catchy, mystical. I assume that the next single Rain on the Drain will be more fast-tempo. Also enjoyed the music video.
Amazing song

Huge Bruce fan. Not a fan of this song or video. I can’t wait for the rest of the album.
